Im accustomed to big sushi servings that are served in Cambridge. Yeah, it is fresh and clean. But the servings are a joke. Sushi is the size of a pinky finger, Makis are the size of a quarter. Bottom line, not worth the price.

I’m really surprised this place isn’t busier! It is kind of tucked away on a side street just outside of downtown Wakefield, but it is definitely the best sushi destination in town. We go here a lot, and the waitress/bartender is very nice and always remembers what we like to order. I really like the chairs and tables in the lounge area, and the whole bar/lounge is a great area to watch the game and enjoy some sushi. The chef/owner, is a renowned Japanese chef from what I understand, and we’ve talked to him a couple of times and he is quite knowledgable about the different fishes. We always get the scallion pancake, and usually a sashimi deluxe and you definitely can’t go wrong with those. The mixed drinks are great, but they carry a good selection of beer and wine as well.

If I could I would not give a star at all. I get take out from there frequently. the quality and portions have gone down dramatically. I called the owner who instead of correcting the situation, he decided to yell at me on the phone when I called to let him know what had happened. I will not be getting take out there anymore. It seems that Customer Service does not matter to the owner.

I loved this place until recently, when I bought my usual salmon tataki(two orders) and a spider roll. The salmon tataki normal comes on a bed of shredded carrots, or parsnips, except this time the amount of salmon was half the normal portion and it was on about a tablespoon and a half of shredded carrots, instead of the usual(approximately one cup). They had also put tons of wasabi and pickled ginger in the container, which took up almost all the room in the container. The salmon tataki never comes with pickled ginger or wasabi, it is eaten with ponzi sauce. I called and spoke to the owner and instead of apologizing or offering to make it up to me, he proceeded to yell at and argue with me. He told me that he was a sushi chef from Japan and owned three restaurants. I don’t know what this had to do with my issue, but I guess I was supposed to fall on me knees in awe. He insisted that the salmon and carrots were seasonal, although I just got it two days prior and it was the normal portions. I told him that I could always take my business elsewhere and he told me to go ahead, so I am planning on it. He was rude, entitled and aggressive. Bad customer service and that in my book is intolerable.

Went to Wakefield location with my sons. Boys night out! We have had take out from here in the past but have never dined in. Tonight we did. The scallion pancake we the absolute best ever!!! Crispy fresh and flavorful with an incredible scallion dipping sauce. The shrimp spring rolls and beef kushiyaki were also very delicious. We shared a maki platter with a very tasty and expertly laid out plate. Total hidden gem in Wakefield!

I love that when I walk in with my favorite girlfriends, the waitress already knows what we want to drink & eat ! Friendly & Bubbly service, Medford Maki is by far my favorite ! Just be careful on getting a refill on your soda, it isn’t free they do charge !

I can’t help it. I’m an unabashed fan of Sei Bar Wakefield. Good food with exceptional service at reasonable prices. No frills… ordinary interior with a larger than scale bar. Office Maki, Canada roll, spicy avocado salad & salmon scallion pizza are terrific! Good for casual or casual date nite out.

I tried the one in Everett and wasn’t impressed… I have been going to the new sushi restaurant in the center and oye’s but sei bar is actually now at the top of my list… Highly recommend the spice tuna rolls

The boyfriend and I decided to try a new sushi place last night, and ended up here. We were the only ones in the restaurant, but it was a Monday night, so it wasn’t too unusual. Our waitress was adorable and attentive — she was also the one who made us our scorpion bowl… okay, bowlS. We ordered the Love Boat for 2, which came with a wonderful assortment of sashimi, maki, and other little wrapped goodies which I had never had before. The sushi boat was $ 40 — very reasonably priced for the amount of food we received. At the end of our meal, our waitress surprised us with a complementary Crème Brulee. It was delicious! We will definitely be back.

Took over an hour to deliver my food when I opened the bag the soup was spilled, the sauce was spilled, my tempura was soggy and soaked in every way and it was $ 4 for a less than an 6 oz cup for bubble green tea which btw had no straw to get the bubbles up which was extortion nonetheless! I can go to the mall and pay $ 5 for a 12– 16 oz bubble tea and the mall is usually overpriced for no reason… At least the tea tasted great… It was the only thing I got to slightly enjoy… Pretty disappointed at the rest…

Great choice for Japanese/Thai in Wakefield amongst a throng of other choices in town. Service has always been super attentive and I find myself craving the Gyoza every time I see their sign. The parking is always the real issue… there are just a few on street spots out front or across the street so there have been a few times we tried to go and their simply wasn’t anywhere to park… not sure of a solution for them.

Local place to enjoy good food and good sushi! Bartender makes delicious drinks and is very personable. Who always remembers what our usual orders are. It’s never all that busy so, it’s a quiet place to enjoy a meal.

Sei Bar is a very confused restaurant. I went here for lunch and had a lunch special if teriyaki chicken. The food was fair and unremarkable. The atmosphere is very nice on the inside(think hip, retro 70s/80s) while the outside is devoid of personality. It has a nice view of Shaw’s and Wakefield Concrete. Service was decent and pleasant. Overall, fair and likely not worth a return trip.

I am a BIG fan of sushi and a BIGGER fan of Sei Bar. I’ve been going to the original location in Medford since it’s inception so it only makes sense to try out the Wakefield location. Ironically I found it totally by accident. I was in the area looking for a quick bite to eat. While leaving said establishment I turn to my left and saw the Sei Bar neon sign. WHOAH! I walk in an see my favorite waitress who used to work in Medford but is now designated to the Wakefield location. I walk by and peak in the window. Walk away, then decide to come back and go inside. So glad I did. Got to catch up with an old friend and enjoy some tasty sushi. She even brought out this free mini tuna appetizer. I ended up purchasing another order of it because it was so yummy. The only downfall is no Heineken Light at this location. I managed with a Tsing Tao.

Sei Bar in Wakefield is nice and hip looking Asian fusion restaurant. I call it «Asian Fusion» but«Asian Confusion» might be a more apt way to describe it, or at least the food. They have Sushi, Chinese, Japanese and Thai food. I went there a few times for lunch and the lunch combo platters I found to be confusing with the myriad of style options. Also trying to cover all those bases made the lunch combo options just flat out weird. The meals came in what I think they call a «bento box» which I was not a fan of. Sure it looks neat initially but trying to cut your food and mix the rice etc. proved to be totally annoying. I had General Gau chicken one time and peanut beef the other, both were good but difficult to eat because of the box thing they were served in. Neither was exceptional and given the amount of competition in the area, I would probably go to Oye in Reading or Sato II in Stoneham before suffering the lunch box again. Jade Garden in Wakefield also makes a much better lunch combo plate or for eat in you could do Mandarin Reading and come away with a better experience. Soup is included with the lunch combo unless you want«hot and sour» which cost more and therefore is another whack of the lame stick. The soup does come in a funky square glass bow which looks cool but the portion size is just too small. The seats at the bar area and in the front section are kind of awkward and bouncy and uncomfortable. I did not have the sushi and the food was not terrible but the lunch menu needs to be done over and those serving boxes and chairs need to go. Wakefield has a lot of sushi, some thai and a good sprinkling of mandarin Chinese so not so sure if this place will catch on.

Sei Bar is a neighborhood gem. Similar to its sister restaurants in Medford and Everett, this Wakefield location holds the same charm. Everything is delicious! The sushi is fresh and the hot entrees are authentic. I highly recommend the Fresh UU-10 Scallop if you like the flavor of spicy mayo. So good!
