AmericInn Waconia Lodge & Suites

The good:
HotTub room on the weekends only $ 139. More extensive than average breakfast. Pool for the kids. The Beds are comfy, rooms are quiet, and the showers are hot with plenty of pressure.
The bad: breakfast was 100% carbs. The bedding is a top quilt and a top sheet. If you prefer a soft blanket to the standard hotel scratchy top quilt, you are out of luck. The towels are child sized. The front door has no auto opener.

Spent 2 nights here. I was pleased with room. The beds we not comfortable. There was 2 queen beds in the room. I slept in both of them. They both need to be replaced. The staff was very nice. I would be willing to stay there again. I did not swim but checked out the pool area. I wanted to swim but was too tired to after I went back to the room. Nice tv on top of the dresser were it should be so it can be seen while laying in bed.

It is really the only game in town and it us a fine place to stay. Good breakfast, free Internet for multiple devices, clean rooms and friendly staff. A nice quiet, «homey» stay. The closest major hotel chain is probably about 20 miles away.

Some things to note about the Americinn in Waconia. 1. It has a great location, right near the hospital, one a main strip through Waconia, and close to many amenities. 2. Despite the good location, it is very difficult to find and they lack signage to the enterance. 3. It is new construction which leads me to believe this is the reason that they are lacking signage.
This Americinn does not have the push button doors that allow those in wheel chairs or have walking assistance to easily open the doors. I did hear one customer complain about this. The rooms are nice, standard for Americinn, clean and large. However, I have stayed in other Americinns that featured sound protection through the walls. This new construction, unfortunatly did not have this feature. While hotels cannot prevent inconsiderate guests, my neighbor decided to play music all through the night, just loud enough that I could hear the base over the air conditioner.
The employees were always very helpful and kind. They did an excellent job with any assistance that we needed. The lobby is nice, cozy and inviting.
The breakfast was ok. Standard breakfast of sausage, cereal, waffles. The coffee was very good.
I will visit here again as the location is good. I think some of the kinks will be worked out as the time passes.
