The Melting Pot

The service was great. The food was really good and filling but a bit expensive. I liked trying something different. The best part was the dessert options. The dark chocolate with Oreo crumbs was amazing.

I have been coming here for as long as i can remember. Family dinners and most special occasions with the boyfriend and each time everything has been perfect. We came here last night for a lateish dinner, around 8 and we seated at a somewhat secluded table. perfect for the evening. Our waitress was awesome. very engaging and the small talk wasn’t forced. we both enjoyed her service.
We got the Fondue for Two: Cheese was the Bacon on Brie and oh my sweet baby jesus! i could eat that by itself and it was sooo tasty. I got the house salad and since my non salad eating boyfriend didn’t get one, our waitress gave me his to go. For the entrée cooking style we got was the Mojo and it was fresh of citrus juices. I love all the veggies they give you especially the mushrooms caps because i stuff them with the Green Goodness dipping spread. THAT STUFF IS AMAZING! Dessert we had the desaronio chocolate and toasted a marshmallow while it was on fire. Such great flavor. I was so full i almost couldn’t finish my wine for Irish Coffee we both got, that by the way came with rock candy!
We will always be coming back. Just a great place to spend a couple hours with my lover.

My wife and I tried to go for dinner and were told we couldn’t get in because we didn’t have a reservation they were booked. I went online and booked a reservation standing there. We did not eat there, seems like I was bothering them by walking in.

This is the second time that my fiancé and I spent Valentine’s Day here and each time has been amazing! The food is absolutely to die for and all of the ingredients are as fresh as you could ever get.
Only two things I will say about them…
One, the price is pretty steep. And if you go during a set menu time, like Valentine’s Day, you’ll end up paying far more for extras than the menu says. It’s food only too for the set prices, so expect drinks to be top dollar. So just be warned… you’ll probably pay more than you expect.
Two, it’s fondue. For whatever reason, people here in Virginia Beach (or most Americans for that matter) seem to expect large portions and fried stuff… or just crappy food. This is a fondue restaurant so you’re cooking your own food in a phenomenal fondue broth. The meats are super fresh and high quality, but you’ll be eating in small bites. So if you feel the need to stuff your face, there’s a McDonald’s down the road and a Pizza Hut around the corner. But if you can handle some pretty amazing food in smaller portions, you’ll love it here!
Overall, a little pricey… which is why we only do it once a year… but completely worth it for a fun evening with food that isn’t normally eaten around these parts. I highly recommend it for couples or small parties!

We come here at least twice A year for my daughter birthday. She loves to bring her friends for dinner. It is a nice atmosphere. Very good customer service. I love the cheese and dessert fondues the best. But we always get the meat ones also. Always receive fast and efficient service from staff. I do het reservations Due to a party of 5 or more. Always accommodating.

As soon as we walked in the door I felt I unwelcome. The hosts continued their conversation while we were standing there waiting. Then laughed out loud after I spelled out my last name for them. It made me feel stupid and I almost wanted to leave.
We finally got sat at our table and the waitress was friendly but didn’t give good service. The only reason I would come back is for the food.

This place is on point. My husband and I dined here for our wedding anniversary and it was very unforgettable. The waitress was super friendly and very knowledgeable. She answered every question we had seeing as it was only our first time visiting. The bathrooms were spotless and the dining area was spectacular. Great lighting and a very chill atmosphere. I would give them five stars but let’s be real, I haven’t tried every fondue restaurant out there.

Took a friend here for their birthday a few months back, made the reservations about 3 days in advance and also purchased the «birthday package» which came with a bottle of wine, a signature wine glass filled with candy and balloons also a photo they take of you and put it in a cute little signature frame, all for an additional $ 29.99
We arrived on time and were escorted to our booth which was already set up with the Birthday pkg items. The ambiance intimate, the lighting dim/​dark
We ordered shrimp and beef. (If you’ve never been here before i would highly recommend studying the menu before coming cause its very confusing) they brought out the raw meat and veggies and a lot of other stuff lol! Overall I didn’t like it much at all, the food was bland and unfulfilling. the fruit wasn’t as fresh as it could’ve been. just was not impressed at all given the price. I’d only come back if there’s a really good groupon deal.

I went to the melting pot for a big birthday of mine. It was nice that my husband was able to do a birthday wine & flowers on the table for when we got there. It was good food… but it’s so expensive we haven’t been back.

I really have no complaints about this place. We made reservations yesterday. This afternoon they called around 2pm to confirm
We were seated promptly and given menus and explained the specials. We ended up getting the fondue for 2 with a bottle of Pinot noir. They have a bacon & Baby brie cheese fondue that is to die for! The portions were big for the fondue for 2 we ended up taking some of the desert home.
Everything was so so so good. Our waiter was so friendly. Just an overall amazing experience. Thank you so much melting pot!

Usually, I am a big fan of the Melting Pot. I enjoy going for special occasions. In fact, this time we went for a birthday celebration.
I completely acknowledge our reservation was a later reservation for dinner. However, this is not an excuse for poor service. The waitress was inattentive to the point that water was never refilled and we had to remind the waitress to bring out the other drinks that were ordered. This has never been my experience. I’ve never had this level of inattentiveness at a restaurant especially not when it comes to ordering alcoholic beverages. We shouldn’t have to remind someone to bring something out. In addition, a couple of the drinks were really poorly made.
The second complaint was the «Celebration package.» The package was not requested but provided because it was a birthday. The package included two wine glasses with Lindt truffles and balloons, and they took a picture that they framed. At the end of the meal, they hit us with the «So who is paying the 37.90 for the balloons and pictures.»
The food was delicious as always, but the service at this location was definitely lacking. The party was also confused by the expense of the celebration package, which was already on the table when we arrived.

We came here for my birthday dinner. This is actually our obligatory celebration dinner spot every year. We chose the Quattro frommage cheese which was very tasty! I had the Melting Pot salad with Peppercorn ranch which was just what I needed! My entrée of choice was the Fondue Delight which consisted of a lobster tail, filet mignon, tiger shrimp, mushroom ravioli, & chicken breast. Amazing! And the chocolate of choice… The Flaming Turtle! Our server Ryan was the best! We will definitely be coming back like always!

Great service. Even better food! We really liked the atmosphere and the set up of the place. We got both meat and fish as our options and they were both very fresh and easy to cook in the broth they give you.
The chocolate fondue was my favorite part. They give you plenty of things to dip into it also. Will definitely go back on our next special occasion.

I’ve wanted to try the Melting Pot for years but always seem to forget about it when deciding on a restaurant. Any who. Finally had the chance to come for a birthday celebration for a friend. The ambiance is nice. I think it is a great restaurant choice for a date. We came on Halloween so the majority of the staff were dressed in consumes which was pretty cool. Our waiter was pretty cool and funny as well.
I went with the 4-​course Land and Sea option. We chose the Bacon & Brie and the Spinach Artichoke for our cheese fondues. They were both ok. Good but nothing special. I went with the Apple Bacon Spinach salad and it was really good. For our entrees we chose the Seasoned Court Bouillion (complimentary) and the Coq Au Vin. The chicken had the most flavor as it was already seasoned with a blend of herbs. Everything else was… meh. Not enough flavor for me personally. We didn’t have enough room for dessert so they gave us a coupon for a dessert fondue to use another day.
I will not be running back to the Melting Pot but I may give it another try one day. It was a cool experience but a lot of work. Lol.

When I arrived i was greeted professionally and with a smile. Ana was our hostess.
This was a fundraising event for my company and a special price. I was happy to try this place for the first time.
Aaron was our server and I had to seriously chase him down at least 3 times. We sat unattended when we first arrived for 20 mins. I went up to the front and had to ask Ana to explain how this process works. She did a fantastic job explaining how dinner was going to work. I still waited another 10 mins to receive 2 ice teas and 1 water.
I spent more time worrying about our poor service than enjoying the whole meal.
The food was good, Aaron came by one time during the cooking process and didn’t return again until I went up front AGAIN and had to ask the front staff to find my server so we could have more vegetables.
Honestly with my husband coming back from overseas, me working full time and our son in school we wanted to enjoy our meal but that was not the case. We sat under a light that kept going out and having to chase down our server it’s crazy that I still tipped my server 20%.
My first time here, I twiddled my thumbs, received an empty Checkbook and had to find my server again after at least 10 mins to let him know our check was not in the book.
I was tired from chasing people down and didn’t truly enjoy my meal that I spent ALOT OF MONEY ON.

We tried this VB location and it was SO much better than the Newport News one the last few years! Service was great (actually, our face server from NN transferred and we had her!), food was well prepped, and they actually had everything that was printed on the menu! This location is definitely up to normal MP standards.
This MP has an apple spinach salad on the menu that we hadn’t tried before. While not bad per se, we will be sticking to our fave house salad next time. We were expecting a warm bacon vinaigrette and it wasn’t; it was also a little cloying sweet.
The quattro formaggio cheese is fantastic. The roasted garlic in it is just awesome!
My new favorite cocktail is their white peach Cosmo. They willingly made it into a cocktail instead of a martini for me and I LOVED it. Do yourself a favor and try it!!!
The flaming Mexican chocolate rocks. A hint of spice gives you just enough to change it up from just chocolate. Yum!

This is nothing against MP… But why do people think k this is a good restaurant for babies??? There were two tables that night with high chairs. Seriously. I highly recommend not bringing children that you wouldn’t let cook for themselves at home. Not only is your night going to be miserable but you’ll annoy everyone else too with your loud, fussy children and their equally loud electronics you are attempting to entertain them with.

If you want a romantic evening with your significant other this is the place for you. I highly suggest the 4 course meal. 1^st course is a unique cheese fondue of your choice which comes with bread and veggies, 2^nd course is salad, 3^rd course are the meats/​seafood, cooked in the broth or oil of your choice and the best part is dessert! Choose your chocolate fondue and dip various sweet treats such as rice krispy treats, brownies, Oreo crusted marshmallows and many more. If you want to try something different and experience fondue. Come check out The Melting Pot, make sure to make a reservation.

Yes, this place is expensive. Yes, this place is a chain. Yes, this place is absolutely delicious. It is obviously not the type of place to go to regularly. Even my budget won’t allow that, but saving it for an extra special date night makes it worth it. Plan on spending about $ 70 (no drinks and the veggie platter), but we still had a 4 course meal, two drinks and a really fun 3 hour child free, relaxing meal for about $ 130. Yes, I said three hours. The atmosphere is good enough and engaging enough to stay that long and for any doubters out there because of the «expensive» aspect of it, just try it. While I do love the occasional Applebees or Olive Garden, you can definitely tell a difference when you spend a little more money.
And our server. Extremely helpful and patient as we had never been there. Can’t remember his name but he was from Romania and had a thick accent that added to it all.

Just Had fondue desserts with my cousins and we had a great time to create more memories. They have a sort of fondue selections and they come with small pound cake, marshmallows, brownies, and fruit to dip, these are all included in the desert package. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, which is very important. Overall great atmosphere!

I’m soooo super late in reviewing this restaurant, but I must tell you how awesome my experience was for my birthday… dined here May 16^th!
The location is sorta difficult to find, but once you do find it get ready for a great time!
The restaurant is centered in a well lit shopping area about 5 minutes from the oceanfront, great location!
I walked in and it was oso beautiful!!! I mean soon as you step foot into the restaurant the tone is set.
A hostess opened the door for us and greeted us with a beautiful smile and a cheerful good evening! I was already impressed. The hostess definitely sets the tone once you step foot into an establishment… IMO!
We had reservations but there was still a wait to be seated…*brow raised! Nevertheless, the hostess advised we could sit in the bar area until our table was ready.
The bar area… very nice! It’s just something about dim lit places… no matter the time of day I JUST LOVE THEM!!! IMO that speaks… serene! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… ok ok
Well I ordered the pineapple upside down martini… soooooooooooooooooooo good!!! I can’t recall the bartendars name, but he was oso friendly and displayed a very happy spirit!!! I was just all smiles the more!!! I wanted another drink, but I didn’t want to spoil dinner because I heard it’s a lot to try!!!
Finally we took our seat… tucked away in a corner booth… I LOVED IT!!! Once seated we waited an additional 10 minutes before our waiter greeted us. Normally this was definitely raise a red flag, but I was already on cloud 9 and my drink had me feeling right… so those 10 minutes… ah no biggie at all!
Our waiter was Roy!!! Roy!!! Roy!!! Roy!!! How awesome was he… super duper awesome!!! I tell ya I was already impressed from when I stepped foot into the establishment, but when Roy introduced himself, I just wanted to give him a hug!!! For one, he reminded me of a great friend I had been missing for some time and he just had a carefree, homeboy, I’m ya man type of spirit… very laid back, and I loved it!!!
Roy did not hesitate to answer any question I had and I had a lot… once he gave his presentation I was ready to order!!!
I chose the 4 course option: 1 Cheddar fondue, 2 Pear salad, 3 The Classic, 4 Flaming Turtle
I was pleased with all my choices!!!
With the cheese fondue, we had bread and fruit to dip. This was my first time dipping anything in cheese… I usually stick to sliced cheese. But it was my birthday… oh I loved it!!!
The salad, so good!!! Portioned just right. The dressing!
Now…when it came time to eat… Roy brought the food to the table uncooked!!! My reaction… WHAT!!!
I wait all this time to come here and have to cook my own food!!! Needless to say, I went from 100% pleased to 5% not so much!!!
With restaurants that have you cook your own food, I definitely frown upon them. I mean, I wouldve stayed home if I knew I had to cook my own food. BUT… Roy…remember I told you he was awesome right!!! He saw the disgusted look on my face and said «You want me to cook the food for you dont you» my reply…“yes Roy please” he replied «only because it’s your birthday I will»
Yeah!!! Three cheers for Roy!!!
He recognized my emotion and he aimed to pleased the consumer… me!!!
Roy cooked all of our food!!! You can cook the food separately, but surf and turf… I said throw it all in there!!! The meats all cooked together, then the veggies.
MMMMMM MMMMM good!!! The food the wine… on point!!! IMO filling to me. But my date was still hungry. He may not give them 5 stars based on fullfillment, but this is my review, and I was super good!
Roy chose our wine for us… a great tasting Moscato… cheaper than most too… Another gold star for Roy!!!
I was so full I didn’t have room for dessert so I took it with me.
Also when you sign up on their website and join the fondue club, they will email you a coupon for free chocolate covered strawberries… I claimed mine!!!
So I left with my chocolate fondue and covered strawberries.
Overall, this was a definitely a 5 star experience. And I think what made 5 was the impeccable service of the staff and most importantly the great customer service Roy displayed!!! Very down to Earth and willing to please the guest even if he did not want to he did not show anything but love and concern.
Definitely give this place a try, I can’t speak for any others but for this location and IMO experience. I can’t wait to go back and when I do I will definitely make sure it is a night Roy is working.
