I’d say this is a solid BBQ place with pretty decent prices. The menu has a lot of options and the BBW is pretty good, but not the best. Like most BBQ places you need to use the sauces to get the taste you want. The portions match the prices, but some of the food(especially desserts) taste too much like it came from a box and not from the scratch. If you have a chance to have Abby as your server, she will take good care of you! I give her a 5 out of 5!

Relatively underwhelming. Had the pulled chicken(moist & flavorful) with smoked turkey(dry), cornbread muffins(dry), sweet potato fries(looked from freezer bag), and some other unremarkable side I can’t remember less than a week later. The service was fine, but I felt like the pressure to get a alcoholic beverage was annoying even if I was sitting at the bar. My girl ordered a drink & I said no thank you a half dozen times to a beer menu. I feel like after I order a soda water it should end the drink conversation unless I make a request.

The food was good. Been there a few times and enjoyed the meal. However, service has declined. My family and I went out there for lunch recently and we were all unimpressed with the service we got. The waitress acted like she was slammed and there was very few people in there. We had to flag her down to get a drink or beer refill and she slacked off on checking on us. The reason we came back is because of the food and service last time we ate there. Now the food was still good and since service is a big part of our experience, not sure if we will go back anytime soon! Sad for a place to lose a customers business due to poor service but I could go serve myself for less if thats the way I will be treated!

Meh. I’ve twice ordered from here and have been unimpressed. As others have noted — the food seems overlooked. My sweet potato fries are dry as a bone — the pulled pork is like eating dust. I mean — seriously. It’s not good. I don’t think anything they have is homemade it all looks and tastes like it was frozen and store bought. I can go to Kroger and buy pulled pork and microwave it myself. Gross.

Ordered from here through order up. When the delivery driver picked up my order, he forgot a bag. No big deal– mistakes happen. The restaurant called me to let me know and gave me the phone number for order up. I called order up and they were not sure why the restaurant would call me about this. I called the restaurant back and asked to speak to a manager. The manager I spoke with was rude and unprofessional. A simple«I’m sorry for the inconvenience» would have sufficed but instead she was rude and dismissive. Will never eat here with my family or order from here again

I don’t write many reviews so this may not count for much. We ordered pull pork with baked beans and coleslaw. Brisket was full of fat. Not very impressed with the food. My husband had some GI issues after eating here which he normally never has issues after meals. I will spare you the details, but I would just be cautious.

Upon entering we noticed a «Seat Yourself» sign at an empty hostess stand so we picked a table and for at least 10 minutes NOONE greeted us, not even the bartender who was right there. I must have used the restroom twice and my boyfriend went once before someone came. We almost left after that but someone noticed us. We ordered the beer cheese and chips for appetizers and it was good. Boyfriend ordered their half rack of ribs and pulled chicken with a side of Mac n cheese and BBQ beans. He said Mac n cheese was bland and BBQ beans came right out of a can. He was not impressed. I ordered the Ale Bratwurst with a side of sweet potato fries. Bratwurst looked sad. It was small sandwiched between a large bun with an extra piece that looked broken off from another bratwurst. Weird. Stout mustard was on the side. I asked for no kraut. Bratwurst was ok. Not the flavor I know that brats taste and I had ripped off half the bread. Place was dark and dingy. Not going back.

We came here on Halloween night. I had the crab cakes as my main dish and wasn’t too pleased with the crab cakes. I wish they used lump crab cake instead. BUT…I don’t go to bbq places much because I’m picky and I need a place that cooks better ribs than I do lol! Thier country fried ribs!!! Seriously were damn good! Smoked ribs breaded then deepfried! Amazing! Thier smoked wings… omg. Drink prices were on point and they impressed this bbqing queen!

This has one of the best décor I have seen out here! The food and drink menu is really good and there is a solid variety. The food was super filling and delicious! Service here was excellent. It is a pretty busy place during high time. Definitely recommend this place!

Stopped I here for take out while visiting the beach. Service at the bar was good. Ordered two beers and a mojito. Quite possibly the worst mojito. Not nearly enough mint and I think they used sprite and soda mix in lieu of simple syrup. We ordered an order of onion rings while we waited for our take out. They were run of the mill frozen variety. Not very good. My friend ordered the ribs and I ordered the crab cake and shrimp. Sides were okay. Collard greens and Mac n cheese. Eh. Could have used more flavor in the cheese. Crab Cake had a decent amount of crab in it, but little flavor. Shrimp was totally disappointing. I’ve seen better shrimp on a salad bar. You expect more at a restaurant met the beach. I doubt they were local. Ribs were okay. Not the best, not the worst. Sauces were a good variety. All in all I probably wouldn’t return for seafood. For BBQ in a pinch or if I don’t feel like waiting(which is why we chose in the first place.)

I checked this place out on a Saturday evening. Arrived about 6/6:30 pm Place was a bit quieter than I expected. I really liked the name and fun pig icon. Had high hopes for the place. Walking in, I was disappointed to find no hint of smoke as mentioned in previous review here on Unilocal. Since I was alone the Hostess suggested a seat at the bar and I confirmed they would serve food before I sat down. The bartender asked if I’d been in before. When I said no, she enthusiastically welcomed me «to the best BBQ restaurant in Virginia Beach.» She went on to tell me they had an extensive beer and whiskey menu. I asked for a menu, ordered a Red’s Apple Ale — I’ve never acquired a taste for beer — and then pondered the menu. I decided on a half-slab of ribs platter with two sides, mac and cheese and sweet potato fries, and added pulled pork for $ 3. Before my food arrived one of the other bartenders delivered a bucket of sauces. He described each one and told me his favorite was the mustard based sauce. The others were a beer base Kansas City style, chipotle, and North Carolina vinegar base. My food arrived within 10 minutes. I was disappointed with the amount of pulled pork for the additional $ 3. Was maybe ¼ cup at best. The ribs looked to have a decent amount of meat. The mac and cheese looked homemade but I didn’t see any signs of pepper or seasoning. The sweet potato fries looked and smelled the best. I tried a sweet potato fry first — perfect. Then a bite of the pulled pork served sans sauce. Bland. Very slight hint of smoke and very little seasoning and not much taste of pork. The ribs were topped with their beer base sauce and were fork tender. Like the pulled pork, they didn’t have a lot of flavor and seasoning except for the sauce. The mac and cheese, as I suspected, was lacking in seasoning. Definitely house made. Salt and pepper would have at least put it above average. The sauces were good and I’d have to agree with the bartender the best was the mustard based. I did mention my review and disappointment with the amount of pulled pork I received. The bartenders said they’d mention it to the manager — he meant at some point in the future. The highlight of the trip was a shot of High West Double Rye. Think I at least found me a new favorite whiskey. If I’m out in that area I’d stop in for whiskey but would probably try something else from the menu besides barbecue. My bottom line — barbecue is a lost leader. They have a lot of other items on the menu so there’s no focus or specialty. And with the extensive variety of beer and whiskey, they are a better bar or late night spot than dining establishment.

The food was good. I was very impressed at the smokiness of the ribs. The turkey was so moist and flavorful, zero sauce needed! Mac and cheese left something to be desired, was good, but nothing to write home about. Green beans were tasty. Nachos as an appetizer was amazing. The portion was huge and a definite score, would be amazing on a football Sunday! The Groupon deal was amazing, altho the prices are pretty good on their own. Beware if you do use a Groupon, the server may take your phone before you can say anything to write down the code… a big no no to take a phone thru the kitchen, to the register, etc! We will be back!

Blah! This visit was not good at all. Most of the food was over cooked! My salmon was bland and over cooked to the point of being dry. The collards were bland and the mash potatoes tasteless. My babe said even the ribs weren’t good. The only thing that tasted good and had flavor was the pink lemonade. The waitress was friendly. This visit was a disappointment!

We went for ice cream across the parking lot, but ended up here instead. This place was phenomenal! I had the sausage plater, they were both amazing, but one of them turned out to be my fave, but couldn’t figure out which one of the sausages it was. My mashed potatoes were super creamy. I honestly took tiny bites since i was trying to make it last hahah My husband’s dish was great as well. One of the girls replaced his mac and cheese with one that was just freshly made, we thought that was really nice We made a spot on decision to celebrate my hubby’s birthday there… and it’s not even until December. Jim Beam and amazing food? Yes please!!!

At the risk of being the ONE reviewer who did not visit Lulu’s on a weak-sauce coupon deal, I found it to be as expected and actually quite awesome. With any BBQ spot, there are certain expectations, and they include inconsistency, food that is acceptably imperfect, and a post-meal stomach ache. Also, if the food isn’t what you expected(BBQ joints tend to have unique tastes), you should always give the staff the chance to make you happy rather than just exploding and writing some flameout review on a review Web site. We came here hoping for some BBQ, beer, and fun sides and got exactly as ordered. No issues. Not the best BBQ in the world, but we really enjoyed the range of sauces and especially how quickly the food arrived at the table. A good effort all around, and we’ll be back soon for sure!

Like many others, I went to LuLu’s with a groupon deal which was gifted to me for my birthday. Other than the fact that it is nearly 45 minutes from our house, I would definitely eat here more often. Although I was not partaking in the brews, my husband seemed very satisfied with the selection. He was bummed because they were out of his fav(La Fin du Monde), but was impressed they it is usually on tap. Our waitress was very attentive and paid just enough attention to us. The happu hour specials are also really great. Because we had the groupon, we got the ribs and seafood plate and wings for an appetizer. The guiness wings were sooo good. If you’re close by and want a simple reasonably price meal, I’d def. recommend checking it out.

LuLu’s…Lulu’s … Lulu’s. I only tried this place because of a Groupon deal I purchased. If it wasn’t for that I probably wouldn’t of came because of the reviews I heard from other people. When you first enter through the front door you really smell the BBQ smoke and even see a few clouds of smoke passing by. That’s a good sign! My first meal was the chicken wings appetizer, oh my! That was some good wings! One of the best I’ve had! Yes folks… you heard it right… One of the best wings I’ve had! The wings had the smoke flavor and basted with this delicious sauce. For my entrée I had the salmon. Ummm… Well it was little tough, it was just a thin strip, and not really a lot of flavor. The two sides I ordered was collards greens. It was boiled in Vinegar, no other seasoning and it was just so tangy. I should have known better. Can’t eat everyone’s collard greens LOL! Sweet potato fries is just sweet potato fries. Hubby’s brisket was very fatty, so he couldn’t eat half of it. That too had no season nor can you taste the smoke. His Mac n cheese was not good either. Just your usually restaurant Mac n cheese that doesn’t get it right. Ok enough about all of that. Our waitress was sweet and friendly. So back to that cloud of smoke, it follows you everywhere because I can still smell it in my clothes and hair. And I’ve been a lot of places after I left Lulu’s. Will I go back? Only for the wings! And it will be take out because I don’t want the cloud to follow me…

No beer for me today, but I’ll still sit at the bar at lunch time. Lulu’s eponymous sandwich caught my eye. So that’s what I ordered even though I really should have had something lighter. Oops. Big pile of big pieces of pulled pork and briskey on the bun that’s then topped with a small amount of cole slaw. The meat was tender and very moist and not little bits either. This is first pull sort of stuff! A few sauces available and I did try them all. Not a fan of the«Carolina» but the tangy one that the bartender said was made with Guinness was good. Mac & cheese was very cheesey and did not cool very well. It went into a gelatinous mass and after the first few pieces, was hard to get anything from it. It should be served in a hot bowl if it’s going to do this. Good choice for lunch because it was heavy protein and not too much carbs. So not much of a nap was needed in the afternoon.

I would give this place a 4 star, but the waiter brought out cold pulled pork and briskets. I ordered a chocolate and vanilla mix milkshake and the triple cheese Mac and cheese with pulled chicken. That was delish! My bf and I got the pulled pork platter & added the $ 6 brisket. We also got the fries, potato salad, garlic green beans. Pretty legit. Try the guiness and savanna sauce. It adds all the flavor.
