I haven’t done old timey pictures since high school. All of the employees are dressed in costumes. They were nice. There were tons of books with pictures of way too many choices. It was a challenge to decide what to wear. You could be a bimbo with a gun, a gansta, a drunk, a classy dame or a beach bunny. There were even costumes small enough that you could give birth right before entering the store and have something that would fit your newborn. Hubby and I were in a shooting mood so we both had guns. The person who took our pictures did a nice job of telling us what to do and how to pose. It was fun. I would suggest bringing a plastic envelope from the container store or your own frame with you and not paying more than you need for a frame. The hotel/boardwalk coupon books have $ 3 off coupons for additional prints.

I am currently leaving a review for Old Time photos on 17th at. For the past three years I have made it a family tradition to visit Old Time Photos. Usually I visit the location at 2018 Atlantic Avenue located between 20th and 21st street. Unfortunately, this evening we went to an unfamiliar location on 17th St. Upon arrival there was a young lady who greeted us. I began explaining exactly what style photos I would like, and asked her if she would show me a few photos from their portfolio, so I could assure that I found exactly what we were looking for! She was extremely rushed and was very hesitant about the style photos. I wanted to take some time to look through the photos. She then basically told me she knew what I was looking for. She took my daughter and myself to the fitting area and quickly pulled out a few outfits she thought I might like, after telling my daughter that she didn’t have much available to fit her. 16 year old) That was the beginning of my frustration. She was very rushed and showed little enthusiasm. I told her my stockings were ripped and she said take them off and just flip them around. At my normal location on 2018, they have always been patient, and made it such a fun experience. NOTHERE!!! At checkout, the girl with a nose piercing(best way to describe her) was pretty condescending. Once she told me the cost of our photos I was a bit surprised. I understand that«over the years the prices haven’t changed» however, she called over the manager to speak to me. I explained what I paid last summer so that I had a better understanding of what the fees were. I told her I would go back to my normal location, and her response was“you still need to pay the sitting fee in once again, a smart ass, condescending demeanor. She then called the«manager» over. His exact words to me were” either you are lying, or our other location did something they shouldn’t have in regards to the rates”. I was irate. I have never in my life been called a liar, especially by a manager. After the manger walked away briefly, I asked the lady with the nose piercing and blonde hair for a pen, so that I may circle their location on their flyer. Best believe, this pen was not handed to me, but basically tossed across the counter, which by the way, did not work. Took my photos and my young children, and left this nasty place. I decided to walk down to my normal Old Time location and spoke with Anthony Pullen who treated me very respectfully and explained the procedure as a professional individual should. I will NEVER visit this location again. A customer service class needs to be held at this location. This man has no business being a manager as well as a few unprofessional women who work at this place. Extremely disappointed. My visit does not deserve 1 star. I also made it very clear that I didn’t want my baby wearing a hat as well, and that was totally disregarded. Hey, at least you got my 80.00

Old Time Photos is one of Virginia Beach’s few cultural treasures and is a must-visit location for anyone passing through. While the photos themselves are somewhat expensive, the end product is consistently excellent and the actual experience of dressing up for the photos is unforgettable. Unfortunately, some small problems with their service mar what would otherwise be a perfect kitschy experience. I recently took a trip down Memory Lane with a group of 5. We wanted to do a sort of «action scene», which we eventually did, but not after having to convince the«photographers» that this was a good idea. This wasn’t too shocking, but what was surprising was the horrible attitude of our«assistant photographer», who was frankly quite obnoxious and just shy of directly insulting. She was physically pushy(she managed to actually hurt one of us) and was constantly making adjustments to the scene without consulting with the actual photographer. In fact, while she was dressing one of the ladies, she actually called the main photographer, Liz, «a bitch». This is a shame, too, because Liz was a sweetheart who handled herself fantastically. We would have tipped her handsomely but we were concerned that some of that tip might go to her horrible assistant. Another minor complaint: considering the prices they charge here, they might consider using better cameras. The images DO look good, but they would probably look better with better cameras. One last thing: we would have loved an option to buy the actual files from them. This would at least save us the time spent scanning the images. Aside from our rough experience with an employee who’se probably been fired by now, we did have a great time at Memory Lane and I would strongly recommend anyone who reads this review to give it a shot.

Not everyone loves to be photographed, but I don’t know many people who don’t love dressing up in a funny costume and taking some pictures. Old Time Photos is just such an opportunity to make believe you are a gangster, saloon girl or whatever old fashioned hooligan you can dream up. The most fun part of the Old Time Photo experience is picking your outfit. Dresses with corsets, hats from the 1920s and of course a Tommy Gun accessory to really set it off right. My family and I took our Old Time Photo when we first arrived in Virginia Beach in 1987. We still have that picture and giggle every time we look at it. Whether it’s for your family, a group of friends or even coworkers, I definitely recommend you make some memories with an Old Time Photo of your own.
