Bowman Termite & Pest Management

These guys found termite issues at 52 walaka and saved me a lot of grief. Thanks!

I rarely take the time to write a review however I think people will benefit from my experience if they are seeking a pest control company. We have used Bowman for 2 ½ years for every other month service. 6 months ago we started having a serious problem with millipedes. They were coming in the house nightly. This property is a second home for us. My house manager went to our house two weeks after we left and found 1000 millipedes in each room and I’m not exaggerating. I sent a picture to Bowman. Their solution was to switch our service to monthly and use stronger materials. Our service contract had a 30 day guarantee. If we asked them to return they would come reluctantly and complain that they are not making a profit on our property. Last month, on a day when we were not present, knowing the issues we are having, the worker came to our property for a total of 10 Minutes even though our house takes about an hour to properly service. I called Shelly the manager to complain and told her I have cameras. She apologized but apparently didn’t mean it. Today, in breach of their annual contract they cancelled our contract because we are apparently to much trouble. Apparently they only want your business if you have no issues and are not around to find out that they breeze through your property as fast as possible.

We were so impressed by the termite inspector Clem today. We have had the other two termite companies give us quotes on tenting our house over the last couple of weeks. None of them did nearly as much as Clem from Bowman’s. He was the only one that actually climbed into the attic of our home. He also saved us probably close to $ 3000 when he told us that our home did not need tenting. The fix would be easy. The other two companies said tenting was necessary after a quick walk around then sent their hefty quotes. We have never used Bowman’s but we will be calling you for quarterly pest control and we will ditch our current company. We would like to be a new loyal customer if you want us.

After we purchased our house in Kailua-​Kona, we called Bowman to have it tented (the house had been foreclosed on and was sitting empty for a while). They came and tented, then we moved in along with tenants upstairs. It didn’t take long to notice we still had termites. They didn’t want to believe me, but eventually came back to inspect and confirmed they would have to re-​tent the house. Someone probably hadn’t sealed the tent properly. So frustrating!!! Now that we were living in the house, we had to go through the process of sealing food, finding a place to stay while they tented, AND we had to pay for a hotel stay for our tenants. Bowman would not cover any of those expenses despite the fact they they admitted to not doing a good job the first time. I am very unsatisfied with how they addressed the entire issue, they never even apologized for their mistake. I would steer clear of this company, which has no integrity or customer service skills.
We are now looking to inspect and possibly tent a second property and will definitely be looking elsewhere.

I originally called Bowman’s for a quote on a bird nest removal and installation of bird spikes around my property. The receptionist on the phone was very accommodating and scheduled an appointment for the next day. The inspector came out and was very professional and courteous so I asked him to also give me a quote for regular pest control services since we are currently with Terminix and I’d prefer to support local companies.
I was promised a quote within 24hrs; however after 2 days I didn’t receive a quote so I called to follow up. Receptionist was very courteous and said she would follow up and get back to me. 2 days later I still had no quote or return call so I called the inspector; again he was courteous and said he would follow up and call me back. After no return call from him, I called the office again to follow up… courteous as always she promised to call me right back. Sadly, it’s been a week and I have no quote or return calls… obviously they don’t want my business. So much for supporting local!

Poor customer service at the Kailua-​Kona office. Called for a fumigation estimate on a Monday and was given a time on the next Friday for an inspection/​estimate, however on Thursday the office called and said that they had to cancel and move the date to the next Tuesday which I agreed to. Then the office called again on Friday and said that it was determined that they could not fumigate in my area at all due to their work truck not being able to access my subdivision. This was an unacceptable excuse as my subdivision has good paved road access and several other fumigation companies drive down here and operate. At the very least the office person should have known which areas they service and let me know from the first day that they did not want my business, not string me along and then cancel. Very unprofessional service from this office in Kona. I called Terminex after that and had a representative come out to my house within 2 hours of the call and fumigation was scheduled for less than a week away. I am a retired real estate broker who has worked with many fumigation companies here in Hawaii over the years including Bowman Termite in Hilo and never had this poor, unprofessional service happen. Sometimes when a company expands too much and the owners lose control it results in bad service.

Five whoofs. Bruce Bowman has been to our house several times and I like him. He is always helpful and sincere. We have an ongoing monthly service and they do a good job. I would recommend them to other Unilocaler’s

From Sandy who takes your call, to Dane and the other techs who come to service and evaluate, this company is first rate. They are courteous, honest and fair, and most important, get the job done. I have recommended them to many and have always been glad i did!

We have been using Bowman Termite since 2003. They are always professional, and when we have issues, they manage to get someone out to the house right away. I have recommended them to several friends in the neighborhood because I am so pleased with their customer service.

I am in the real estate business so I have a lot of contact with pest control companies and those companies that issue termite information reports. I have always found Bowman Termite to be very trustworthy and a company that the public can have complete confidence in. They always look at the truth of the situation rather than «What’s in for me». When asked who to recommend, I always pick Bowman Termite at the top of the list. They rate high on ethics, fairness and reliability.

Bruce is a real professional at what he does. I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone needing Termite Inspections or Pest Control. And the staff is super friendly and very accommodating.
