Marina’s Cafe

Food was off the charts — very small place though owner /​operator makes & serves all of the food — so definitely expect to wait a little bit for your meal. Empanadas are $ 2 each now but tasty & delicious — pork was off the charts.

I know I am going to get it for this one! Any way– It was OK — that’s it… OK…The problem is that if you look at the Unilocal reviews this place is crushing it and can do no wrong! We ordered 4 empanadas and a large side order of rice and beans — we also asked for the daily special and was told she didn’t make it this day (went back a week later specifically for that special and guess what, didn’t make it again). Looking at photos on here and the reviews I was ready to EAT ! But sadly the empanadas were under stuffed– you can tell because the meat inside was cooked into a tough ball — not enough meat to take the heat of the oil so it burns inside as well– maybe she was having an off day maybe not– but I was kind of disappointed because of all the great stuff on here and from word of mouth. The thing I mentioned with the special — it was a soup she made that my wife mentioned she would like to try, she said she didn’t make it that day because she was busy– OK no problem– so my wife mentions the special again a few days later and I stop on my way home from work the following week on that day (specials are dictated by days of the week i.e. Monday pork, Tuesday beef, Wednesday fish and so on) and she told me that she was so busy she couldn’t make the special — I understand and asked for something else on the menu– another type of soup and she was too busy for that as well. So again kind of disappointing. Also the space she has is way underutilized! she has 3 tables and 6 chairs and then a couch and a recliner — she needs more seating. Anyway I know others will disagree with me but I was not impressed by my 2 visits there–

The owner is so nice. The food is great and the portions are generous. Great little hidden gem. Rice and beans are yummy!

I go here at least once a week… its that good.

I rented a vacation pool home in Walden recently. I saw Marina’s Café just before my vacation ended. How i wish i had discovered her café sooner. The prices were perfect, the food more than great, and the portions more than I expected. The empanada’s were definitely great as others have shared.

Delicious empanadas!!! By far the best I have tried around this area. So reasonably priced and the owner is super friendly. Cash only heads up.

My husband and I tried Marina“s Café for the first time tonight. I got the shrimp with garlic which came with rice and beans and my husband got the pork ribs which also came with rice and beans. At the last minute we also got a veggie empanadas to split. The empanadas was seriously the best I’ve ever had, next time I would get a chicken and a spicy beef to try as well. The shrimp was good but hubby’s pork ribs were amazing! The meat was falling off the bone tender and very flavorful. The rice and beans were also excellent and the portions were generous. The service was quick but we were the only ones in there. The owner who was very friendly suggested that I take a card with their number on it so that if we’re ever in a hurry we can call the order in ahead of time. when we got there and realized that they didn’t have air conditioning we almost didn’t stay as it is a very hot night, but I am so happy that we did. They have very large fans set up which actually made it quite comfortable. The food was outstanding and the prices were extremely reasonable, we will definitely be back! It’s a very small place so if you have a lot of people I would suggest takeout. One thing I wish they would do is have a description on the menu of some of the unfamiliar items so you know what they are but they’re so friendly I’m sure they’d be happy to tell you ! Can’t wait to go back!

I LOVE this place! The owner is sooo sweet and the food is fantastic! She has daily specials but also recipes that are available everyday. The empanadas are to die for! Her prices are fantastic also and the portions are very generous!

I would give it 6 stars if I could. Awesome Puerto rican food at its finest. The owner is Fantastic and her Pasteles are to die for. Empanada is full of meat and delicious!

My wife & I, as well as our 7 & 11 year olds, all love this place and try to eat here at least twice a month. We usually eat on Friday nites and get one dinner special each of Pork Chop, Grilled Chicken and the Steak. We also always have the Beef Empanadas and Sweet Plantains. We can all testify to each item being FANTASTIC. Servings are very generous and Marina couldn’t possibly be sweeter! The Great Food & Service is well worth the wait every time.

Great authentic Spanish food & friendly owner, reasonable prices. Will defiantly be here again! :)

Small café with pretty great empanadas. I showed up starved and ate two but the average person would be happy with one. I also had a side of rice. Ready to go back and try some other food! Definitely cool place to stop in for lunch.

The food is unbelievable! It is always good, large serving, and cheap! I’m talking for 4.99 lunch special, empanadas that cost $ 1.00 and our homemade. The owner Marina is an absolute doll. If you’re in town go!
