HK House. THE bomb. I’ve been eating here since I worked at the old Hall Acura next door as a teen(almost 15 years ago) and I’ve never had a problem with anyone picking up the phone. To that other reviewer; how many times did you let it ring? Once? They messed up an order once out of the countless times I’ve been and it was no big deal. Probably just simple miscommunication. They put white rice instead of fried on two items. Called them and they replaced it immediately and politely. I didn’t wait several hours *ehem*(another reviewer) smdh. The staff is courteous. It is owned and operated by a husband, wife and a few employees. They’re really nice. Unfortunately, they’re closed on Sundays but they work so hard. They deserve a day off to spend with each other and family. I’m no «authentic Chinese food» connoisseur but they put these other fast food places to shame and their prices are just as affordable(especially from the lunch or all day special menu). Favorite things to order; Gen Tso’s(of course). requested extra crispy, beef lo mein, sweet/sour chicken, wings(huge, you’d think they’re duck wings), hot and sour soup(has beef chunks, eggs, bamboo shoots, mushrooms. so good on a cold day), shrimp egg foo yung, sausage and gravy, I could go on but I won’t. Only thing I wasn’t fond of was the chow mein(the noodles). Their fried rice is amazing, literally the best I’ve had anywhere with the exception of this place that was across the street from me when I lived in San Francisco– across Safeway on Mission, doesn’t exist anymore =[. I would put it at a tie with Jade Villa’s but HK house is cheaper. I went to PF Chang’s once. Garbage. Very nice ambiance but food was terrible, expensive and in very small portions. Should’ve just went to HKH and spent 1⁄3 the $. If you’re looking for delicious Chinese food«authentic» or not and don’t care if it’s a hole-in-the-wall type place, come here. Those places usually have the best food anyway.

I’ve been ordering from this place for over 10 years. They never disappoint! I’ve never had a problem with any food that I have ordered and everything is always delicious. Large portions for small prices as well! Highly recommend! I cannot comment on the dining experience, for I have only ever gotten take out.

This is one of my favorite takeout spots in VA Beach. I love their garlic chicken wings. I don’t love the fried rice, to me it has way too many onions so I stick to plain white rice. I haven’t had too many items from the menu but everything I have had was made to order and pretty good. One thing that drives me crazy is that all of the food is made to order so it takes 15 – 20 minutes to prepare. Knowing that, I try calling ahead to place my order but they never answer the phone. Like never. I don’t know if it’s a problem with the phone systems or what but it’s really frustrating knowing that I have to go there to place my order and find something to do for 20 minutes. Not really the most convenient.

The best authentic chinese food I have had since our local authentic restaurant closed. I am very picky about good chinese food. I don’t like those«fast food-everyone of them is the same version». I will definitely be back!

You haven’t had real egg drop soup until you’ve eaten it at this place, in fact all their soups are crazy good. Make sure u dine in so its hot and fresh. Every other Chinese take out place uses fake yellow dye to color their egg drop soup. Directly across the street from all around pizza and mom’s kitchen, this place is easily one of my favorite places for Chinese in Virginia beach. Order the sloppy beef, a secret item not listed on the menu created by the cook. eggs, beef, and peas tossed in a yummy sauce to smother your choice of fried rice or white.

I stopped in for take out. Never been here before. My old fav Chinese eatery changed mgrs and the food suffered. This place was friendly, accomodating, and fast. Food was good but I thought the fried rice was very bland. I won’t dine in this restaurant until some serious high cleaning is completed. But I’ll probably be back for carry out.

I was a very big fan of Hong Kong House. It was the only Chinese spot I went to in Va Beach. Every time I went I ordered the daily special with Shrimp Lo Mein, Fried Rice, and Chicken Wings. Today I got my usual. However, it tasted vastly different than usual. The chicken wings were great but the Shrimp Lo Mein and Fried Rice tasted very stale and leftover. I could not eat it and tried to give it to a friend. He said the same thing, it tasted badly. I was never even given a receipt. Ultimately, we threw the food away. At my earliest convenience I called the manager, and mentioned that I was a regular customer and explained the bad quality food I had received. He told me to bring the food back(mind you, this was hours later). I told him that I had not kept the chinese food on me throughout the day being that this was hours later. He said«Well it’s nothing I can do for you» and hung up the phone after I told him I would never be eating at his establishment again. I am extremely disappointed and am taking suggestions for a new Va Beach Chinese food spot.

Wow, actually impressed! there aren’t any good Chinese places in the Oceana area, let alone one that deliver. Hong Kong House exceeded my expectations. Their house fried rice and General Tso’s Chicken was amazing. The house rice had chucks of ham, it was so good. I wish the driver would have left me a menu though. I will order again, and shared with my coworkers!

Overall decent spot. While driving around Saturday night running errand after errand we were starving and spotted this place from across the street while at Lowe’s. We were hoping for authentic Chinese food but the waitress made it clear that this was American Chinese fare. Ehhh… Oh well. The bathroom was shady. I took that as a sign that the food is good. Weird, I know. Anyway, we put in an order for General Tso’s chicken and orange beef. Both dishes certainly had that American twist to it but I found both dishes to be pretty good. Each were tasty, crispy and with the food comas we were in after only going through half the meal, probably full of MSG. Dishes were priced under $ 10 each. All in all with a couple of drinks and tip we were in and out for $ 28. Not too shabby.

The wife and I happened to crave Chinese food but didn’t want to pay close to $ 20 for an entrée, so we decided to eat here. We have heard nothing but good things about this place so we decided to check it out. As soon as we entered it definitely had the mom & pop feel. The atmosphere is not as modern as PF Changs but we decided to eat here anyways. So we took a seat and sat down. Daily special is the best thing to order, because you get plenty of food for less than $ 8. You basically can create your own entrée. I highly suggest it. The wife and I decided to order soup, when we recieved it we were surprised on how huge the portion was for less than $ 2… When our food came it was piping hot but who complains about hot food? Nobody. My food was on point and my drink never reached the half mark on my glass. I highly recommend this place, & stop going to all the other fast food Chinese spots and definitely try this place out, you will not be disappointed. Fresh hot food made to order but most of all best bang for your buck.

I’ve been a regular at this location for the last 5 years. Unfortunately, I haven’t been a member of Unilocal long enough to have a badge to prove that… yet. The prices are unbeatable and the meals are fresh, made to order. Better than any of those No.(insert number) named restaurants that you see throughout the area, hands down. The dishes have their own genuine flavor that you can tell is their own in comparison to most generic Chinese restaurants. They have an all day special that is usually my go-to menu choice. Occasionally I come with friends during their lunch special from 11:00am — 4:00pm, which consists of one dish, served with rice(white or fried), egg drop soup or hot & sour soup, or soda. We each get a different dish and just share them. My favorite order is the all day special beef lo mein, with 2 chicken wings and fried rice. I usually ask to make my meal spicy which is how they’ve come to remember me by. Friendly owners and servers. Highly recommend if you’re craving Chinese food but don’t want to spend as much money as you probably would at other great Chinese restaurants such as Jade Villa or Judy’s Sichuan Cuisine.
