I used to come her when Jaclyn worked here. When she moved to her own place I followed her there. She is now on maternity leave but I’ve been dying to make my hair blonde. My parents gave me $ 100 for my birthday to use towards getting my hair done. I went in a week before my appointment to get quoted for how much it would cost and was told $ 150. Awesome! I only have to pay $ 50 plus tip out of my own pocket. I just showed up for my appointment. And now I’m being told that it’s going to cost me $ 305?! that’s more than double what I was quoted. I find that extremely unprofessional and disappointing. I went ahead with it because I was really looking forward to having my hair done before I go out of town for my birthday. Here I am in the middle of my hair service wondering why I’m paying double than what I expected… I should’ve left when she told me my new quote…

I felt very taken advantage of at this place. I called to inquire about the price of a blowout and was told $ 20. I went in, and Dawn did my hair. She did a fine job — it’s a blow out. Not rocket science. She asked if I wanted her to flat iron and I said sure. When I checked out, they charged me $ 40, an additional $ 20 for the flat ironing! No one told me there would be an extra charge for that or I would have declined! And to charge twice the price of a blowout is absurd! The woman at the front said she would give me back $ 5 and that’s «all she had the power to do.» I will never return. Do yourself a favor and go to Blowout Salon.

Very good salon for color and cut. I’ve been coloring my hair for years a copper red. Since it has gotten longer I now get it professionally colored. The past 3yrs I’ve been going to two places but they never seemed to be able to get that bright copper I look for and have made slight mistakes with the cut which made my hair look awkward. After reading the reviews for this place I decided to check it out. I had Adriana(or something like that) who has been doing hair for close to 40yrs. I was a little put off at first because she was saying she couldn’t do the light copper I wanted without removing the old color(I’ve never had issues going lighter with my midtone hair before) so I went with a golden copper. She put the color in and told me it’d sit for around 30mins. I was a bit disappointed that my stylist disappeared for over 40mins, not checking on me once, and I started getting a little concerned. She finally came out and it was ready to wash out. In middle of shampooing she had to excuse herself to help another stylist mix color. So I was left sitting with my head in the sink for 5mins or so. After washing out the color finally though I was pretty impressed, it was exactly the color I wanted! I haven’t been able to find a decently priced salon that could get the bright copper I wanted. My stylist also listened to exactly what I wanted. She understood I wanted to keep my length but also wanted the awkward pieces corrected. She did a fantastic job cutting my hair, fully listening to what I wanted! I was a little disappointed because instead of the all over copper I wanted she did the roots and mixed in the copper with my old color. Although she did a fabulous job mixing in the color so it looks natural I do wish it was full all over. She said she wasn’t sure how my hair would take the color, that’s why she blended it. I completely understand and appreciate that, since she has never done my hair before, she took caution to make sure it didn’t turn out poorly. The next time I go back she said she will do an all over everything the same color so I’m definitely pleased. The price seemed consistent with good salons in the area. The original cost was $ 90 something(w/o tip) but they took $ 10 off since it was my first time going there(I guess they give this offer to anyone who goes their first time). They also gave me a little care package that included a sample of color deep conditioner and a $ 5 off my next visit. I’ll definitely be back. They have a $ 45 express color that I’ll take advantage of in about 2 months. The few disappointments was that my stylist would disappear on me and I didn’t get the all over color BUT I got the color I wanted which is hard to find AND she listened to exactly what I wanted. I believe this place definitely offers standard colors/cuts but they are definitely a place to visit if you’re looking for bright, unique, or specialty color/treatment, or cuts.

I have been with no Rootz for approximately 4 years now. Each stylist I’ve used — Colleen, Shannon, Marie or Brad has done an exceptional job. My two teenage daughters love Shannon and Marie and my teenage son, who just went to Ring Dance, looked great with a fresh cut by Brad! The vibe there is fun but the stylists know their craft! Sit back and enjoy, you’ll love the results!

I was home for the holidays and long story short, work a job that makes it very difficult to go to a hair salon for more than 6 months on end. My entire family goes to this salon(specifically Brad) and they squeezed me in on Christmas Eve for hghlights/cut. Brad was amazing and did such a great job with my highlights/low-lights; I have gotten non-stop compliments since then. He is to date the only colorist I’ve had who gave me the highlights I wanted. Even though they were incredibly busy at the salon they all did a great job and were very attentive. My sister, mother and brother all go to Brad and he has done amazing things for everyone! I am definitely not easily impressed but was very pleased with the experience. Will definitely be back next time I am home!

There is a reason it is voted best of Hampton Roads. This salon has great talent. I moved here about a year ago and finding a new stylist is always scary and can be difficult. I usually have to try out 4 or 5 before I find one who is worthwhile. I drove by No Rootz and decided to give it a try. Shannon did a wonderful job with highlights. She is an artist as she knew what shade would be best with my complexion. She is pretty fast at what she does and the end product I was very happy with. The cut was great too. I won’t be going anywhere else for a while!

Need a new do? Color a little faded? Need a cut? No Rootz has been successfully taking care of my look for over a year! Customer service is outstanding, the atmosphere is refreshing and my colorists is AMAZING! This is the ONLY place I can visit, shut my eyes and awake to a perfect color, cut and style! The owner, Marie, who is a magician, successfully, every time completes her work with the dedication and craft as a surgeon woring in an operating arena, She misses absolutely nothing and settles for only perfection! I gave up my sizzors(I am a licensed hair sytlists(not currently one) after meeting Marie and refuse to ever touch a hair on my head! This is the first time in over 62 years that I have found someone who really«get» me and does the magic I have been seeking! BRAVO to No Rootz! May you long live and promote more beauty at the Beach!
