We stayed here a week ago. The place is truly at the end of the road. Don’t let the dumpy near-by houses scare you off. The lady is an excellent host, and the home is very clean. She is well-organized and provides clear instructions. The breakfast was not much, but know that going in… her comfy home more than makes up for it. If she cooked home-made waffles she could charge a lot more for the stay. The freezer waffles were good enough… and the overall stay was great. We would like to visit again and stay here next time too. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. A+ is my grade for this place.

My wife and I spent three nights here to be near HVNP. We found the accommodations very comfortable, and the stay at this B&B an outstanding value. Ray and Lani are literally opening their home to their guests, and they mad us feel like part of their ohana. Being literally at the end of Haunani Road, it is very quiet which makes sleeping with the windows open very nice. They have only two rooms, one that has a bathroom directly connected, and the other has a private bath down the hall(this is the one we had). Ray’s radiates aloha and eased our grumpiness from our flight and made us welcome. We met Lani at breakfast the next morning. She is an artist and has many of her photographs on display as well as here handicrafts. Breakfast serves its purpose to break the nights fast. It is simple but ample — we both thought the coffee was very good as was the papaya that my wife had. We both look forward to staying here again and renewing our acquaintances. We both definitely recommend Ray’s and Lani’s At the End of the Road B&B to those wanting an affordable, comfortable, homey place to stay on the Big Island near the Volcanoes Park. If you are wanting a fancy breakfast, stay elsewhere and pay much more. We didn’t see any horses, but we did see three goats and several birds, including a couple of endemics: ‘Apapanes and Hawaii ‘Amakihi in addition to introduced Saffron Finches and Japanese White-eyes Penny and Dave

My boyfriend and I were island-hopping with friends, and we were staying in Volcano for a night. Because the accommodations were so cheap, we decided to stay here. It is very close to the Volcano National Park. The house was extremely cute, and there were a number of horses around the property. The owner met us when we arrived, and he was very nice. The breakfast was simple but pretty good. I had toast with honey, tea, juice, and half a papaya. My only complaint would be that beds are a bit lumpy. This could easily be remedied with an egg-crate cushion of some sort. I would stay here again. It is an extremely great value.
