Vista isn’t the nicest city in North County and I’m sure some of the coastal communities have some very unkind things to say about it. If you take away the bitter beer purveyors you have to think hard for reasons to stop by. Jury duty and other legal matters are the likely top reasons, but it’s a stretch after that. The few places that I’ve really enjoyed have gone belly up like Famous Dave’s. Also, anything cool that gets started in Vista(Sonic and Smash Burger), other neighboring cities like San Marcos quickly solicit/approve/fast track. So why go to Vista when you can go to a nicer /safer city like San Marcos? In summation, keep on driving. Anything that you can find here can be found elsewhere. The good stuff. — The Yellow Deli. — URBN coal fired pizza. — Alta Vista Gardens — Pepper Tree Frosty.

Vista is a fairly good suburb about forty-five minutes away from San Diego. While the large mix of cookie cutter houses and office buildings might bore some, there are ways to get over it. The city has a nice array of stores and an authentic downtown. Supermarkets and Mexican restaurants are a frequent sight here. This is a great launchpad for going to the nearby communities of Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Diego and beaches throughout the county. Some improvements could be better public transportation which isn’t slow. Be sure to have air conditioning or buy a fan. Having a car is almost a requirement. I wouldn’t live here because I don’t like too much sun, but different strokes for different folks. House prices are rising and I can see why. Take a look at Vista.

To me Vista is coming up pretty quick with all these breweries and great places to eat. Ok so some parts of Vista are a little old and need a little cleaning up but just about every city has that. There are some very nice areas of Vista like in Shadowridge which is totally different then the area from Santa fe to Bobier. I like the downtown area because I feel like I’m getting the real Vista. Some great spots in Vista area Brengle Terrace park, anything downtown, the Wave water park and some great Mexican restaurants. Also whenever there is any type of festival it will most likely be in the downtown area. I’m still learning about Vista and wanting to spend more time here finding more cool things to do. I know there are a lot of gems in Vista I just have to find them.

Vista City officials need to take a serious look at their policies for those that want to have an EVENT in their town. The Vista Elks… who donate generously to the City of Vista had totally DENIED the use of any signs to display that their ANNUALSWAPMEET(with 30 Vendors — but space for 70). The turn out was so low as a result of NOT being able to display the EVENT out on the street of Vista Way. Many of the shoppers made that very comment…“why didn’t you have more signage?” We told them to talk to their City Government(few will). The effort to load up our wears, set up tents and tables for a hopefully successful event was squashed by the efforts of the City of Vista to keep their beautiful city sign free. We know for a FACT that when the City has elections, their candidates obstruct every corner of the City with their trash… and then NEVER even go to pick up their signs. It would have been such a lovely day if people only knew about the EVENT!!!

I’m a homer. Born and bred in Oceanside and quite honestly had reservations about the city as a whole, but that’s more the sports and school rivalries when I was a kid. As I’ve gotten older my hard corners and opinions have softened that none of that matters. I’ve explored it’s much more rural aspects and find it’s got way more character than Carlsbad, and more diversity than Oceanside. Food, people, everything and for the spice of life bravo. Breweries, Costco, Krikorian, Yellow Deli, Court House… and many other places you can only find here give them a uniqueness that probably gets overshadowed. I hear they get the best weather in the state when it comes to average temp, rainfall and sunny days. «Americas Climatic Wonderland». Not sure what that means, let alone how usefull of a city motto that is. I’m not so sure it’s a better place to live versus other places as I’ve never done so and of course there is no Ocean, but I’ll give them they are lenient on business licenses and certain taxes.

Ghetto?! Please… I lived and work in Vista for the last two years or so. I constantly heard co-workers and other randoms i met say that Vista is ghetto. Now I don’t know where your from and I’m not saying I’m cooler then you or anything but…“I was born in East L.A.!” Some parts of ELA are descent and well it’s like Lil TJ, but it’s all good, we got«lil» everything up there I swear… i.e. lil Tokyo, lil Ethiopia, just to name a few. I dunno maybe I didn’t live in the ghetto part of Vista but there’s nothing ghetto about it.
