Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill

I went here one late night called «hip hop» night & I was not impressed. First off I couldn’t find one thing I wanted to eat off the menu. I had coupons that they wouldn’t except for some odd reason I can’t remember. I had a hard time ordering a specialty drink because nothing sounded good and it sure wasn’t «hip hop» night. I sat in the bar area where the service was slow as hell. I couldn’t get any help or suggestion on what I might can order.

My boyfriend and I came here on Valentine’s Day and they were extremely packed. We were told that the wait was going to be about an hour and 15 minutes, but we only waited for about 15 – 20 minutes. Nikko is the best waiter in town! He constantly checked up on us and was very friendly. Their prices are unbeatable and the food was delicious. Highly recommend this place and Nikko!

Smokey bones has always been the go-​to spot to drink with my friends. They have cheap pitchers, drink specials, and late night eats as well. My experience with eating during prime time though, the service has been slow and pretty bad. Haven’t eaten enough at the VB location to judge how the food service is like. But I like that they are open late til 2am every night. The food there is also pretty good, you can also build your own burger. The crowd is pretty small during late nights, it’s a great place to just catch up and have some drinks.

I really enjoyed their BBQ chicken. It was tender, juicy and had great flavor. The service was a bit slow though. The sampler appetizer had really great options and came out fairly quick. The portion size for the fries was a bit small, but overall my group really enjoyed what they ordered. The popstar drink and honest mustard were the big hits.

Oh my the wings get it another star even though it was unbelievably loud snce there was a dj there.
We got the spicey garlic buffalo, mustard bbq, and the garlic parm. All flavors were excellent! The spicey one has amazing flavor but I could only eat a couple since it was so hot. I’m a whim I know. My 2^nd favorite was the mustard one and it was so yummy. I love how they give you a ginormous dipping sauce bowl, the whole wing fits in there! And then a paper bag to put the bones in. Great idea!

Great service and a very solid BBQ menu at this sports bar and grill near Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach. The Double Trouble combo featured a ¹⁄₃ rack each of smoked St. Louis style ribs with choice of spice rub and baby back ribs with optional brown sugar glaze and 2 sides. The Unilocal reviews seem to have been slanted unfairly against this joint, probably overloaded with fake lowball ratings by competitors. Recommended.

My recent visit here got off to a good start. We were told it was about a 25 minute wait, but they had a table for us in about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, things started going downhill from there.
Our waitress was pushy and awkward. She tried three different times to get us to order an appetizer. It took a really long time for us to get our food, and once we got it, I was shocked at how small the portions were. The layer pulled pork barely covered my buns and the french fries were sparse. I will say that the food was quite tasty, but I was hardly full when I was done.
After we ate, we sat and wait. And sat and waited some more. Finally our waitress returned and we ordered some dessert– chocolate cake. That took a realllly long time to come as well. But, just like dinner, it was delicious!
Our waitress returned quite some time later and made a rude comment about how shocked she was that we had eaten most of the cake.
It then took a long time to get the check and pay. I would say the two of us were at the table for two whole hours. Probably won’t be back.

Love the food and love the atmosphere… only problem I have is the fruit flys. 5 stars if they get them cleaned out.

First time here in yearssssssss. Upon entering hostess stand was a bit crowded with 2 hostesses, a customer on her phone, and another waiting for her to-​go order. Welcome «hello» from either hostess was lukewarm. Nothing to give you the warm & fuzzies. We waited about 5 minutes for a booth and was better greeted by our waitress, Kasey H. She was sweet, bubbly, and very helpful in giving us suggestions. Shortly after our drinks were delivered (Gotta try their Blushing Strawberry Sangria — it tastes like grape Kool-​Aid served in a miniature glass pitcher!) our food came and the only thing wrong was that my grilled chicken was missing off my Tomato Basil Cavatappi pasta, but they eventually gave it to me AND a free dessert on the house! (Thanks!!!) pasta was ok without the chicken but it tasted much better with! We opted for the Hot Bag o’ Donuts to-​go and we chose that instead of the mile high leaning tower of chocolate cake thingy (it was hard for me to pry my eyes away from the picture because I really wanted it but I also thought we might go somewhere else after dinner) because Kasey highly suggested it and said we’ll order it every time we come in there to eat! I have yet to try it and I think it’ll be my midnight snack tonight! I think I’ll give this place another go before adding another star. If I got that chicken I would’ve given it a 4 no problem!!!

My wife was quite disappointed with her drink and when ask if she could replace it she was told he wouldn’t be able to, because it was already rung up in the system, She enjoyed her salad even tho the steak wasn’t cooked to her liking. But we didn’t want to make a fuss. We’ve been here a few a times, and enjoyed ourselves but this last time was not to pleasant.

So we went pretty late about midnight. Happy that they stayed open till two. I ordered the wings and spinach salad. My fiancée had the chicken loaded nachos. I wasn’t pleased with my drink. I asked if the bartender could make a liquid marijuana (lol don’t judge me its a good drink). Instead of coming back and saying yes the bartender knows how to make it, the waiter just put the drink in. The drink tasted of absolutely no alcohol, and when I asked for another drink, the waiter said that he had already rung the drink in and he would have to talk to his manager. From there I wasn’t crazy about the service. On my salad i asked for the steak to be cook medium. A piece was medium but the rest was well done. My fiancé tried it and it was tender but still very much on the well side. We left on a okay note. I wish that instead of inconveniencing myself, that I actually got what I wanted. The wings were good, the salad was good other than the steak, and the drink tasted like watered down juice. The service was okay, but wish he was more on making the customer happy. We had going away party at Smokey Bones today. We brought 30 people and they provided us with one waitress for a thirty-​person table. To her credit she worked hard and was never seen standing around. She was always moving but one waitress was not enough. I had been there 45 minutes before my order was taken. We had a few people leave without eating because they needed to get back work.
The food was fine my smokehouse burger was medium to medium well vice the medium rare I had requested but still good. I was fortunate in that I was in a booth and was able to use their automated bill paying on the table. The rest took a while as the poor waitress was left handle about 20 bills on her own.
Recommendation to the management: next time some makes a reservation for 30 provide the poor waitress some help. At minimum we should have had two.

The food was good but I was bothered by the service.
I walked in to the bar and the crowd was sparse. Despite that, the hostess told us it would be a 5 – 10 minute wait. There were open tables around.
We ended up sitting at the bar instead of waiting and it took another 5 minutes for a bartender to even notice us. The bar was not crowded.
The food arrived at a decent time but our cups of water was never replenished despite being there for an hour.
Food was good and we were satisfied but they need to hire better staff.

This is our go-​to steak house. The steaks are bar-​none (better than Ruth’s Chris — no joke). The staff is always friendly and as quick as can be. The drinks and sides equally as good too. This is our closest location for Smokey Bones. They always leave us satisfied.

Great food, great service!
I rated this a ⁴⁄₅ because the service is great but it is a hit and miss. Some days you might get stuck with someone who doesn’t want to be there, but once you inform another waitress or the manager, your experience will turn around and it becomes an enjoyable dining experience.
The food tastes great, and the restrooms are clean! =] Always an A+ in my book!

Good food. Great place to catch a game if you can get a good table or seat at the bar. Always have specials. I like the smoked wings. Ribs are good too! I’ve even ordered online and picked up and that was a good experience as well!

I always enjoyed coming here and have the pleasure dining in. It’s been awhile and I am extremely excited to be here because I know that I am getting good and delicious food. Its busy tonight thankfully we were directly seated and served.
I’m also delighted to place a 5 star ratings with regards to this place. I believe Smokey Bones deserves to be rated high despite being categorized as a chain restaurant. I have never seen a place like this before that the standard and consistency of the food and hospitality is remarkable.
As for tonight visit, I ordered the create of your own combo; a meat platter consisting of pulled pork, spiced sausages and smoked chicken wings with a side of mashed potato with brown gravy, steamed brocolli and garlic bread. I thought the entire meal was perfectly well seasoned and tasted divine. The pulled pork was tender and juicy. The sausages and chicken wings was cooked to perfection. I truly enjoyed every bite of it. The portion is extremely generous and can be served for two people. Sad to say I can’t make it to the dessert round but I strongly suggest to try my ultimate favourite leaning chocolate tower. You won’t be disappointed.
One thing that I love about this branch is the terrific customer service. The staff is very attentive and polite. Its amazing how the always make happy and filled my heart desire.

I’m not a fan of chain restaurants but Smokey Bones hosts and feeds like its a local joint.
I’ve come in several times and never been disappointed. For those that read my reviews you know that I’m always looking for a great BBQ joint.
Tonight I had the Double Trouble platter which is two sections of ¹⁄₃ rack of ribs. I also had sides of fried apples and onion rings. It’s heavenly, BBQ and fries food!
The ribs were perfect. A nice crust of caramelized crust with a smoky ring. I also love the sauce options. My favor is the mustard BBQ sauce and a close second is the Carolina sauce. Both are tangy with vinegar and finish with a nice spice.
The service here is first rate. I always look forward to coming here and then thinking of coming back.

Came here on a Friday night around 10. Always passed by this place and finally gave in on trying Smokey Bone’s out. Music that plays on the inside plays on the outside too. When I got there it was techno house music, not really my cup of my tea but later on their played hip hop and r&b and everyone was getting their grove on.
It has a modern cabin feel. Dark lit, huge bar in the middle with flat screens all around. Three huge sections of seating all over. No problem for big groups. Our server Kortnee came right away, ordered a pitcher of Yeung Ling which was only $ 7 bucks SCORE. The pitcher fills up 4 glasses.
Cornbread: from the appetizer section comes in a round 5 inch deep dish pan with butter on the side. Big, cakey, and sweet made the way I like. I had take the rest togo.
Double Trouble Ribs: I got the half rack Baby Backs with brown sugar and St. Louis with original sauce. Both were tender and sweet. I liked the original sauce a little bit more. Comes with toast. And for the two sides I tried their mac and coleslaw.
Mac n Cheese: it was okay, it was dry and it lacked flavor, I wouldn’t get it next time.
Coleslaw: the sauce was light, airy, and creamy and the vegetables were cut consistently small almost string like, easier to down.
I also dipped the ribs in the sauces they already had on the table. My favorite was the chipotle BBQ and Carolina sauce.
Overall, I had a nice relaxing time, enjoying the vibes from everyone around. Service was on the slow side, other than that I would come back for the beer and ribs. Music was a plus for me. I came at good time.
