The Food’s the best on the West Side.
Hamburgers and Loco Moco the biggest and best I tasted on Island yet. The Wipeout Burger is BOMB! Chicken is also very Juicy, takes 20 minutes to cook, they cook it Fresh.:):):)
The Pancakes is Hands Down the BEST! They got Guava, Lilikoi, Cookie Butter, Banana, and
Maple Bacon Toppings.
The Deserts are Huge and very Tasty,
Banana Split is Huge and served like in the 50s
Fried Ice Cream is very Huge and Ice Cream is Still firm on the inside just amazing and Awesome Banana Bread Pudding served with Vanilla Ice Cream.
The wait can be a little Long, because the burgers are huge and they cook there food FRESH!
The Place is Immaculately Clean! I am amazed at how Clean their Bathroom is. It is the Cleanest Bathroom I have ever seen!:):):)

I finally Had to post after eating here for several months, I wanted to eat here a dozen times before I Judge their business, since they have opened less than a year.

The wait was incredibly long… Especially when there’s no one in front of you. It was quite questionable why I was still waiting. But I was told by a friend that the food was worth waiting for so I waited, 45 minutes to have my order taken at the takeout window and for my order to be made. Was it worth the wait? For food was fair to just ok. I could even say tasty and the portions are a pretty good amount, but you are paying almost $ 10 a plate. The outside sitting area was nice and clean and the small Air conditioned dining area and restroom was also clean. The staff was nice, when they were addressing you. But don’t bother when they are not. I wondered while I was there o
if the problem was more a staff with lack of food industry experience? It seemed they were trying but kay couldn’t manage. So I’m not totally faulting them for it. It’s always nice to have another dining option in Waianae so I may try them again… but will definitely have to seriously considering it first becuase of the wait.

Been coming here on an off for 3 months. The staff are very friendly. I always use the take out window cause inside seems to be always full. So far we have ordered the Club house, hamburgers, French toast, loco, breakfast plates that have eggs, bacon, rice were good, pancakes are huge an tasty.

service is so slow here it is ridiculous. I read the review of not having to go Into town for good shave ice, but at this rate I could have drove there and came back. so seriously service is really bad. Also the shave ice was really bad, it had no flavor what so ever. It was like eating ice. And I gave it 1 star because of location only.

Sweet little restaurant on the West Side. Awesome service and food. My husband said the ham steak was the best he’s ever had. So many menu choices and specials that looked so good! We’re definitely going back!

Still our fav resto in Waianae. We’ve been here so many times… This time we tried two new dishes, a pork steak and BBQ stick. The pork steak tasted good but was a little tough. We’ve learned to stick with the roasted pork instead… however, the BBQ stick, while small, was fantastic. It’s a nice teriyaki stick. Try it; you won’t be disappointed!

Several friends like place recommended. Locomoco was more than filling! Wife had sandwich. You get what you pay for and the serving is filling!

Wow, finally got there for breakfast. Our party had banana bread french toast, pancakes with cookie topping, another with guava topping and a fried rice omelette. They were all amazing.
Way to Go Manny. Great job. If you go on the weekend you can eat on the patio or short wait but well worth it for sure. You gotta try it.

Maybe the best chicken katsu I have had anywhere — really crispy batter, good sauce. They took awhile to make it, but it was worth the wait. The outdoor seating area is really nice with umbrellas and landscaping, and it was clean. I hope I get to come back here for another plate lunch or breakfast.

Delicious goodness. Best Homemade Hamburger patties ever. Cute and cozy lil restaurant. Loved the atmosphere. Quick and good service.

Yesterday we tried the shaved ice here. I didn’t even know that they were open for food and snacks. I remember about 30 years ago when there used to be Nene’u Snack Shop in this exact location. I can’t ever forget how delicious their shaved ice was and you know, the shaved ice here is just as fine and soft. There are 10 different flavors of syrups like cotton candy, lime, mango, watermelon with li-​hing powder if you want.
The owners aren’t the same as before but I’m so happy that we don’t have to drive to town to get great shaved ice. We will be sure to try the food too

It’s been a long time since I bought anything from this location. I remember buying shave ice back in the day.
Anyways this place first impression is very clean, very clean. Also it’s nice and cool, the A/​C works well. Our waitress is very nice and helpful. Parking is convenient right out front, I guess cause it’s a work day? Coffee is ono and water is clean and clear. Only bummer so far is there is a pastry display but I guess not enough people like doughnuts or malasadas anymore ovahea. Menu is easy enough to choose from. Oh yea, lunch plates start at 11.
It’s worth the drive from Anywheres. Food is delicious.

My previous review was about my breakfast experience. This review is based on my lunch experience.
Few times I had decided to have lunch at Pokai Bay Restaurant. Each of those times I had ordered the Clubhouse Sandwich.
The first time around I had to wait almost half an hour for my food to arrive. It was summer time and the restaurant was pretty busy. The Clubhouse Sandwich came with french fries… a lot of french fries on a separate plate instead of on the same plate as the sandwich. I managed to eat all the sandwich. The french fries was a bit too much for me so I ended up asking for a takeout box.
The last couple times my wait time was less than 10 minutes. It could be that summer is over and the students are back in school so it seemed a bit slower than usual. Then again it could be an experienced waitress who manages to get everyone’s order out in time without any customers complaining. Mahalo Johnette for being a wonderful waitress and taking care of all your customers needs.
The Clubhouse Sandwich came with a scoop of macaroni salad and tuna mixed into it as well as a slice of pickle. I ate the entire Clubhouse Sandwich as well as my macaroni/​tuna salad.
I need to remember that Pokai Bay Restaurant has other menu items for the customers to enjoy. For now… I would rather stick to the Clubhouse Sandwich until I get sick and tired of eating it for lunch.
Reminder: Pay waitress at the cashier. Establishment accepts credit cards. If you have a chip credit card there is no tip line on the receipt. Make sure to have cash on hand if you want to tip your waitresses.

We came here for breakfast as first timers on the morning of my birthday. The restaurant was full but as birthday luck would have it, one table opened up just as we scanned the room for a place to sit. Yay us! We take our seats and the waitress immediately wiped up the table and handed us menus. Wow! Talk about choices! It took a few minutes to decided and the waitress was quick to take our order. We ordered the fried rice omelette, corned beef hash and eggs, a three choice omelette of bacon, mushrooms & green onion, and a short stack of Cookie Butter pancakes to share. Yes, you read right… COOKIE BUTTER PANCAKES! Our orders came out quickly and we were pleasantly impressed with everything we had — especially them pancakes! They were HUGE and oh so fluffy and yummy! The cookie butter sauce was perfectly sweet but not too sweet and the pancakes themselves were fluffy and moist.
The staff was fast, attentive and very friendly. The place is small but clean snd comfortable. There is one unisex bathroom in the restaurant. The inside holds about 6 booths (one is a two-​seater), and there are a bunch of tables with umbrellas outside as well.
The one thing I was sad about was that their bakery display case was empty with a sign that the bakery portion will be closed until further notice. Wah!
Needless to say, we had Birthday Breakfast Success! So glad to have this awesome place right down the road. Next time i’m gonna try the Guava pancakes! Can’t wait!

Ordered the Locomoco. There were two scoops of rice, Mac salad and two large homemade hamburger pattys that took up the whole bottom of the tray. Two eggs and gravy all over. Hannara’s has to take down their sign, this is by far the best hamburger on the coast.

We walk in and sit at the only empty table to be told it’s reserved. Wow. Ok we get up and leave. We will eat somewhere else. Next time we visit I say hi to a customer I know and sit at one of two empty tables to be told both tables are taken! Fine. We will go eat somewhere else! There are choke tables outside to accommodate large groups. Put a reserved sign on the table or something. I guess the lesson to be learned is to ask permission before sitting down. Or call ahead to make a reservation. Never mind. We will go eat somewhere else.

For a small restaurant they are slow they can’t keep up with keeping the tables clean. Flys in the restaurant if I wanted Flys I would have ate outside customers sit down before the tables get clean. Our server was ok she tried to explain her items on the menu

Food is good but the cashier’s are unprofessional and SLOW!!! Need better service!!! Takeout takes forever just to get your order taken!!! Then FOREVER to get the food!!! We’ll come on rare occasions to support our local spots but they need to step up their customer service skills…
Update: I guess I spoke too soon… I was reviewing the food from a previous eating experience. But this time there is no food to review. After an hour of waiting I demanded a refund because my Pork Cutlet w/​gravy was still not done while all my other food has been sitting on the counter for God knows how long already.
What made it funny was their reply to me asking for a refund. «You don’t want ANY of the food?» Um no… Not after its been sitting there for at least 20 minutes (when I first noticed it through the window).
Come to find out they gave my food to one of the tables inside by accident and just felt like they shouldn’t say anything to me, just let me, my husband, and my kids wait FOREVER! Like I said in the beginning of this review CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!!

Shave ice is what we came here for. And won’t be coming back for. I’ve never seen a shave ice so small. I’ve been all over the island and got from many different places and this place is the winner for TINY shave ice. I for sure won’t be back for shave ice here.
A small without ice cream is $ 1.50. A small with ice cream cost $ 2.50. Snow cap is $ 0.50. The other prices is on the photo I posted. But that is pretty much what I got, Smalls.
The cashier takes FOREVER in taking orders. She literary writes down word for word and then rings you up. I don’t mind that but if you are the take out order person it’s not a good thing. You gotta be fast. Shoot even cashier you gotta be fast and correct. She was charging me the wrong amount three times. First for 6 shave ice with 5 ice cream and 2 snow cap was $ 19.62. It shouldn’t be that much. Tax here is almost 5%. She finally kind of got it right. We went outside to wait cause inside is small. That’s the reason for take out. But it was raining and I wasn’t gonna let the kids stay out there for a long period of time. I thought it was gonna be a quick order guess not.
Well the place is cute. Food looks like Zippy’s menu and price. Maybe I’ll be back. But they need to train the cashier. With simple math cause I really don’t think she knows what she was doing. I even added up my order so I would not be over charged or at least have the money ready.

Food was delicious. The one dish that shined was the guava pancakes. Yummy!!! We also ordered a corned beef hash plate and a breakfast pac. Both were good.
The only thing I didn’t like was the ac was kinda cold. I guess it’s because we were sitting right under the vent. Other than that, our experience was fantastic!
Will definitely return.
