I never been treated so poorly at a hospital in my life. I am a retired national horse trainerand roedo rider. Have had many incidents from falling of horses to boken ankels. Friday i got on a horse which i have rode before and she just started bucking. Not just your little buck but a roedo style romp. So to say i came off an landed on my left side back. After i gout my wind back i knew i have broken a rib or two. I got home too a shower and got some ice and sat down. The pain got worse breathing was shorter so i called 911. American ambulance got there quick and took good care of me all the way to the hospital. That is where thing went from good to very bad. At the hospital it took three tryes to put in an IV in me first right arm then right hand then finally left arm. The pain in my back and sides were getting worse. They sent in some young doctor in training and he said to me that I look fine and that i must be chasing drugs. I said what about exrays and with a snicker her sent in a portable machine. 3 hours later he says he thinks i had broken a rib. Still no pain meds other than her offered me advil. This reason is because i have had many back operations from riding and braken horses. I was taking some pain meds from my other doctor. I even brought my medication to the hospital with me so he can have a full history. Again hours pases pain got worse and back muscles started to go into spasms. Finally they decided to do cat scan to see what was going on. Of course they wanted to twist me around to get on the cat scam machine still with out pain meds. Again hours past then a senior doctor came in and apologized for the other doctors in experience. i was then told i did have two broken ribs. The guestion about pain meds came up again so i said lets call my doctor who gives me my other meds. She agreed so we called my doctor and he gave her permission to do what it takes to make me comfortable. So she finally started on helping me feel better. I even got ice to help slow some of the swelling. Now we are into the early morning hours. By 6 am the hospital was trying to kick me out even know i was still in pain and having spasms. My sister came and got me and i went home. One hour later i received a call from the hospital telling me i need to come right back in because I could have a punctured lung and they wanted to do more exrays. So another 3 or 4 hours went past till i got results. Again kept getting apologies from tthe doctor’s and staff about the way i was being treated. I don’t know what to say to all the people who live and pay taxes in Visalia but our hospital is not big enough for our town and does not have the proper staffing and support to treat the public right. Oh by the way i will state that i have two very good insurance companies for my health so it not like i don’t pay my bills. I believe that our hospital needs to be turned upside down and give the staff from management, doctors to the clean up crew some support and proper training and to treat the citizens of our area with respect and dignity we deserve. We are humans nout just numbers.
