Note, I travel for work throughout most of Indiana… I stay in a minimum of 5 – 7 hotels monthly so I’ve seen great, good, and the very bad. Overall, this hotel was fine… reading some of the reviews I was concerned. I stayed on the 3rd floor and my room was very clean including the bathroom(which is always an issue everywhere I go). I arrived very late from work, so I couldn’t hear much noise since most people were probably asleep. The only weird thing was the entrance, there is no easy way to get in… you have to go through the Walmart parking lot which was just strange. I would stay there again if I am driving through.

For a small town hotel this HIE was definitely better than I had expected. Friendly desk staff, nice rooms that looked to be recently updated. Decent restaurants within walking distance. This hotel is located behind a Kroger, and you have to navigate around either side of the store to get here. It isn’t difficult in daylight but on my first visit when I arrived late at night it was slightly confusing. I drove around the back of Kroger, between large dumpsters and parked semis, to find the hotel. I travel for work and know that most smaller towns don’t offer hotels as nice as this one.

Perfectly acceptable hotel in a smaller town with few other options. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. The carpet must have been new because my room’s carpet felt really plush. Also the AC was awesome and not loud at all. The only ding here is that the shower was slow to drain. I will come back to the area soon and will stay here again.

By far one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I travel with my job and I stay in 4 – 5 hotels a week and I’ve never had such a bad experience at a hotel. The front desk staff was extremely rude wouldn’t let me check in although they let half of my party check in just 10 minutes before. I had a staff member snatch, yes snatch my room keys out of my hand. I also witnessed several eye rolls as well as loud annoyed sighs. After finally checking in after 30 mins I wondered though the furniture filled hallways to my uncleaned room. The floor was clearly unvacuumed, the shower drain was full of hair, and there were cobwebs all over the lights in the bathroom(which I’m sure belonged to the three spiders I found in the bathroom). Not to mention I found bed bugs in my bed and when I called down to switch rooms the staff was just horrible to deal with. I’m sorry but if I have bed bugs you better be finding me a new room not complaining that you’re busy and you’ll let me know. I hate writing bad reviews for places but this one was definitely necessary.

We stayed at this Holiday Inn Express last weekend. The hotel itself was nice and standard, no real complaints about the interior. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. But seriously, what is UP with the parking and the getting into this place? It is insane! My husband is a civil engineer that builds roads and parking lots so his mind was just blown. It was so hard to figure out how to get into this place. Then on top of it the parking lot is super small. So when I came back to the hotel late at night alone there was no parking at all to be found. The clerk told me I could go park way behind the Kroger where the semis park. In the dark. Alone. In heels. Yeah no, not happening. Thankfully, the clerk saw my hesitant look and offered to go move their car for me so that I could park in the safer lot. So kudos for fantastic staff who went above and beyond!

We planned to attend a B.B. King concert in Wabash at the Honeywell Center on January 11, 2011. Living a little over 100 miles away and knowing that winter weather can hit at any time in Indiana we booked a room at the Wabash Holiday Inn Express. The first thing I want to say is that the place is hard to actually get to. You have to drive through a strip mall parking lot with a Kroger store at the east end. The entrance road to the Holiday Inn was not marked very well(maybe due to blowing snow) and is on the north end of the Kroger store. You can see the Holiday Inn from across the parking lot though. The check-in was easy, no problems at all. Our room was on the third or three floors. The way the building is arranged was somewhat strange. The elevator, and there is only one, is located at the north end of the building. There are no stairs or elevators in the middle of the building. At the south end of the building, which was close to our room there are stairs but no elevator. There is only parking on the west(front) and some on the north side of the building. The room is large enough to get around in without tripping over furniture. We had a king sized bed which was comfortable. There is a desk with a chair and a comfortable side chair with hassock. The heating system worked well and was quiet. There is a microwave and mini refrigerator as well as an ironing board with iron and a hair dryer in the bathroom. There is an open closet to hang items with maybe six hangers. The dress has two large drawers. The bathroom is large enough to not trip over yourself while in it. It would be crowded with two people in it though. They have a pool on the main floor but we did not use it or the fitness area although both appeared to be clean and usable. There is a breakfast in the morning which was surprisingly diverse. Cheese omelets, biscuits with sausage gravy, bread and bagels with a toaster, yogurt, danish, cereal, condiments, coffee and juice. We found the breakfast pretty good and filling. It was brought to our attention that there is a business center but we did not use or look at it so I can’t say anything about it. They have wireless internet that was quick and easy to access in the room. Each time you turn on your laptop you have to log back on though. Overall the experience was pleasant and devoid of any drama. While checking Trip Advisor before booking it looks like the options are limited if you want to stay in Wabash. On paper this seems to be the best value for you money with other places being way too high and others being somewhat iffy. One piece of advice I would offer the owners is to tone down or get rid of the«If you steal our towels you will get charged $xx more than they could possibly be worth» signs or the $ 100.00 smoking fee sing or some of the other little digs. Had very little interaction with the staff but they all were friendly.
