This hotel has gotten some bad reviews, but my stay here overall was pleasant. My fiancée and I decided, after a recent move to Virginia, to spend Valentine’s Day at the beach, even if it meant it would be cold. We arrived and checked in, which both of us thought painless: the staff was at worst courteous and at best extraordinary. Our room was clean and modern, with all expected amenities. The linens were clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was smallish, but this allowed for extra space in the main room for a small table next to the window overlooking the ocean. The hotel’s unique color scheme and convenient location(near the pier, within walking distance of everything) make it easy to find from the beach. Breakfast is included and is fairly standard for a hotel of this type. I have only two complaints about the room: 1. The pool was closed for renovations. This was not well advertised online while making the reservation, and the indoor pool was one of the reasons we chose this location. 2. The balcony door was lacking in insulation: there was a significant air gap that made the whole room feel chilled. We ended up hanging a blanket over the door to try to keep some cold air out. If anyone from hotel management is reading this, foam or rubber insulation is inexpensive and would improve the comfort of the room and reduce the heating/air conditioning bill drastically. Just saying. I would be likely to stay here again on my next trip to the area.

We were here for a Holiday Party for the Knights of Columbus. I would say there were about 100 of us for adult beverages and a buffet with a DJ. We did not take a room for the night. The decorations were adequate. The cash bar had cheap wine but top shelf liquor. Price was great at $ 5.00 an adult beverage, no matter what you were ordering. The buffet was adequate at best. Dark greens with a choice of red onions and tomatoes for the salad, two dressing choices. Overcooked summer squash with carrots was the veggie choice. There was also mashed potato, some kind of chicken and a beef carving station. The dessert cakes and pies looked beautiful. I had a nibble of my husbands chocolate cake and it was delicious. When I visited the rest room I found the floor to be somewhat flooded, not sure what the liquid was. I choose to not drop my dressy palazzo pants and went to the front desk. I got a key to use the worker-bee’s rest room. It was beautiful, clean, granite and very roomy. Theirs is better than ours.

If I could give this location negative stars I would. This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in years. I travel extensively for business and was at this hotel with a group and didn’t have a choice as to where I was saying. Our room was not cleaned our AC didn’t work and when we complained about it I was made to feel as if I was being overly demanding by wanting AC when it was 90+ degrees and high humidity in late summer. The bathrooms are tiny, water pressure is marginal paint in the walls is bubbling and peeling. When the AC does work it is very noisy. If this was the only hotel in town, keep driving!

published my review of Best Western Plus«Oceanfront». While everything was ‘ok’ it was not at all what it advertised on their website. I live here, I saw the pictures and thought, yep, I know that hotel. Well, I guarantee you they won’t show pictures of their«westside rooms» online. That’s because it’s a MOTEL they own(behind the pretty Oceanfront hotel in all their pictures) and it’s a shitty thing to do to customers. It’s not a west-facing«room» it’s an entirely different building! I reserved the hotel for my Oceanfront wedding weekend for my kids — naturally I thought it was the hotel they showed online. It’s not. Think 1950’s exterior room washed-up beach motel with no elevator.

I wish I could give this review NO stars! The absolute MOST disgusting place I have ever stayed in my life!!! We can first start off that they charged us for our rooms before we even got there!!! So $ 1,200 down the drain right in the beginning of our vacation. Then we walk up to our room… not only did it smell like straight cigarette smoke, the walls were falling apart and the ceiling had holes EVERYWHERE!!! The bathroom sink is right in front of you as soon as you walk in, the toilet and shower are basically on top of each other and a rather larger person would never be able to fit in there! We walked around once we got settled and noticed that there was something carved into the piece of furniture that held our clothes. We could never make out what it said, but it covered most of the armoire! Carpet was peeling up in the corners, there were scratches all over the walls, it looked like the sink was going to fall off and the tub was coming apart from the wall. After a day at the beach, we all started to shower. I was the first to step in and it felt like the shower was going to fall thru the floor! It was NOT attached to the wall!!! The bathtub moved when you moved! The shower was yellow, because it was so old and run down. Towards the end of our stay the housekeepers were insanely rude to us! The never knocked before they came in and one time yelled«Jesus Christ» at us! Unacceptable! We ended up finding out that our hotel pool was across the street, as well as additional parking.: /there are so many other reasons why this was the WORST place I have stayed in my life… and the cockroach crawling around our room was the icing on the cake!!! Whoever owns/manages this hotel needs to be fired! So super run down and OVERPRICED for what you get.

Pros and cons to this hotel. Before I start, this review is for the Ocean Front location. The non Ocean Front rooms are across the street and appear to look more like a motel. Pros: Location, location, location. Right on the boardwalk and not far from the convention center. Excellent views of the beach. Reasonable price for the location in the summer. Balcony with chairs. Friendly helpful staff. Large fridge and microwave Very comfortable beds and pillows. Air Conditioning worked very well on really hot days. Free breakfast. Cons: Main parking lot very small. Have to park across street most of the time. Only 3 handicapped parking spots. Main elevators are very small. Outdoor pool is across the street and small. Indoor pool is small and very chlorinated. Tiny bathroom. Room on the small size. Rooms need some updating, showing age and wear and tear. Amenities were not always replaced(soap, shampoo, etc) Breakfast was just okay compared to some other hotels free breakfast. I gave the hotel 3 stars. I thought it was good but not great. With an upgrade it could move up to 4 stars. I would only recommend the ocean front rooms, it is most definitely worth the extra money at this location.

SLEAZY, COMPLETELYUNPROFESSIONAL, RUDEANDINCOMPETENT! Do not waste your money on this place, go for a Holiday Inn instead. I left a package at the end of my stay with Front Desk Attendant who told me that the mailman would be by within the hour to pick it up and that she could«absolutely» have it mailed. No questions asked. The package never left the front desk, I was charged over $ 600 in late fees by the company receiving it. I had to request that a family member drive to the location to retrieve the package so it could finally be mailed. When the company offered to refund me half of my late fees and issue an invoice to Best Western for the remaining fees, the general manager(Joe D.) was extremely rude, abrasive, and uncooperative. My package was simply left, unattended, for several weeks with no notice given to myself or my boyfriend who booked the reservation. Did no one think to ask why a pre-paid package was just left? Why would a hotel employee offer to mail something for me when they had no intention of doing so? Not to mention Joe’s demeanor on the phone was ridiculously unprofessional and plain mean. This is completely unacceptable from an establishment that is supposed to boast great customer service at a value price. We travel often to visit friends and have previously counted on Best Westerns for all of our trips. This will no longer be the case as I do not feel safe in an establishment that does not follow through on claims or cannot be bothered to be civil with a guest. And to the management — man up and hold yourself accountable for your terrible employees and customer service. Save yourself and your valuables the trouble and spend a little more money to go somewhere else. UPDATE: The company in question refunded me in full — an example of EXCELLENT customer service. Unfortunate for the Best Western team, who very clearly did not listen to me or my concerns prior to telling me that they could mail my package no problem. Please do not play dumb.
