This is one of our favorite spots. Staff is always friendly and caring. Service is quick. Food is always fresh and good, from the veggie delight appetizer, to salads, burgers, pizza, delicious entrées. Great craft beer and wine selection. You should go.

Food was OK, the service was horrible. Ordered a pizza and asked for Parmesan and pepper. Received the pepper and Parmesan 15 min after the pizza was brought to the table. Our waitress was mostly absent. The Mac and cheese was noodles with shredded cheese, what is this nachos? A hobo would have been better at service than our server.

This place was nothing short of WOW! They had a great assortment of wine and beer and their food was unbelievable. If you go, definitely get the bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer. My husband and I were both amazed at how awesome everything tasted. I had the crab cakes and my husband had the prime rib. The raspberry cheesecake was also an amazing finish to our meal. We will definitely be back.

We always enjoy our meal when we come. The service is great and if you like wine, they have a wine bar. We don’t really drink, so we have never tried it, but when we brought my Mom, she thought it was great. We just went for New Years Eve. They had a limited menu then, but usually the menu has a wide selection. It can be a little pricey and I must always bring a sweater in the summer so I gave it a 4. The food and service is a 5 star!

I’m sorry my fellow Unilocalers… I so wanted to agree with you all and love this place but I didn’t. Let me start with the décor, the ambiance and all that is great. The seating with large booths for large Parties is nice. The staff is super attentive and friendly. The wine stuff is a pretty cool concept but I imagine it can get expensive real quick! Plain and simple it’s the food that sucked, mostly. The bacon wrapped asparagus app is delicious. It’s was served on a bed of spinach with a lovely balsamic glaze. I should have just ordered that for my meal. For my dinner I ordered the Mahi dish and substituted the pilaf for the risotto, at a 2.00 $ up charge mind you. If your gonna charge me more for basically swapping rice for rice, that rice better rock my socks… this was hands down the worst risotto I’ve ever tasted. It was horribly overlooked, mushy nasty mess. It was completely under seasoned and when I say under seasoned I mean NOFLAVOR at all, no salt, no pepper no nothing! Which blows my mind because the broccoli side I had was so over salted it was inedible. The broccoli chef with the heavy salt hand should be on the risotto station so it at least tastes like salt! The Mahi was cooked perfect but it too we over salted. I asked to swap the two crap sides for the pilaf and asparagus sides. The waitress was very kind and the manager brought my new sides. They sucked just as bad as the first, the pilaf was under cooked and crunchy and the asparagus was over salted again, so I gave up and my table mates shared their food with me, which to my dismay was pretty good. The only great thing about the meal was the chocolate mousse pie that I’m sure they just order in frozen so they can’t take credit for that! Taking this off my bookmark list and never going back. This meal cost me $ 40.00 and I’m left feeling robbed. They took nothing off my bill except the 2.00 $ risotto up charge.

We are here on the Columbus Day Holiday enjoying Virginia Beach. Recommended by TripAdvisor, Facebook and locals. All we correct. Excellent relaxing lunch with my wife. Bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was great, butter squash ravioli with shrimp was delicious and the wife had«Not your momma’s meatloaf» both were great.

Clean, friendly, great food. Fun wine machines. Shrimp tacos = amazing. Flatbreads seemed to be gobbled up. Our 3 year old ate daddy’s flatbread, she loved it! Place was laid out great. Changing table in both men and women’s bathrooms. Bonus star for that one!

This is my first time here, even though I’ve passed it so many times I lost count. A $ 10 coupon from the Entertainment Book made me think about finally trying the place out. The restaurant is located in the Red Mill section and no more than a half mile from Red Mill Commons. Parking is plentiful, but I see larger cars and trucks parking in the compact car parking spots. I guess every vehicle is compact now? The outside of the place is manicured well. Once we came in, it wasn’t that busy yet. We were seated pretty quickly and was during happy hour, which out server Allison told us. There are a lot of local beer options, as well as a self service wine area of you like to drink. The ambiance in here is casual, but can get a bit noisy when some that are drunk are in conversation. Since we looked at the menu at home, ordering was very quick. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken entrée, substituting the seasonal vegetables with garlic mashed potatoes and my mom ordered the crab cakes entrée. The food came out fairly quickly. The bourbon chicken entrée was very good. The chicken was quite thick, juicy, and delicious. I’ve been to other places that are good too, but their chicken always tends to be thin, so this was a good surprise for me here. When you first look at the plate you are about to eat, it doesn’t look like there is a lot there. However, once you start eating, your stomach will tell you that there is enough there. The garlic mashed potatoes were really good too. I would get this entrée again in the future. My mom gave me a bit of the crab cake to try out. The crab cake was delicious and there were no fillers in there; it was pure crab meat. During this visit, service was on point and there were no issues. As we were finishing, the area we were sitting in was being set up for a private event to be held later that evening, which I think was a rehearsal dinner. Overall, this is a great place to come for entrees. If you’re in the area and looking for places to eat, this is a place you should try out. Although the menu looks a bit small, there are a lot of options on there. There are other items on their menu that I’ll try out on a future visit here.

Great service, Chris did a great job explaining the specials and making sure we had what we needed. They have a really cool self serve wine area-I don’t drink wine but know it’s probably appealing to a lot of people. Instead I had their equivalent of an orange dreamsicle and it was delicious! My entrée was the salmon with risotto and asparagus. The salmon was thin, and cooked a little more than I’d like, but the risotto was creamy and delicious. For dessert we had their special orange cake. OMG, it smelled and tasted like Fruit Loops! I mean this in a good way! The icing was a tangy cream cheese and the cake was so moist and delicious. Great food, great service. Would recommend!

Was looking for somewhere different to go out for drinks when in the 757 area. Checked out Unilocal and was guided to this fun stop. The place is quite casual, when we came in some were waiting to be sat but we walked right up to the bar. They have a self serve wine station which was overly exciting to me. You get a card that acts as your tab, you can buy wine by the taste, ½ glass or full. Wednesday’s they have 20 dollar bottles as the special. They have 12 whites and 12 reds available so lots of variety. My boyfriend had a beer flight and tried 4 – 5 microbrews. Needless to say, it filled our main purpose which was to grab a drink. They had outside seating but that was full. They have a lot of seafood options but I can’t report on that because I don’t eat any of it. Most food is made in a fire oven and you can see that happening from the bar. We weren’t super hungry so we shared a bacon cheeseburger. It was cooked as ordered and was tasty. Could have used a better bun. Fries were great as well, baked potato wedges. Not sure if they have dessert, didn’t see it on any of the menus but also didn’t ask. Would surely go back for a meal, and of course a cocktail based on my experience. I believe our bartenders were Jenny and Dylan, both attentive and welcoming.

I know that I already recently reviewed Firebrew, but I just have a few things to add :) I went again for my hubby’s birthday and we sat at the bar to eat and drink. All of the food was delicious as always, but our bartender, Justin, did one extra thing right that set him apart. I asked if they had any chocolate milkshakes, and he said that they don’t on the menu, but that he was willing to try to make one for me. I was so impressed by his willingness to go the extra mile for a customer. And it’s not like it was a slow night — it was actually quite busy, but he still took the time out to please a customer. I wish there were more bartenders like him! :)

No fryers, no microwaves. Just a big gas-fired stone oven. And maybe some grills in the back. And so when faced with this, I went with the easy choice. Pizza. Tasty with shredded chicken, sauteed onions and a sweet barbecue sauce drizzled over it, it was then cut into a checkerboard and served. Big enough to be too much for just one person, but not quite big enough for two to share and be stuffed. If you get the pizza, get something else to go with it. Quiet at lunch time, but the service was still prompt and efficient.

Me likey! Very nice establishment. Awesome warm décor, friendly staff, tasty fresh food and an owner who comes by to ask how the food is and thank you for coming! The wine station is a very cool and unique addition. My babe and I bought a bottle of wine to share(Wine Wednesday), but I think next time I may just try the wine station. We joined their Royalty Rewards program and honestly I can’t remember the deal they give you, but signing up was free, and you get some kinda perk for being a member. Overall, the experience there was really nice, and we plan to go back.

Came here for restaurant week. There was a three course meal special for $ 20 bucks which I opted for so let’s run through the menu: Starter — she crab soup: the pros of this dish was the amount of crab that was actually in the soup. The cons you ask? For one, there was a shell in the soup AND it was lukewarm, if that. Main course — 8oz flat iron steak with potatoes and veggies: my steak was cooked well(medium-well). Nothing spectacular though. Dessert — raspberry drizzled brownie with ice cream: My only complaint/recommendation would have been to warm the brownie. It was cold and was not very moist. I assume they had these sitting out for some time. Overall — I won’t loose any sleep if I never make it back.

It’s really a 3.5 star place but I’m willing to round up due to customer service. Initially there was a 25 – 30 minute wait for a table but he bar had plenty of seats so we went with bar service. We came in for Virginia Beach restaurant week. I had the She Crab soup, Flank Steak, and the Chambord Raspberry brownie a la mode. The only let-down, and it was slight, was the She Crab soup. The taste was okay but the soup was a little thin. It wasn’t a really creamy soup like I’m used to. My steak was spot on. They definitely did not flunk flank when it came to my steak… it was well seasoned and very tender. The vegetables and mashed potato sides were terrific. My dessert was good. The brownie had chunks of chocolate and a nice raspberry under tone and who could complain about ice cream. Overall I really enjoyed meal. The beers on tab are all first rate brews and the whole restaurant is very warm and welcoming. I will definitely be back to try the regular menu.

Successful visit. I wouldn’t have known this place if it wasn’t advertised as one of the host of Virginia Beach Restaurant Week 2015. I came here with a friend to support the Unilocal event and of course to try this place and see what makes them special. It was quite busy and might take awhile to be seated however we were advised that the bar had open space so we decided to sit and dine at the bar. It wasn’t that bad at all. In fact, we were directly served and ordered the food. Frankly speaking the one thing the makes this place stand out is the superb customer service. I thought the service was incredibly wonderful. The server was polite, attentive, and ensured that everything you needed comes on time. I’m happy with the menu that was highlighted for said event. It wasn’t bad for 20 dollars three course meal. For my visit today, I started with she crab soup followed with Pan seared Mahi served with asparagus and roasted potato and finished up with Coconut rum Angel food cake. I was a bit disappointed with the she crab soup, it was very thin and watery. Though the flavor profile was there but it wasn’t that appetizing. The main course was probably the highlight of my meal, the fish was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The sides complemented the main component of the dish. Thought the asparagus was crunchy and the potatoes melted in my mouth. I just love the way it was cooked with a little bit of herbs. I’m not crazy with the dessert. I didn’t like it much and I thought it was forgettable. Overall, I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the hospitality service. I would probably not in rush to come back but you never know.

I’m not sure what the deal is with restaurants that participate in Restaurant Week, but it seems that in my experience the food is never really the best of what they have to offer. My husband and I joined some fellow Unilocalers for dinner during restaurant week and when I reviewed the menu prior to arriving I was excited, especially when I knew I was going to get three courses for $ 20. My first course was a caesar salad. I know, kind of boring, everyone and anyone can make a caesar salad, but it’s what I chose. It was okay, nothing fancy and it had cherry tomatoes(so that was a first). I ate it and that was that. My husband ordered the caesar salad too but also wanted to try the bacon wrapped asparagus(an option for the first course, but we wanted the appetizer size). Now after having the asparagus I should have just picked that for my first course instead of the salad. Ohwell, I enjoyed the asparagus wrapped in bacon! Get this when you go! My second course was the roasted chicken with risotto. My chicken wasn’t seasoned very well and it was dry. Bummer. However, the risotto with mushrooms and butternut squash was the star of the dish. I would have been happy with a plate of this risotto and no chicken. My husband had the flat iron steak and I sampled a bite, which was tasty, but the mashed potatoes and grilled veggies on his plate looked sad and soggy. For the third course I had the chambord raspberry brownie a la mode. To my disappointment, my brownie was dry. My husband had the coconut angel food cake, which I thought should have been a little more«spongy» but it was also kinda dry. Overall, those we were dining with really enjoyed their food and I wouldn’t write this place off, but I’m not going to rush back here anytime soon.

I visited Firebrew for the first time last night while participating in a UYE for Virginia Beach Restaurant Week 2015. I have to say from the get go I was impressed with the place when I walked in the door. The interior design is excellent with a lot of woodwork and basically white walls. What brings it all together is the dimmed down yet perfectly placed lighting throughout the dining area. It creates a great mood. One thing I want to bring up before I forget is that our server, I think her name was Paige, let us know that every dish is cooked to order. Nothing is heated in a microwave or deep fried. Pretty much everything comes from the 650 degree oven. So there were 10 of us total attending last night and everyone put together a dinner based off the Virginia Beach Restaurant Week menu. The three course meal included your choice from 5 appetizers, 5 entrée’s and 3 deserts. Dinner ran $ 20. I had a cup of She Crab Soup to start with a Flat Iron Steak for dinner and followed that up with Chambord Raspberry Brownie Ala Mode for desert. I found the soup creamy and there were plenty of bits of crab and potato in it, yet the taste was a little salty side and could have been a little bit hotter. The steak was a home run! Cooked to perfection, I asked for medium, it was perfectly prepared with a mushroom gravy and had a beautiful pink color in the center. The mashed potatoes and veggies were also very good. Last but not least was the brownie for desert. The brownie was fresh out of the oven and still warm. It smelled and tasted delicious, but I hate to admit was bit on the dry side. They may want to cut the cooking time by a minute or two. I evenly scooped my ice cream along with each brownie bite and that worked out well. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I really enjoy it when a restaurant takes the time to make their food look good as well as taste good. The entire meal looked great as they placed everyone’s dishes on the table. The service was also perfect throughout the evening. Our server, and I’m kicking myself for not being sure about her name, was extremely knowledgeable about the food and beer/wine menu and was able to answer any and all questions we had. I’m sure if it wasn’t so far from home and I was a regular visitor she would know my preferences within a visit or two. Great little place. I’m looking forward to going back and trying out some more dishes.

Just had dinner tonight with a few other Unilocalers for the Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. Overall, a solid spot! And for $ 20, you really can’t ask for anything more. Started things off with the bacon-wrapped asparagus. Wow, those two together… the star of the evening. I did my happy food dance with no embarrassment! As for my entrée, I had the flat iron steak cooked rare. This was a pretty good steak and came out with no hiccup. 8 damn good ounces of red meat. As for my dessert, I had the brownie with ice cream on top. The ice cream was delicious… I thought the brownie was rather dry though. Nice spot. Nicely lit. Not too bright. Not too dark. It’s a great dinner atmosphere. Good service from the staff, too. This spot is off my beaten path of where I go out for dinner but I’ll gladly go back.
