The country-club marina on Long Creek in Va Beach, Marina Shores is the newer of the two operations on the Creek, and is certainly the most full-service and fanciest. While their dry storage facility is the largest single building here, most of the people-activity, and buzz, centers around the in-water boats stored here, the swimming pool, and the three seasonal restaurants that are all very busy during the summer. There are also several boat brokerage businesses located here, but, the last time I looked, Marina Shores had no on-site boat service capabilities at all. I think maybe the non-marine operations at Marina Shores — the pool club, and certainly the restaurants — are probably run a little better than their dry storage and in-water boating facilities. I’ve never had the impression the dry storage forklift operators, and other marina personnel, here were as competent, or certainly as pleasant, as those at the other major dry storage facility located right across Great Neck Road. But there’s certainly no public record of operating problems here, and the amenities for in-water boaters are certainly newer and more complete here than in any other marina in Va Beach. If you have a boat and you’re looking for an in-water slip, you have your own service person(s) able to visit the boat in the water, and you enjoy hanging out at a marina restaurant, bar or pool before or after your outing, Marina Shores may be the spot for you. But, boater or not, you need to visit the Surf Rider restaurant located here, and enjoy their crab cakes.

I love Marina Shores! This statement sums up all the years we’ve been members there. Ms. Taylor Malbon and her team do everything they can to better serve the members. The marina is professionally run and managed by friendly knowledgeable staff. The Boatel crew work hard to keep everything moving. The pool, restaurants & docks are always clean. Surf Rider is amazingly good… best restaurant in Virginia Beach. It is my pleasure to rate this marina as «Excellent». M. Michals
