Whalebone Surf Shop

I have been to the store to look at boards before and a few other times to pick up some surfing things for other people, but I have never really looked at the clothes. Well I should have.
I went in with a friend, both of us not being anywhere near teenage, and we both found things we really liked. I found a great blue pantsuit with spaghetti straps that I know I will wear a lot this summer and another cute date night outfit, both pieces were different than what I would find at other stores I normally shop at, but really good pieces. Huge surprise for me! My friend also found an outfit she liked.
The store also has bathing suits and bikinis that seem to made for 10-​year-​old girls. But when you dig a bit there are some for normal size people too. What makes it good though is that they are suits you won’t find anywhere else, which is a big plus for me.
Altogether this will not be my go-​to place, but when I need something that makes me feel like I am not a soccer-​mom old-​lady, I am totally going to Whalebone Surf. And the service was pretty great too.

On a Sunday we arrived at 4:50 and the doors were locked. We called them because the sign said they close at 6. Someone answered the phone and said they had closed up early… Thank you I won’t come back

didn’t buy anything from here… yet…but just wanted to review them because they sponsored my son’s sand soccer team, and provided shirts for the team.
we did look around the store and found many items that were fairly priced, if you’re lucky they have sales and you get better deals. they have cool whalebone logo items for purchase. my husband is determined to find one like my son’s shirt… an aqua blue glow in the dark shirt.
thanks whalebone for supporting local teams/​clubs. so people go in here and support your local (surf) shops!

I give Whalebone a 5 star rating because over the last year of experiences here. I use to think that they were overpriced and had a smaller selection of clothes, but was I wrong. Once you take a minute to look around, you’ll see that they have a ton of great stuff and some things that you can’t find at the «other» shops around VA Beach. I also am always surprised at the sales they have going on. I recently went in just to look around and ended up walking out with 4 pairs of jeans, a pair of shoes, a jacket, and 3 shirts because they had a «buy one-​get one half off» sale. Don’t be surprised if this happens to you too!!! I can’t get out of here without carrying a Whalebone bag home.
PS — The staff here have always been really helpful and accommodating. Store is always neat and welcoming! Check it out. you won’t be disappointed!!!
