Food was ok but not worth the money. The food was comparable to Denny’s in my opinion. If you are out for atmosphere and not worried about quality of food then This place is good for you but, if you want bang for your buck and you like good food I would pass this place by

I have never sent a meal back, I’m embarrassed for people who complain, I tip very well even for average service. Tonight, after many times dining at this restaurant, I decided I would never go back. One of the people at our table of 10 sent her meal back without touching more than one bite. I ordered Ahi Tuna *RARE* that was white in the middle. My husband ordered Ahi Tuna *RARE* that was light pink in the middle. We both ate our meals even though they were horribly prepared — and because I never send anything back. I ordered Pork Tenderloin for my little ones. When it came out it looked like small chops but we had waited for a long time so I just gave them their food. When we got our ticket we were charged for lamb chops. I brought it to the waitresses attention and asked her to adjust the price from lamb chops, $ 36 to the pork tenderloins I had ordered. We waited a lot longer. The manager came out and said since the kids ate their meal they would not adjust the ticket. We eat out all over the country two weeks out of every month at lovely restaurants. I watch people complain about ridiculous things and get their meals for free. I would NEVEREVERASKFORORACCEPT A FREEMEAL. But this… I have never been treated so rudely by a manager or anyone. I will not go back to this establishment and encourage everyone who eats here to watch your platse carefully and if it’s not right — send it back. I’m not sure what is different about this place that I have frequented over the years but I assure you it is not the same lovely place it once was.

This is a great family owned restaurant. It is such a great spot if you like fresh ingredients and fresh seafood. I ordered an appetizer of oysters. They were extremely fresh and tasty, for my entrée I had the Sea Bass with peas and potato medley, I was blown away. It was full of flavor and you can tell that they take pride in the food they serve. My friend had the beef wellington and she loved it as well. This is one of my favorite spots in waco because of the quality and freshness of the food. I see some pretty harsh reviews, go and try it out. You won’t be disappointed. Don’t let some of these bad reviews keep you from trying this fantastic restaurant.

A locally owned and ran non-chain restaurants in Waco based on Mediterranean(Greek) & Italian influenced dishes. The brick building has architectural archways and a large outdoor patio seating area. If you are stopping by for lunch, lamb gyros are a must. Pitas are made in-house. Freshly made tzatziki sauce and of course the lamb is also cooked in house on a traditional spit. I would recommend swapping out the french fries for a salad. For dinner there are many options. Chicken, beef, lamb, fish and pasta. Fish is always a great choice. Some options can be a pricier but Ive never been disappointed. Bread and most deserts are made in-house. Pinewood Roasters have a special 1424 roast created to brew you a fresh cup of coffee or cappuccino. Large wine selection that covers a wide price range. The best is you can always rely on a Texas greeting from Sally or Kelly. A place you must stop by if you are looking for something besides the boring chain restaurants that inundate Waco!

Absolutely love 1424 Bistro! The choices are endless and the quality of the food is impeccably fresh. After living in Washington my whole life, I am used to fresh seafood and was pleasantly surprised by how exceptional their fish was! Love their spicy rice pilaf and broccoli was perfectly steamed! Unlimited healthy options. Staff is always friendly. Recommended for all!

I loved the healthy food. Salmon, asparagus, broccoli, salad. I am stuffed with the delicious and healthful flavors of the Mediterranean. Excellent service and a very nice atmosphere. This road warrior enjoyed his meal and experience here.

My husband and I were looking for a nicer place for dinner, and had heard good reviews of 1424 once upon a time. Unfortunately those reviews were a thing of the past. We ordered the fruit and cheese appetizer and received squishy grapes, some orange slices and some cubed white cheese and a green/blue colored cheese. When we asked about the grapes, the waiter quickly retorted that the grapes were«special.» The tortilla soup was really salty and the cesear salad had zero flavor. We cancelled our main dish after seeing the grapes, so I can’t comment on the fish, but honestly, I’m glad we got out when we did. We really wanted to like it, but we left disappointed that another Waco establishment has taken a turn for the worse.

This place is very relaxing and has a wonder atmosphere. The service was quick and very friendly. I ordered the lunch portion Salmon with rice, both of which were perfect. Then for dessert we ordered the White chocolate bread pudding!!! Amazing! Definitely returning.

Pretty good restaurant. Got the chicken alfredo, which was good but not crazy amazing. They serve a LOT of fish, which I don’t really like, so I think if you enjoy seafood you might like this restaurant a lot. Staff was friendly, but maybe a little unattentive.

We took our friends here for their first time at this restaurant last night. They were nervous to try something new but were not disappointed! Our waitress was great! She had a good sense of humor and was very knowledgable. The food was amazing! We ordered the mussels and oysters for appetizers, the seafood and Wellington were delicious too. Definitely a cool place to try if want to change up your routine!

We hosted my sister’s surprise 70th birthday party here for about 40 people. I was worried about living in Dallas and planning a party in Waco but the staff at 1424 Bistro made it so easy. They set the room up just as I requested and the food, drink and service were excellent. They were a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them.

Thank you 1424 and staff for a lovely, pretty much perfect evening celebrating my mom’s 80th birthday! We live out of state but if we lived near Waco, this would be a go-to place. What a wonderful little gem in a town that’s not exactly known for its culinary scene. ;) Service: — I called weeks in advance to make a reservation and coordinate making the evening special for my mom who was turning 80. My mom has some health issues that cause her to get severe headaches if she’s subjected to loud noises. The manager assured me that they had just the spot for us where it would be quiet and more private. It turned out that since their back room used for private parties wasn’t booked, we got the whole room to ourselves. It was a cute room with brick walls, low lighting, and candles… and very quite just as promised. — Our waiter was great — attentive and personable without being overbearing. — They let us bring in a custom made birthday cake from a local shop — we brought it in earlier in the day and they kept it in the refrigerator for us. Then when it was time to serve it, they put candles in and served it on a pretty china plate so the presentation looked great.(They did charge a $ 2 plate fee per person which seems a little silly, but I get it.) Food: — Yum, yum, yum. We all loved the appetizer we shared(we chose raw oysters — they were fresh and flavorful) and our meals. Personally, I had the salmon with spicy rice pilaf and the potato medley. The salmon and potato medley were so good they’re craveable! I see that some reviews say their meals lacked flavor and such — makes me wonder if there’s more than one chef and they got someone new or something because we’re awfully picky about our meals and it was all good to us. Again, thank you 1424 — my mom is still talking about the lovely weekend we spent celebrating her birthday and our time dining with you was one highlight of the weekend.

This is my second visit to this restaurant after almost 4 years. The food and service still solid. I tried the salmon with lemon sauce and it was awesome, the portions are huge if you order appetizers be ready to take some leftovers. The chocolate crème brûlée was ridiculously good. A must have if you like chocolate.

Went for lunch today at the recommendation from a friend. Also because they are pet friendly. What a great patio and likely the best club sandwich I have ever had. The service was fantastic and they were so good with our Weimeraner Tobbe! Well done and we will definitely be back! Thanks so much folks.

Legit. The whole package. Service quick, pleasant and attntive. Food is lovely, wine list is super long(I’m not wine literate so i can’t say if it’s a great list, but lots of diners around us seemed to be enjoying their selections). Diverse menu, beef Wellington is greatness. Shrimp ettoufee is really good as well. Table side cheese flambé was fun and tasty. Not cheap, but i believe you get what you pay for here.

We were looking for a unique restaurant to eat at while on a work trip to Waco. While our server was very attentive, the restaurant was lacking in the flavor department. It also had a very unique smell. I ordered the salmon with asparagus and carrots. It came with a Caesar salad, which wasn’t too bad. My fish was just okay, but my veggies were completely bland. The asparagus and carrots had no flavor — it tasted like they had just been steamed with no seasonings. The only saving grace behind this dinner was the French silk mousse cake(I don’t remember if that’s it’s official name), but it was phenomenal. I wish I had gotten one of those to eat as my meal!

Best gyro I’ve ever had! I was told by the server that the lamb shank is slow-roasted all night, and the amount of meat inside the homemade pita bread was disappointing. The feta and Greek olive appetizer was perfect, and the French silk mousse cake dessert was out of this world! The rest of the menu looks amazing, and I will definitely go back to try something else. This chef obviously knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. Very impressive menu. The wine menu could be updated a bit, and the service could be more attentive, which is the only reason I did not give 1424 all five stars.

A menu that covers all the bases you could want and every dish done right. Their mutton chops were indescribable. The bar is fantastic as well.

One of the best restaurants in Waco. It is a little pricey, but the food is worth it. The ambience is elegant and romantic. I love the southwest tilapia. You can go off-menu and get the delicious stuffed grape leaves. If you want something light go for the grilled chicken caesar salad, the best I’ve ever had.

What used to be a delicious restaurant where one could enjoy a consistently fresh and flavorful meal, is now a place that serves freshly THAWED(then steamed) sides. Their cheese plate is a sad joke. Expect to pay too much for something worse than what someone like me(i.e. zero culinary skills) could make at home. It’s insulting. Want to speak to Aris(the owner/Head Chef)? Good luck. The other managers(i spoke with some woman named Sally) might offer you a free appetizer next time you visit, but don’t expect any sort of apology or sign of remorse for your disappointing experience. Bottom line: Don’t let the charming ambiance fool your tastebuds. You have options, exercise them — 135 Prime/Diamond Back’s/The Grape/cooking at home/eating leftovers/not eating at all
