I’ve been terrified of getting a Brazilian wax ever since I went with my best friend for moral support 2 years ago. The process seemed painful and left my friend sore and really red. I finally decided to take the leap and visited JoAnne this week and boy do I wish I went sooner! JoAnne made me feel extremely comfortable and I don’t know how she does it but during the process I barely flinched and the waxing didn’t hurt anything like I had witnessed. She uses a really great wax that only sticks to the hair and takes pride in providing a great service. She does this while entertaining/​distracting and providing helpful information on your Brazilian care etc. I will definitely be back. Thanks JoAnne!

I ADORE this salon! I come her for waxing and Joanne is the best! This isn’t her first rodeo and you can tell she’s got a passion for what she does. She coached me through my first few waxings and now I walk in like its nothing. (Okay, total lie because it hurts-​but I know what it expect with her). She has the best wax, always fresh and it actually sticks to the hair not NOT the skin! This is her only shop, her pride and joy, and she’s a local! So why WOULDN’T you go in for a great wax and support your local VBer? Every person I’ve recommended to go here says they love her! I promise you won’t have a bad experience!

I’ve been looking around the Virginia Beach area for a good hair stylist for over a year now and have visited several local salons and although they were good, it wasn’t really what I was looking for. I’ve finally found a place and stylist that I LOVE! Raquel is awesome and really understands cut and color. Since I’ve been going to her I’ve actually had people commenting on my hair. I mean, even when its air drying and not styled I’ve had friends tell me they love my cut. She’s also great with color, whether is a glaze or ombré, bright or subtle, she knows what shes doing. The salon is nice, clean, and everyone is very friendly. They are always pretty busy with a great deal of long time loyal customers.

I found Mary Ellen on Groupon (wash/​deep conditioner, cut, and blowout for $ 35). She gives a great head massage when she shampoos! She was very friendly and listened to what I wanted. She did take a little too much off the length, and I don’t think she was really familiar with my hair texture (thick and curly). I will say that she tried her best and that’s what counts! I still gave her a generous tip (for the head massage, friendliness, and effort). Here’s her website:

Joanne is the waxing specialist, she is great! She also uses a special type of wax that rips out only hair follicles and doesn’t pull the skin. Overall great experience, I highly recommend going to her!
