boyfriend and i love hashi. we tried it at the old beach farmers market and needless to say we are now hooked. boyfriend got a steak noodle bowl(i think) and i got the breakfast congi– soooo amazing. as another reviewer said, the attention to detail in each and every dish is above and beyond what you would expect from a food truck vendor and its so obvious. we will follow this dude wherever he drives his glorious hashi truck.

This was one of my first experiences with a food truck in the Hampton Roads region. I decided to try the Hashi Rice Bowl with pulled beef — definitely a good sized portion and made me feel like I was choosing a healthy lunch option. The veggies and pickles were delicious, but the pulled beef definitely had me in heaven! The wait to have the food made wasn’t long at all and their workers are all super friendly and nice. Can’t wait to try their other menu options when I get the chance!

Locally sourced, fresh food with an Asian flair? Yes, please!!! I wasn’t sure what to get but they recommended the Hashi hash and I wasn’t disappointed. Super nice folks on the truck and good food. Try it!!!

So much flavor! I’ll start by saying I’m not a fan of congee(or in Korean. we call it Jook) because my mom would try to give it to me when I would get sick. It was bland and awful. Now if my mom served me congee with all the fixin’s and a slab of salty pork belly, I’m sure we’d be having a different conversation. Ran into the Hashi food truck at the Old Beach Farmers Market and the congee just sounded too good to pass up. It was. Topping the flavorful congee was chicken, wild mushrooms, plus other goodies and then that pork belly I raved about. This was the perfect dish for a cold day at the farmers market. This is a definite must have. If you happen to be in a location where Hashi is, I recommend you stand in that line and give them a try.

I had the Venison Chili and Gator Sausage Corn Dog. Both were top notch! My friend and his wife split the Wild Boar Mac n Cheese and the Duck Cubano. They said both were excellent. I highly recommend these guys! Great food served fresh, hot and fast!

I had a terrific crispy pork shoulder soup with noodles, an egg and hominy. Paid $ 9 and ready to do it again. The best food truck meal I have had in Hampton Roads yet.

I first found these folks at Beach Brewing Co. over a month ago. I had never even heard of them, so a little bit skeptical with the different name, but I was hungry. I have really enjoyed catching on to the food truck phenomenon in Hampton Roads. So Hashi would be another notch in my belt. The truck definitely stands out from others with it’s wood paneling and rainbow colored awning that guest order under. My best plan play was to walk up and ask what they do best on my first visit, I do this often and it usually works out well. The exterior of the truck was attractive kept up. The serving counter was spic and span as was the condiment area. Upon peaking in I noticed nothing out of the ordinary regarding it’s condition other than it was clean. It appeared that they also had set up corn hole in the parking lot which was cool. There were at least three Men working hard in the truck when it was my time and the advice was to go for the Pulled pork & creamery baked rice grits at $ 8. I must tell you the truth, I really wondered if this was a mistake. I am not a big grits fan. However, I threw caution to the wind and said go for it. The turn around time was less than 5 minutes and I saw what I ordered… interesting I thought. The gentlemen was cordial then entire time that we chatted. I took my stryofoam bowl and plastic spoon into Beach Brewery and got a great beer to accompany my dinner. The food was still steaming hot and the pork smelled delicious. A man beside me just walked up to the bar and asked me what that was before I took a bite and waited to hear the results. Drum roll please… Holly Mother of GOODNESS!!! It was insanely scrumptious, I could not even describe to the man that was waiting my description. I looked at him and a few others in his party that now just joined him and said this is what you need to order… NOW! I was impressed enough that I went to facebook, liked them so I could stalk their whereabouts in HR. I caught them on Lynnhaven at Bank of HR Tuesday. These dudes are rock stars and are heading to the Big Apple for a few days this weekend. I do not see a schedule for HR next week on their page. I am now a regular with four visits and will continue to follow them where ever they may go, well not NYC this weekend but you get it! I cannot recall the few other items I tried, but one was a scrumptious pork belly. It seems like they keep the menu fresh, so watch for changes. I could not dare break there winning streak of 5 stars and agree with others that you can get some stellar grub here. Do NOT be intimidated by food trucks folks. Like any other restaurant you can have different luck. So be brave and try not only Hashi, but others that are reviewed on Unilocal for some delicious truck food fare.

Hashi has an amazing menu that is constantly changing. I love the miso soup with rice! If you can locate where they are you should definitely check them out. It won’t disappoint.

I’m loving the variety of different food trucks that are emerging out of Hampton roads. Hashi is a great addition to the food scene here. Hashi introduces the Asian styled«grits»(Aka congee) to the area and puts their own twists to it. They also do creative rice bowls. And their desserts are just the perfect finish. I’m usually not a citrusy dessert person, I love chocolate, but those yuzu bars are amazing and I’m still dreamin about them. I suggest everyone to follow them on Facebook or Twitter and hunt them down! They update their location status through social media.

Both experiences I’ve had at Hashi have been incredible. Every dish was hand crafted beautifully and intentionally from the fresh strawberry and lime soda(definitely try this) to the miso soup(add a slow poached egg in there — SO good). I was thoroughly impressed with the thought, care and detail that went into every bite. My friends and I collectively tried one of everything on the breakfast menu — blown away by all of it! Go check it out! Can’t wait to go back!

There’s nothing more to say than find it and eat here. It’s awesome. It’s better than it needs to be and the care and preparation in each dish is obvious. VB needs to embrace good trucks and you can’t miss this one.

The Hashi Food Truck has become one of my weekend mainstays in recent weeks. If it sets up shop in the parking lot at Beach Brewing Company some day I may just end up pitching a tent in the grass next to the building. I would struggle to find a reason to leave. Chef Ross Riddle, who has run kitchens all across Tidewater from Todd Jurich’s to Mizuno’s, has branched out to be his own boss with this latest addition to the local food truck scene. The heart and soul of his menu is the pairing of Asian techniques with Virginia foodways. This translates into a breakfast bowl of Japanese style congee(i.e. rice grits) topped off with Edwards breakfast sausage and a perfectly poached local farm egg. Hearty, filling and delicious. The menu changes almost daily depending on what fresh ingredients he can pick up at local markets. Just this weekend I sampled his«See You OK, Sando» which had crispy smoked pork shoulder on a ciabatta bun, slathered with miso mustard and topped with arugula. Soul satisfying stuff. Ross then offered me a taste of a new creation he has been toying with. His version of a Korean Kimbap roll, which is very similar to a Japanese sushi roll. Think rice, veggies and protein all wrapped up in sheets of seaweed nori. Only with Ross, the roll consisted of Carolina rice, black pepper pork belly, asparagus, turnip greens, carrot and daikon pickles. He then tops it with a spicy pepper sauce just before he hands it to you. Its a pretty healthy way to wrap up some delicious pork belly! Do keep your eye out for the HFT. It is worth the effort to head down to the oceanfront neighborhood. Ross currently parks in a bank parking lot just off of 21st street but will also parked outside a number of events as the summer gets rolling. If you are on the prowl for something unique and see the word«Hashi» on the side of a food truck, stop immediately and get in line. You won’t regret it.
