Hawaiian Island Cafe

My husband and I stopped at this little place during our scenic drive toward Kailua. We had the chicken Gorgonzola sandwich with macaroni salad and the «local’s favorite» stew with blended mocha coffees. The food and service was outstanding! The macaroni salad and coffee was some of the best we’ve had on the island! While they don’t have a public restroom, they do have wifi and take credit cards. There was a local inside who taught us how to make headbands out of reeds and orchids who also gave us some great life advice about how to live aloha! I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home! This is a fantastic place to eat and the owner gave us directions to a secret beach just up the way where we had a blast snorkeling and saw tons of sea turtles. Highly recommend!

The food was tasty, fresh and healthy. The service and friendliness were unrivaled during our stay on the island. Thanks for the awesome experience Manu and family!!!

Love this place. We stopped by when we were driving up the coast. Such a cute local place… Everyone that worked there is so nice and the food is delicious. I had the Gorgonzola breakfast sandwich. Also I left my purse there and they kept it safe for the whole day

I came here for an event for work. I worked with the staff in advance to plan out a menu of pastele stew and their biscuits and various sandwiches, chips, and potato salad. My goodness!!! The biscuits are amazing. I don’t know how they make these things but they are a mix of like cake and cornbread. SO GOOD! In addition, they taught us all how to make palm leaf headbands and played the guitar for us while we were there. Love the place! Will definitely be back!

Super yummy place for lunch! My mom and I stopped by here after a day at Hanauma Bay and it was great! We ordered the garden bagel on a poi bagel, turkey panini and the tropical smoothie! Everything tasted fresh and would definitely would come back! The staff was friendly and welcoming too :)

Breakfast was delicious — the coffee was top notch and so were the bagels and croissants (especially with gorgonzola). Staff were welcoming and friendly — there is a great atmosphere. Don’t drive by without stopping.

Best waffle of Oahu. Super nice family run place. Breakfast sandwich was super good too. Owner’s dad Manu was there spreading the aloha. Highly recommended!

Cutest coffee in waimanalo! Friendly local people, will definitely come back! They remind me to be happy for tiny things. I had coffee only, it was a real coffee.

Excellent place! We had breakfast/​brunch. I absolutely reccomend the acai bowl and a gorgonzola sandwich. An cozy environment, music and staff is very friendly. Do yourself a favor, stop hitting around the tourist circuit and visit this place.

Came to this beach for a little run and came across this restaurant. I’d never heard of an achai bowl b4, but holy scrumptious it was good. It was a decent size bowl too. Then the waitress recommended this frappachino coffee thing. I don’t hardly ever drink coffee, but this thing was good.
The one downside to my experience was the fact that I dripped a bit of coffee on my brand new white shirt. So if you go here b careful when you carry you’re coffee out!!! There’s no warning labels on the cups either to warn u about possible accidental spills. Jk, but seriously

Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Very accommodating of our picky kids. Staff was exceptionally friendly. Love this place.

Have you ever been overwhelmed by a large menu? I lean towards simple, this place serves breakfast and lunch kind of dishes all day and it’s pretty straight forward but also pretty good. I enjoyed their acai bowl and their omelette breakfast plate. The mist fan was great to stand in front of after hanging in the sun :)

Went there for the very first time today. I was greeted with friendly smiles and a warm atmosphere. I ordered acai bowls and they were awesome! I will definitely return here on a regular basis. I can’t wait to try everything else on the menu!

Stopped by this place for a quick bite before the beach. I had the chicken Pennie and my wife had a BLT on a croissant and it was really good and it came with Maui pin chips our favorites!!! My daughter had a Acai bowl and really good too! We found another local place to grab. Bite before boogie boarding in our fav beach Bellows!

Woke up on this Sunny Monday August 10, 2015 and decided to take a drive to Waimanalo. Saw a small sign and decided to give this place a try. The employees here are really friendly, they’re talented with their art and live music, the atmosphere is clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed their pumpkin spice frappé and chai frappé with soymilk. Thank you Monic for the great service, Will be back to try the other smoothies and foods that you guys make here.

This place is amazing. Quality and love put into everything they make. My family and I love this place, and the owner and her family are amazing as well.

Love the natural food &/​vegan options. Classic décor & ambiance is relaxing and comfortable. Roasted chicken panini with pesto mayo is onolicious!

We stopped here for breakfast after spending time at Waimanalo Bay and glad we did. It’s a hole in the wall type of place but inside has a nice, chill, inviting dining area. The workers were friendly and welcoming as well.
I ordered the acai bowl and it was pretty good. Others ordered the breakfast Borg and the everything waffle. They loved it!

We were the first people there, our order got taken, 3 others came in, and it took 45 minutes for our food to come out. An acai bowl, a muffin sandwich, rice eggs and toast. 45 minutes??? The muffin sandwich was cold, asked for bacon it came out with ham. And the toast wasn’t even toasted on the second meal. Not to mention we were never checked on until we were sitting there 30 min after eating with dull expressions.
Blaaaaahh — make the drive to Kailua for something decent to eat and some good customer service!

Excellent food! Try the «grab & Go» which is a piece of baked tuna over rice and egg in a cup! It’s amazing!!!
Breakfast is excellent!
