Coming from a British heritage I love this place! My family and I have been coming here and enjoy not only the food but the British goodies! Great for our family parties! I recommend Bit O’ Britain for that old country food and fun.

A trip to Britain in Vista. A good selection of traditional British comfort foods that really do taste like a small family restaurant in the UK; British groceries(I need Yorkshire Gold tea and Crawford’s Garibaldi” raisin cookies); friendly service. Britain, easy peasy lemon squeezey…

This tea room is a pleasant little surprise tucked away in an industrial park in Vista. I attended a group event here and was pleased with the service, the ambiance, and the array and quality of food. I will definitely return for more!

This is a wonderful tea room and British store. The food is delicious and the people are wonderful. I would recommend the Scottish meat pies and Scotch eggs. Our group of 40 women had a afternoon tea here today and everyone enjoyed it. Thanks for such a nice afternoon.

I have treated myself to a «Bit O’Britain» on many Sunday afternoons for a pot of tea and Bangers and Mash after seeing a segment on Channel 10 news. You cannot find a better deal! A great place to meet up and catch up with friends. Family friendly with authentic imported candy and chocolates that my 8 year old looks forward to. They also have holiday themed chocolates and traditional treats during November/December — one stop stocking stuffers! This location is also a store so you can buy the tea that is served and other fun stuff, if you wish.

We were drinking at Toolbox Brewery with friends, and found out about this place from the owners, they said it’s within walking distance, we just have to place our order and they will deliver it to us once it’s ready. Sounds reasonable. So we walked here. There is plenty of parking. I immediately noticed a red telephone booth outside which was interesting to see. Once we walked inside it seemed a bit awkward as there was a tea party of 10 ladies or so and it was completely quiet when we walked in, something we were not used to walking inside of a restuarant. Everyone was staring at us like we didn’t belong, and it was very uncomfortable. However we were really hungry so we ignored the stares and went to the front to order. The lady who took our order usually works in the back area which she felt like she needed to mention to us as she couldn’t find the food items to key into the register, which wasn’t that big of a deal to us. Her tone was kind of rude when one of our friends wanted to order something she said are you sure you want to order that, I forgot what the item was but I guess it wasn’t all that common. I personally didn’t feel welcomed. In the meantime, I was looking around and noticed they had plenty of tables, one had a reserved sign on them, they also do tea parties here. The menu seems pretty basic 2 pages with sandwiches, fish and chips, salads, chili, just to name a few items. They sell candies, jelly’s, and other british food. There are pictures of Queen Elizabeth on the wall, and a queen’s guard throughout the store, the décor definitely replicated something out of England. Food, and merchandise are a bit pricey. I ordered a turkey sandwich which came with lettuce, tomato, american cheese, chopped white onions, mayo, mustard, and my choice of chips. It also came with a side of sliced sandwich pickles in a little container. I had there Tayto Pickled Onion chips which tasted amazing. I enjoyed my meal. My husband had their fish and chips, with french fries and he ordered a side of their sausage rolls. He thought the food was alright. Our meal came to $ 22 something with tax. Probably eat somewhere else first before drinking.

I was brought here by a British friend for lunch and it’s a pretty cool little place. The menu is small but from what I was told, pretty authentic. The items in the store were fun to browse through, but they are a bit on the pricy side.

We were SUPER excited to come here for dinner. We received a flyer at the Scottish Highland Games(that’s how we heard about this place). The flyer says open tues-thurs from 10 – 5; Fri-Sun 10 – 9. So… we get there and the sign says closed. The hours posted on the door reflected the accuracy of the closed sign, but not our flyer, and the flyer is not even 2 months old! :(We came all the way from corona. Hopefully one day we can taste a «Bit O’ Britain».

A refined British experience is yours to be had at Bit O’ Britain. This store and afternoon tea center can be found as part of a random business park. As such, there is lots of parking. Inside, you’ll see lots of tables, British food and knick knacks which remind everyone who walks through their doors of the home country. Candy bars, canned haggis and lots of shortbread are among what can be found on the shelves. I went in after having seen their previous location in the touristy part of Carlsbad. The owner was friendly and surely exemplified the expected accent. She gave me the menu and served me according to my order of sausage rolls and a pot of tea. They are willing to heat their refrigerated items for sit-down customers, which include their bangers and lots of pies. Ultimately, I just ordered off the menu. My tea put Starbucks to shame in terms of value. It was at least six tea cup’s worth of tea, cream and sugar, The tea cooled down easily without losing too much of its heat. The sausage rolls were a crispier version of a hot dog wrapped inside a flaky pastry. It was good even without the excellent sauce which accompanied my second sausage roll. My total was $ 5.50, not including tax. But there was more I was to do. I had the Snack bar, which is probably a chocolate covered shortbread. I was in utter awe of this culinary and ehtnic masterpiece. Don’t hesitate to visit Bit O’ Britain.

I didn’t eat in but rather wanted to check out the frozen food. It ranged from fairly overpriced to nuts. $ 10 for 2 little pork pies? Boo.

Here I go again! I am always on the lookout for tea houses whereever I am at. Especially when I am on a vacation or just out in a different area for the weekend. Anyways I found this place here on Unilocal. They were awesome! They are located inside a business park which was not expected but it actually is very kewl and it works. The ladies that were there are very friendly and nice. The place is actually quite large and well organized. They have lots of imported goodies to choose from. A whole wall and more of goodies. The prices are great for afternoon tea. Everything from the sausage rolls, sandwiches and tarts were great. I would definily tell family and friends and anyone who enjoys tea time to come check this place out. i have plans to come back here when I am back down here in Carlsbad.

I’ve been a loyal customer to this place, and slowly and surely this place is losing my patronage, and today is the last day I’ll ever step foot into this place. First off, the owner, though she is an excellent baker, is terrible in business decision making. Who the hell stops serving food at 330 pm, and then close half hour afterwards every day? And who the hell decides to stop serving food at 230 pm and never even bother to update its loyal customers about it days in advance via Facebook page or other media? I showed up to this place today at 2:28 pm… only to be turned away by this place because they stop serving food today at 2:30PM… seriously, you turned me(one of your long time customers) away because I showed up 2 minutes PRIORTO you closing EARLYWITHOUTNOTICE??? Apparently they are not worried about keeping their long term customers, because I’m sick and tired of having to schedule my entire day based on the short business hours of this place. A business is supposed to cater to the customers’ needs, including the customers’ schedules(at least majority of it). NEWSFLASH to the owner: the only people that are always available from 10 am to 230 pm every day are RETIREDPEOPLE. … oh I get it now! I guess they only want retired people as clients. And, their Sticky Toffee cake is soo good! But alas, the owner/baker does not take orders over the phone, and will only take orders if you SHOWUPINPERSON to their place and order days in advance. Seriously, you can’t even sit down for 5 minutes to take a phone order for your infamous cake? Your customers would have to waste gas to go to your place TWICE: once to order, and the second time to pick up??? But, knowing that they are not even considerate enough to go digital, I highly doubt they’d care enough to read this.

Met two of my BF’s here the other day. The Pro’s: Pot of tea for $ 2.50! Cute Assortment of teapots & tea cups for sale as well as other British goodies I have heard, but not experienced first hand that their«afternoon tea» is very generous with food. Con’s: This to me was glaring! I’m not really a «tea drinker» and when the waitress came to take our order I asked for a tea list. Unbelievably, they don’t have one! I really feel that is so odd! It made ordering tea very difficult. I basically just agreed to have what one of the other gals was having since I had no clue… The 3rd friend ordered«Earl Grey» not because it was her favorite, but again because she really didn’t know what to order. I had a raisin scone with clotted cream & jam. It was delicious & I could have eaten at least 2! I would come here again, but am hoping that they PLEASE please type up a «tea menu»!!

I have shopped here for yrs in both locations and love them. I am from England and husband is from Ireland so it’s a great fix for all things chocolate. I have taken my son for afternoon tea the last couple of weekend’ she is 4 and loves it. Plus they are now serving fish and chips on a Friday. If it would just rain I would feel at home

I finally made it in here after seeing their road side sign the past few weeks. I am by no means an expert on anything British, but I have to imagine this little gem is a godsend for anyone hailing from the great kingdom of Britania, or wishing they did. The location is almost hidden away in a business park, but is well worth the drive as there really inst another place like this anywhere in the county. Bit O Britain features both a café and an English grocery. Both give a great selection of down home items from the great isle. I stopped in for lunch with a coworker where we sampled the sausage rolls, scones, shepards pie and a sandwich. All were tasty and as I am told very English. The portions are not«Americanized» and huge. But just right for most people. They have a great selection of English grocery items, everything from candy bars, to baking needs to toiletry items is represented. They even have a small cooler section where you can get authentic bangers r pies ready to go into your«ice box» at home. Lastly the staff was very friendly and helpful. I could her the girl from the front counter answer several«poor American’s» questions about various items. The only thing a genuine yank such as myself would love to see in here is some Fish and Chips type options as that is one of the staples most Yanks think of when they think of Mother England… I believe. But from chatting with the staff, I think our hopes are not far from being fulfilled :)!

First let me give you some helpful info. If you are looking to find Bit O’ Britain its actually ways easier than it seems. If you are turning onto Poinsettia from Business Park you will see the Target shopping center. Turn into the next parking on the left after you pass Target. Ok, so now on to the good stuff. Irene, the owner is super nice and helpful. I made reservations for a large group and she was very accommodating. We came for afternoon tea and were not disappointed. You get unlimited hot and cold tea and tons of food. You get a yummy sausage roll, and a selection of finger sandwiches. You get scones with jam and all that as well. Now, this was good and all but my favorite things were the cakes and pastries. They give you a large variety of goodies but my absolute favorite was the lemon cake, it was light and moist and lemony and wonderful. The price for afternoon tea cannot be beat. In addition to this being a tea shop and restaurant it is also a store. You can buy all sorts of fun gifts and food items from the UK.

This is a nice escape, it’s a bit hidden in an industrial center, but the red phone booth is a dead give away. The tea is good, bangers and mash are on par but not the best

Fancy a spot of tea with the Queen??? LOL Well, that’s exactly what this place is about. Covered from wall to wall in fancy British memorabilia and awesome jams, cookies and candy, this place is wonderful. We stopped by for lunch and had yummy vegetable pies with salad. The ranch sauce was to die for. We also decided to have sticky toffee pudding served with clotted cream. Wow! Is all I can say. It was like a sugary buttery explosion in my mouth. Yummy. The service was so amazing. We felt looked after and they paid us so much attention. I kinda did feel like a queen :) Since I am South African, it was a special treat to find Mrs Balls chutney. I advise you all to go here for a taste of Britain and also a small sampling of South Africa. We’ve already decided we’re trying the afternoon tea this Sunday. See you there
