I love Sushi On The Edge! Their sushi always tastes fresh, the ingredients are great. I love the Rockstar Roll and the Spicy Tuna has great consistency. Have you ever had tuna so mushy it’s like it has already been chewed? Yeah, not here. The customer service is great. The people are friendly. The chefs are good, and the rolls are consistently made. The service is slow, so don’t expect fast responses, and sometimes calls may go unanswered because people are washing dishes in the back. But just walk in and order. You won’t regret it.

This little place could be good. It isn’t due to a huge discrepancy in quality and service. Ok, the service is always slow for no reason at all. A few days ago my food was stale, unappetizing and when I let the server know his response was nothing. This after I had to get up to get my check. Never going back.

Came here last night, got a few rolls with friends and some appetizers. It was slow, We sat ourselves, waitress brought us some menus and took our order. Food was really good, prices were good, menu was nice with pictures and descriptions for every roll. I’ll definitely be coming back here again Update: I’ve visited twice more since this review, my most recent visit the service was verrry very slow due to being short staffed I guess. Food was still as good as always though!

I love this place! The Coco Crunchy roll is excellent, we also tried the Tempura Chicken roll, which I’ve never seen on any menu before, that was also excellent. Great service and very friendly staff. I like that they serve a lot of local brews. We will definitely go back for more.

I’ve never had a bad experience here. In fact I used to always go to a sushi place across the street, but now this is my regular sushi spot. The service is good and so is the sushi.

Sushi here is average. A solid amount of creativity, but an unfortunately large amount of rolls with krab. They have a HUGE menu of local craft beers… but are out of 80−90% of them all the time. All of this would normally rank 2 – 3 stars, however the real disappointment here is the service. The service here is routinely so HORRIBLE that on our most recent visit we were sat at a dirty table and ignored for 15 minutes without even being asked if we even wanted some water. Not quite sure how you manage that as a server… sit someone down at a dirty station, don’t ask if they want drinks, and then disappear for 15 minutes. It wasn’t as if he was even helping someone else, which could be understandable, he vanished. Avoid this place and take your money somewhere else that has better product, has what the menu says in stock, has better service, and wants your business.

this place USED to be great. The service recently has gotten worse and worse. my wife and i used to come here ALL the time but never again. The last time we were there we sat and waited for 20 minutes before anyone came and talked to us and another 45 minutes before the server came by to tell us that she lost our ticket and we would need to order again. THENTHEYMIXEDUPOURORDER! get it together guys. You lost 2 loyal customers.

I have been going here since they opened and am writing this review with the hope they get it together. The sushi has been constantly good. The have a nice beer selection. The problem is they always seems to be in chaos. People I know who go there say the same thing. Usually there is one server working tables AND ringing up to go orders. Often I have seen dine in customers asking for service while pick-up customers are waiting to pay while their sushi orders sit on the counter. Because of this we started just picking up our orders. The last three times we have ordered we have been shorted sashimi once and have been overcharged once(both blamed on new employees). While I was having a pleasant conversation about the charge with a very nice young lady who has been there for a long time a sushi chef who I had never seen before chose to interject his opinion. He obviously had not even heard all of what the woman and I were talking about and his comment was inappropriate and definitely not appreciated. After all, they overcharged me. At that point I got pissed. The woman I was dealing with sent him to the back and gave me my refund. As I left she said, «PLEASE come back». This young dark haired girl… maybe Brazilian and a young blonde male server are always great, but always seem to be overworked. I am not sure who the owner or manager is, but they better get a handle on the service problem. People are getting fed up… your ratings are down to three stars.

Sushi on the Edge is my favorite sushi bar! No matter when I show up the faces are friendly and the food is great. The atmosphere is casual and laid back and the price is just right. Stop by have a drink and a roll!

Let me start out by shouting in all caps: WELOVETHISPLACE! We’ve ordered take out sushi probably five times since we moved in nearby in Jan. 2015. We normally order the California Roll, Philly Roll, one of their specialty rolls or just the regular crunch roll. Every time, simply superb freshness, quality and taste! Probably the best Cali Rolls we’ve ever had. We’ll be coming back again and again, highly recommended!

I order to go twice here because it’s right next to my chiropractor. Don’t expect authentic sushi and stuff but their rolls were actually not bad. The flavor was good with fresh avocado, nori, good sushi rice and crispy soft shell crab. The servers were nice but they were not attentive at all. Maybe they were understaffed most of the time? One time I walked in and approached the cashier/sushi bar. It’s funny how the sushi chef completely actively ignored me even after I said hello. Wow! What a jerk! Then the busy server finally saw me and apologized to me for keeping me waiting and kindly took my order. Wow but that middle-aged Latino-looking male sushi chef’s attitude just blew my mind away.

Just discovered this little gem. You can belly up to the bar or grab a small table. Fast service, fresh fish and lots of options.

Sushi on the Edge is a great spot for lunch. Poke salad big thumbs up for unapologetically spicy dressing. Lots of craft beer choices! I wish we could have lunch here every week. Ask about the specials before you order. They seemed to have a lot of fresh options that were not in the menu. The service was attentive and friendly. It was priced appropriately– the poke salad is an exceptional deal.

So yummy! Oh my goodness! We devoured our rolls! We ordered: Philadelphia Role, Crunchy Role, Caterpillar Roll, and a Rainbow Roll! Mind blowing! The fish tastes like it’s supposed to taste like! Great server, his name is Nat! However what made me feel uncomfortable was the drama, so MUCHDRAMA between a sushi chef, and a new employee of sushi chef was HORRIBLE. You’re not in high school, why argue about how the server is not your boss, and how the new guy is getting in your way. Get over yourself. The sushi is good, but the drama left a NASTY taste in my mouth.

HIGHLIGHTS: taste, quality, local brews I’ve been here twice since my first review and the business has improved. I really like that they offer 22’s of our local breweries(Stone, Belching Beaver, San Marcos Brewing, Iron Fist, Karl Strauss, and Mother Earth). As far as food goes, I’m not into really fishy tasting things, so I didn’t care for the Philadelphia roll(the salmon and seaweed was too much for me) but I really love the Hamachi and Sushi On The Edge rolls. They are both very mild, fresh, and have good flavor. My husband has tried the oysters and liked them. We’ve also had the cream cheese wontons(light and crispy wrappers) and my favorite are the shishito peppers in garlic soy sauce. They were out today though :( The business seems to be doing well, there is always a steady stream of clientele and we’ve been it at different hours. Keep on doing what you’re doing, SOTE!

I’ve given this place two tries now and I don’t think I’ll be back. I came once shortly after they first opened and wasn’t impressed so it took me nearly two years to return despite its convenient location from my office. My first visit was with a coworker and we split a variety of the frou-frou rolls. These were fine, but nothing extraordinary and I found myself underwhelmed by the quality and amount of fish in the rolls. I came back again today and once again was very let down by the fish. I got the lunch special — parts of which were nice. I liked that you could choose which sushi item came with the entrée and weren’t forced into a California roll, but this became a moot point when the nigiri I ordered was far under par. The maguro was pungent and fishy — not fresh tasting at all, the hamachi was dried out and bland, the sake(while tender and flavorful) was mangled by bad knife work(you can see this if you look closely at the photo I snapped). The only one of the four I enjoyed was the ebi — only because there was nothing wrong with it. I am sad to write such a negative review, because I really wanted to like it, since $ 9 for the combo is a nice deal and it’s diet friendly, but there’s just no way to forgive such poor quality in something as simple as nigiri. It does get one redeemed star for the teriyaki chicken, which was nice and grilled with blackening marks in it without being soggy or drowning in sauce. An honorable mention goes out to the huge bowl of miso soup that came with the lunch combo. The salad isn’t worth mentioning except to say that it too was included in the combo. Wish I had better things to say and was looking forward to visiting again, but unfortunately that is not the case this time.
