Recreation Ballpark is the home of the Visalia Rawhide, a single A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The stadium was built in 1946 and the Rawhide have a history of over 60 years in Visalia. This ballpark has seating for 1868 and with a capacity of 2468, the is the smallest professional ballpark in the US. It seems Visalia upgraded the facility in 2009 at a cost of 12−18M, depending on which numbers you believe. The ballpark is a great place to see a game. The seats are really low – (bring a glove or batting helmet). Unlike arger stadiums, you can literally«hear» everything going on in the game. The field is grass and the only downside of the ballpark is a horrible blinding sun in the third baseman’s eyes for the first 2 innings. I’m actually surprised, they don’t back up starting times to 7:45 as does Bakersfield to protect the players. The are nice amenities, a team store and hall of fame all worth seeing!
