Star Lounge

Went here for a night of family fun karaōke at the recommendation of one of my aunts. The outside looks pretty ghetto and sketchy. The inside is a tad bit better.
The service isn’t the greatest. There were two waitresses and even though it wasn’t packed or busy it took a bit just to get a glass of water. My aunt wasn’t too impressed with their drinks and always had to order an extra shot just to taste any alcohol. But I hear their beers are reasonably priced.
The food wasn’t the best either and the portions were on the smaller size. On the upside, they did allow is to bring in food from Leeward Drive-​In when their cook went home for the night.
Karaōke was… Interesting. Only two mics and one of them is broken. Speakers were ok; heard them cracklings with the big vocal singers. They have a reasonably big selection of songs. But requesting songs from the waitress was a challenge. I would say 50% of the time she would get the song selection wrong or miss a song we requested even though we still got charged for it.
The regulars who go here can be fun as they usually cheer for the singers, even if they aren’t the best :)
I only return here cause my aunt likes this place but if I had a choice I would probably go somewhere else.

We were going to a family dinner at Thelma’s and unfortunately they don’t allow BYOB. It was a Friday night, and after a week of work, who doesn’t want to have a drink before dinner? I know I always do. So, my bf and I arrive in Waipahu an hour earlier than we were suppose to meet for dinner because we were trying to avoid the afternoon traffic. So we walk into Star Lounge (located next to Thelma’s) to grab a drink. This is probably one the most ghetto bars I’ve been to, and I’ve been to some ghetto bars. The place wasn’t dirty from what I could see, but the lighting in there is really dark. I could barely take a picture of the lady with her boobies hanging out on the wall. Plus one star for having Karaōke. Minus one star for the worst karaōke singing I’ve heard in my life. Plus one star for having a HUGE picture of a woman with her boobies showing. Plus one star for $ 3 bud light Platinums.
