Crab masala– 5 excellent! Chili mili shrimp-5 to die for! Cauliflower appetizer-4.5 reallly gooood Assorted naan — 4.0 perfect to balance out all the strong flavors. The appetizers are small plates except for the assorted naan. It’s probably good for 3 – 4 people. The main courses were generous portions too(crab masala and paneer mahkni). With all the appetizer we had we couldn’t finish the main dishes so we ended up boxing 2⁄3 of what arrived. Crabmasala was creamy and rich in flavor. A very savory dish.

I wish I could tell you everything we ate. I went with a few Indian co-workers and let them order everything. I know there was masala chicken and paneer, cury lamb, a cauliflower app, and chaat app. Everything was outstanding. Service was also impeccable. We also had sweets at the end; an ice cream thing along with a sweet dough ball in simple syrup that I’m just going to call Honey Balls. OMG… so GOOD!

Wish I could give a 0 star! So rude of service. When customers a group of 9 to be exact walk in at 9PM you don’t refuse to seat them bc you can’t accommodate when there were open tables. Kitchen closes at 10:30 and a good business move would be to seat the guest. Half our party was visiting from 3 hours away very disappointed, won’t be coming back. Spoke to manager to see if he could do anything but looks like they had made up their minds. #fail

I just finished demolishing my chicken makhni and I would have leftovers but I couldn’t help myself. We got the chicken tikka, the chicken makhni, and two orders of naan for takeout. It was more than enough food, but I’m not complaining. The sauces are delicious, the chicken was perfectly cooked, and the naan was excellent to dip in the sauces. It’s nice to know that this place exists and I see why they won best Indian in Virginia beach. I’ll be back and I’ll be trying some of the many other things on the menu because they sound incredible.

Stopped by this little gem on a Monday evening. The atmosphere and ambiance are lovely as was the wait staff. Chose the chaat of the day which was chickpeas with lots of different flavors, pineapple and something crunchy. The chicken Korma was delightful along with garlic Naan and mango lassi. There was plenty to take home as well. It even tasted great the next morning. Very authentic Indian food.

We stopped by this place on a Sunday afternoon on our way out of Virginia Beach. Ambiance is great. Food is Excellent. If you ask for spicy and if you can handle it, you’ll truly enjoy it. Ordered Chicken and Lamb Biriyani, Garlic Naan and butter chicken ! All extremely well cooked and tasty. I highly recommend this place.

Good for lunch because they have a $ 10 two course. Otherwise it would be way to expensive. But the food here is constantly delicious

Absolutely LOVE Masala Bites ~ wow! I mean, just ~ wow! The curried lamb is my utmost favorite and the spices are unbelievable. I had something similar when I was stationed in Southwest Asia and when I discovered this restaurant and had their dish ~ I could not believe that it was the very same dish with authentic spices as I had overseas many years ago. What a surprise! I love this restaurant!!!

The food is delicious great service and staff are attentive and friendly! Malabari goat curry is the best, a must try! They will give you a simple spice scale(1 – 5 being the hottest) for those of US who can’t handle spicy foods. They have great wine and beer selection too. The entire experience was very polished: the ambiance, the drinks, the service and of course the food. I highly recommend this place

Great little restaurant with awesome food! Definitely the best chicken Tikka masala I’ve had in the Hampton Roads area. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a slightly upscale place to eat. They have a good wine lost and our waitress seemed to be knowledgeable about the wines. We also. got the chaat of the day and my husband thought it was incredible !! Definitely a MUSTTRY place.

Great restaurant! Awesome food and the service is equally good. Pricey as far as the food goes depending on what you buy but I’m used to buying Indian food in Jackson Heights in NY. They give better portions than Nawab! Overall very satisfied with this place.

Been here 2x now. Everything was great. We have twin toddlers, and was still a family friendly spot, but also very good for a romantic dinner based on the setting and biance. Service is great too.

5⁄5 for food. 5⁄5 for service. You’ll get an all-around good experience here every time. The meats are tender and juicy. The sauces are perfectly flavored. Appetizers are wonderful. The breads are perfect. Many places provide a good meal one time and then the next time you visit, things taste different. That doesn’t happen here. They have winning recipes and stick to them flawlessly. A+

I have a crazy love for indian food! Exploring all the exotic spices of this cuisine is new & exciting and always puts me in a happy place. Masala Bites is very stylish and gorgeous inside! No buffet up in here :), but they have a good lunch deal during the weekdays!

Oh my goodness. where do I start… so I walk in for a lunch date with my girls and someone greeted me immediately. .the place was very well decorated. and I couldn’t help it my booty has a mind of its own. i kept catching myself accidentally dancing to the awesome Indian music in the backround. They were lighting speed with refills, which for me is a great big glob of happiness. one of the girls didn’t even set her cup down yet and *boom refill. The garlic Naan was so freaking amazing. however the portion was rediculously small. The samosas. .oh gosh, let me tell u about the samosas. I’d never had them before so my friend gave me some and I felt like the heavens opened up and the angels were singing as I was tasting this delicious fried concoction. never before have I tried Indian food, never will I go this long without it again. Our waiter came around and he was soo very cool. he is from India and he was sharing cool stories with us about his mama making Indian food, I’d like to meet his mama and her cookin from the stories! I gave him kind of an idea of what I wanted and he recommended something that was far beyond the expectations of my taste buds. Lamb Chakriphool Dhaniwaal, oh.my.dear lord baby Jesus this was just too good. I don’t know how I had leftovers I think the desperate want to have this for lunch the next day was the only thing keeping me from gobbling this up and licking the bowl haha. As for the spiciness of the dishes they ask u on a scale of 1 to 5 how spicy you like it. I didn’t know how spicy a 1 was so I said I like it spicy but not so bad I can’t taste my food. he suggested a 2. it wasn’t spicy at all so I asked for a little hot sauce and boy is their hot sauce ever hot! I added like a drop lol. however my friend asked for a mix between 2 and 3 and hers was pretty frikkin spicy so idk. I ordered 2 things of garlic naan. because it didn’t come with much and it was just way too good. Then they brought my dish out to me and I was just so gone into it, the lamb was just so incredibly tender and the sauce was drinkable! I just can’t say enough about it. they gave us all some rice to share and they even gave us some rice in our to go boxes. oh how I love these ppl and their amazing service! The only complaints I have would be the location is way out and the prices were stupid high, I spent like with tip 35 bucks for just me and I drank water. the meal was 18 and the naan was 4 bucks a piece for a very small portion of it. I was told by my friend who is a frequent Indian food restaurant goer that she’d never been served such a small portion of naan. but I’d definitely come back for a special occasion. I’m going to try a buffet a friend told me about though next cuz I’d like to try more than just one dish and explore the many tastes of india!

I think it’s time to update my review of Masala Bites. I live in the Red Mill area now and we have eaten here probably 20 times. Sometimes we go in and sometimes we do take-out and pick it up. Either way — it’s always yummy. But I’ve tried MANY things off the menu since my first trip and I want to share some thoughts on my favorite things… Appetizers: –Gobhi Manchurian — these are like fried cauliflower bites in a spicy tomato sauce. OMFG — they’re amazing. Maybe my favorite. –Chili-Mili Shrimp — a close second — these mini shrimp bites are in a spicy sauce with peppers and a chili sauce. –Pavbhaji Spiced Samosa — these are good but they’re like little deep-fried breaded potato and carrot and pea filled pastries. –Paneer Pakora — Paneer is an indian cheese — this is basically the cheese breaded and spiced and deep fried. It’s not bad — but it’s a bit rich for me. –Salmon Bites — last I came I had some Salmon bites as an app — don’t see it online but they were amazing. Clean and light — cooked perfectly. I added them to my house salad. I love their house salad — Romaine, Cucumber, Tomato, House-made Croutons & Dressing. Their creamy white homemade dressing is delicious. Entrees: –Garlic-Peppercorn Maach/Salmon Fillet, Northern Indian Style Marinade — this is my absolute favorite thing on the menu. It’s to die for. The salmon is perfectly cooked every time and a HUGE portion. It comes with veggies like cauliflower, green pea stalks, asparagus and squash. The marinade is delicious and comes on the side so you can moderate the intake. Honestly — it’s amazing — but the salmon and veggies don’t even need it. –Market Vegetables«Dan-a-Dan”/ Crunchy Vegetables, Zesty Spices, Mint, Tamarind — I like this dish — it’s light and pleasant — completely veggie friendly and the mint and spice sauce the veggies are cooked in is really good with the white rice the entrée comes with. Plus I love crunchy veggies. Masala Classics — where you pick your protein and sauce(comes with rice): –Tikka Masala: Creamed Tomato-Fenugreek Sauce — with chicken this is amazing. Word to the wise — 5 heat is REALLY hot — that’s what my hubs orders and I can’t eat it. I usually do 1 because Indian spices are no joke. –Patia: A Parsi Style Tangy Sweet Curry, Mango, Ginger and Scallions — I’ve had this with chicken or lamb — both are good. Or just plain veggie. Their naan bread is cooked fresh and delicious — I love it all but am partial to the mint or garlic. Also — for dessert — the mango ice cream is light and delicious. Not too rich but enough to help wash away the spice flavor leftover from dinner — if you want to. That’s it folks! You can’t go wrong. They have proteins for meat lovers, tons of veggie options and it’s all fresh and delicious. Service is excellent when we dine-in — the staff are always friendly. But they’re also excellent with to-go and rarely, if ever, make mistakes when it comes to our orders. The inside of the restaurant is spotless and it’s clear that this is an establishment where they really take pride in what they do. Prices are not cheap — for two people with naan and entrees we typically spend between $ 40 – 60 for dinner. But you get enough that you are going to have leftovers for at least one more meal — maybe two. And the ingredients are absolutely fresh and high quality — you can tell and I am a MAJOR fresh food snob. Still, if you eat here at lunch it’s much more affordable. To us it’s well worth the price as I have it for dinner and usually take some for lunch to work. Hubs and I are big time fans — I’m thrilled they’re so nearby — we get this probably once a week or so — at least several times a month. Nom nom nom nom!!!

Quite fancy for lunch, almost a but too fancy? Glass topped tables, linen napkins, real silverware and a two course lunch is the way to go. Pick an appetizer and pick a main, then decide what protein(chicken, shrimp, etc) and how hot(mild, medium, etc). I went with the«Chaat of the Day» which was really excellent. A nice spicy(but not hot!) combination of chick peas and, interestingly, pineapple. I’ve never had pineapple like this before and it was excellent. For the main, I chose a regular curry with chicken and asked that it be hotter than medium but not as hot as hot. It arrived just as ordered. A good portion of chicken pieces in a tomato curry with a big pile of white rice and four corners of naan bread. Absolutely excellent traditional Indian food, right her in Virginia. Who’d a thunk it? In this plaza, some of these places can be hard to find. Malasa Bites backs up to the Panera Bread and is closest to the corner of Nimmo and Upton.

Why am I adding a star to this review? Because Masala Bites deserves it! We decided to dine here for my boyfriend’s birthday the other evening, just the two of us(this place is nice and intimate — perfect for any date night!) The service wasn’t the fastest, but it was forgivable this night, as there was a very large, 20+ people party there. But the staff was super friendly also, always checking on us and refilling our water. The food, omg. We ordered garlic Naan(bread) of course, because you can’t dine at an Indian restaurant and NOT order Naan. It was delicious. I will could totally eat 3 plates of it. Lol. We tried so hard to save some for our dishes because we wanted to dip them in the sauce of our entrees. My boyfriend had the Lamb Dalcha & I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. He said his was delicious and I believe him — nothing was left. My chicken Tikka Masala was cooked so perfectly — all white meat chicken in the most amazing sauce. My mouth is watering now just thinking about it! What really impressed me most though, besides the waiter bringing out this oh-so-yummy, fluffy, light, lemon cheesecake for my BF, with the words«Happy Birthday» written on the plate, was the fact that when I asked for a to-go container for my leftovers, there was also some FRESH Basmati rice to go!!! Yes, in the container. I was so impressed. I am totally a fan of Masala Bites. It’s now officially my favorite Indian restaurant!
