Awesome Experience! Tandoori Chicken and Chicken tikka masala was good. Staff was nice and courteous. Would recommend this place 100%.

My wife and I have been here 3 times in the past year. The service is ok but the food is pretty good. It’s been ages since I’ve eatin at a different Indian place so it’s kinda hard for me to compare it to other Indian places but it’s good enough for my wife and I to return. Our last visit was this past Sunday around 6:30pm. The gentleman that greeted us was not very friendly… no smile or anything. I think he was our waiter as well(Jay, according to our receipt). He was ok… he seemed a lot more friendlier to regular customers that came in after us. His assistant, an older gentlemen, was a lot more friendlier and always had a smile at the table. We started out with the garlic naan which was really good. We ordered the fish tikka and butter chicken as our meals. Both dishes were delicious. The chicken, however, came out a little too spicy even though I asked them to make it medium. It’s ok though, I still enjoyed it. I look forward to returning soon and trying out new dishes!

Had the lamb with cilantro curry. Excellent service and great atmosphere. Made date night just that much better. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in Town Center and want lunch or dinner.

The reason for my rating is based of of two visits. Honestly my first visit here was great. The service was great. The food was good. No complaints there. However my second visit recently was for dinner. We had ordered the Mussel Appetizer, which is honestly the best thing on the menu. It has a creamy coconut sauce with a little kick of curry spices. For my main entrees we got the Butter Chicken and the Beef Tikka Masala. I had emphasized twice that we wanted mild for both dishes, because we cannot eat spicy. However, both dishes came out extremely spicy. We tried the Masala first and realized it was burning our mouths. And when we tried the Butter Chicken we couldn’t even feel or taste anything. So we had told them we wanted mild and couldn’t eat spicy and wanted to return the Masala, not knowing that the Butter Chicken was also spicy(only because we’ve lost all feeling). They laughed at us and said«we don’t use chili powder… only some curry spices», this made us feel rather… offended. I don’t care what you use or don’t use, I specified I don’t want my mouth burning. They gave us a new one and we ended up having everything packed up to take home because we were not able to eat anything. The next day I decided to bring the left overs to work. That’s when I discovered the Butter Chicken was also spicy. Imagine how frustrating it can be when you are hungry and can’t eat because your mouth is on fire. TWICE. I will never come back. Such a waste of money.

I frequent this restaurant since they are on the bottom of my apartments. The food is never disappointing. I do wish they would offer delivery to the Cosmo since its right net door and sometimes you just don’t want to go out. From the lunch buffet to dinner at night this place is always on point. My one issue is that they like to charge for additional rice. It’s rice yall. for $ 3 i can buy a whole bag come on, lets be a little more realistic.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant many times with my family and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, I ordered a couple vegetarian dishes to be delivered as dinner for my family and the dishes that are usually mild were so spicy no one could eat it. To make matters worse when I called to discuss this issue with the on staff manager they would not take responsibility and asked me to contact the delivery service I ordered it through(I ordered it through the service on the Unilocal app). The delivery service surely did not add spice? A waste of my $ 50. I will not be returning out of principal. How incredibly rude.

Please, if you are in or near Town Center of Virginia Beach and this place pops up, please find another Indian Restaurant to go to. I’ve heard good things about their location in Norfolk and I may visit that location, but it will take some courage. They have a $ 10 Lunch buffet(dine in only) that I heard about. After waiting 10 minutes to get seated behind another couple, and walking in to see waiters standing around leaning on tables, I wondered why there as such a long wait. Once seated, I overheard a couple speaking to a manager about the lack of customer service and the poor quality of the food. I would have to agree. I am a fan of Indian food, but upon getting a plate and going over to the buffet, I lost my appetite. The wonderful smell that permeates into the parking garage above is nothing like what is inside the restaurant. The food looked terrible, very runny(almost watery) consistency with very small chunks of meat. I was hoping that the lunch buffet would entice me to eat dinner here, but definitely no. I walked out(which I never do) and none of the waiters even bothered to ask why, no problem for me though. There are so many indian food options around the area, try another.

Decided to hit up the town center Saffron(vs. the Norfolk one) for lunch today with a contractor who was in from out of town. What I like about Saffron is they offer a great selection of Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian offerings for their buffet. Topped over with a delicious tamarind and mint chuntey’s, I’m always a fan. Our Naan was served right to the table, and there was plenty of it for 3 of us. They take a small hit for not keeping my drink filled(I think this is common at a lot of buffets). From a «I wish they had» category, I would love to see a mango chutney added to the mix like some of the other local Indian eateries. Also, their spoons have a tendency to fall in their dishes! This is partially because some of their clientele are idiots, but there’s got to be a better solution to keep this from happening. Ultimately, the food is great, and it’s what you’ve come to know and love at a buffet.

We got coupons in the mail for BOGO on the lunch buffet and visited here for the first and probably last time. First, I expected this Town Center restaurant to look a lot nicer inside. We saw a seat in one booth that had a big fat tear in it! Second, the«buffet» was 2 whole carts with about 8 selections each… One cart just had salad and pudding and the other had a few meat and sauce dishes with rice. I had two plates of the same 3 items(which were lukewarm BTW). And, I could barely make out the writing on the labels of each food. Lastly, the service was marginal at best… We asked for water, we got 2 glasses of water, no ice, not even straws. At buffets, the staff usually collects empty empty plates from your table during the course of your visit. They came by several times to refill our water and such but let our plates just sit there until it was time for the check. That was kinda gross… Well, at least I finally say I went there.

With mixed reviews, I gave this place a chance. Tried the lunch buffet. Choices were atypical for an Indian buffet, which was actually refreshing(no butter chicken) and that allowed for sampling of dishes I may not have thought to try otherwise. Still, flavors were all around bland anyway.

My rating is for two visits here. I hit the lunch buffet, for a work function, and was quite pleased with the quality of food offered. Wait staff brings naan bread to your table and it’s an all-you-can-eat happy time. My second visit bring the rating down. I arrived here just shy of 10pm, with friends. We were seated and served quickly. Despite not enjoying all the food(appetizers), our entrees were quite good. My poorer rating comes from deterioration of service at the latter half of our dinner. They close at 11pm, and were out the door before then, but we were the last people there. I know workers want to go home. But turning the music off and the lights off and on is childish.

I can’t be more excited to try this place. I must say, the long wait and anticipation was absolutely worth it. Over the years of living in Hampton Roads, I consider this place as the best indian restaurant I’ve ever been in. Its also the most authentic Indian food so far that I’ve found in the area. I’m not sure if this is a chain, however I truly believe this place has it all. The entire restaurant looks incredibly amazing. I love the romantic and cozy ambience. The interior is very sophisticated, thought the setting is creatively well done. Everything is cohesive from the table set up to wall ornaments to chandelier. This place is quite fancy and upscale. I am a huge fan of Indian food especially the mouth-burning spices and complex flavor pairings. With its use of cardamom, cayenne, tamarind and other pungent ingredients resulting a well balanced taste. Today I came with a friend someone I’ve known quite a long time and we share the same passion. We directly get the main course and decided to share anything we ordered. So, we both agreed to have a lamb vindaloo curry, Tandoori mix grill, butter naan and basmati rice. Thought the entire dish was extraordinary, the flavor was well balanced and the meat was cooked to perfection. The sauce taste extremely divine. The ingredients and every components of the dish was freshly prepared and delicately well done. Most of all the flavor profile was very consistent, the entricate usage of spices took me India. I’m amazed the level of hot spicy they could offer to their guest. If you’re into extreme spicy this place will heat up your appetite to the extent of your desire. It was truly a wonderful visit. As a matter of fact I enjoyed it most especially the food. Although, to me the pricepoint is a bit costly nevertheless it was worth it because the quality of the food was sensational and the portion was right the value of what your paying for. My only criticism was the hospitality service was poor. It was forgettable and not worth a dime of tip. No matter how good this place is people will never ever go back to dine in. The staff was grumpy and unhappy. The only staff who was enthusiastic in that place was the lady who served and fill water and the rest was just miserable. This review is for food service only.

The food here is very good. Saffron has a good variety of dishes, all of which are delicious. You should know that if you order curry, it will come with rice, so dont feel the need to order naan with everything. The restaurant is upscale and professional. Would I recommend this? If you like Indian food, definitely

Im not impressed. We had the Chicken curry and the tandoori wings. The food was ok. The wings are comparable to the wings at 7 – 11 with a little chard edges. Servers were very kind but the service was not very good. We waited a long time for our order. Other customers arrived and got their sizzling food right away. The drinking glass is set up upside down on the table when you arrive. I find that to be very unsanitary, being that they are directly on the table and people drink from the rim. Might be different if they were on a napkin. I doubt I will be dining here again. But I’m thankful for the experience.

I went here for lunch one Saturday with my husband. We both ate the lunch buffet rather than ordering off of the menu. It was decently priced for a buffet and there were a lot of different choices to accommodate everyone’s tastes. The food was good but not great which is usually what I expect from a buffet. I do wish we would have ordered off of the menu though because the tables around us that did that looked like their food was amazing. I would definitely go back to see if ordering from the menu is as delicious as it looked! The staff was definitely friendly and attentive during our visit. The only odd thing was there was no music or any background noise in the restaurant which kind of made me feel really awkward because everyone could hear everything everyone else was saying. All in all it was a pleasant lunch experience for us

I’d heard mixed reviews about this place, but I’ve heard generally good things about the food, so I wanted to try for myself. I actually really enjoyed my meal. I’m not generally a big fan of spicy food, but I did like my food. It was definitely spicy but not so much that I couldn’t handle it. I don’t think it was super memorable but it for sure was good. The service was ok. They didn’t seem all that friendly to us, but they weren’t rude or anything. I didn’t feel like they like us very much, though. So I’m pretty lukewarm about it. It wasn’t bad service but not really all that great either. I would definitely give this place another try given the opportunity.

Got me sweatin’ boy! Saffron dishes out great tasting meals with portions the whole table can share. You’ll walk away from this place feeling truly fed! A buddy and I had an early dinner here and we couldn’t stop talking about it afterwards. The meal opened up with a spicy green dipping sauce(Garlic, Lime, Cilantro, etc) which was very tasty. Later the waiter dropped off the sizzling Chicken Tikka & Beef Palak accompanied by a huge bowl of rice that we both shared. Great place to stop in while at Towncenter. Saffron also offers buffet specials so look out for that!

Well it was my very first time and I just got off work and my boyfriend decided to surprise me and take me to dinner. So this place is only around the corner it was very convenient, bc we walked. My very first impression of this place was fancy and friendly. I’m not sure if it’s a family owned business, and they were all nice. Thumbs up! I tried there coconut curry with chicken and my boyfriend tried the lamb. They have 5 levels of Spicy: 1)mild 2) medium 3) medium hot 4) hot 5) Indian hot. I can eat spicy stuff on a basis so I chose medium hot, which was good amount heat for my mouth. I could only imagine what Indian got is. Had great customer service, very attentive, and refilled your drinks bc they know how spicy food gets. Another thumbs up, from someone who used to work in hospitality.

I was recommended by a friend to try this place, and right from the sign outside to the beautiful interior I was amazed at how well and organized the restaurant was. From the great chicken tikka masala with mint cocconut chutneys to the gobbi manchurian, theres really nothing wrong about this place. A must try when in virginia. –bob patel nj

Good curry in a fancy establishment with linen tablecloths and comfortable seating. They have quite a bit of upscale competition in this neighborhood. A variety of curries with spice levels that range from cool through medium to hot. I’ve never heard of a vindaloo being medium, but the guy at the table next to me ordered it that way. Chili garlic naan for the win. Sure, there’s naan. And then there’s garlic naan. But have you ever had a naan with garlic and cilantro and green chilies? Try it, you’ll love it. I had a simple chicken korma in a medium spice and it was tasty with plenty of flavor and lots of chicken. Scooped onto the rice, it was an excellent and quite filling meal. Not quite enough to share between two but enough to take home for lunch.
