This B&B was amazing! The innkeepers are exceptionally nice and friendly and go out of their way to make you welcome. I cannot say enough good things about this nicely located, quiet, well maintained and managed B&B. I HIGHLY recommend staying here and book early as there are only 8 rooms. I booked my room for next year ALREADY!

Amazing!!! I will never stay in a hotel again after staying here. There is not one bad thing I can say about my stay. My boyfriend and I went for two nights and I wish it was longer. Everything was great. I also recommend Murphy’s catch 31 and lunasea for dinner and drinks.

My boyfriend and I just spent the weekend there for his birthday and we LOVED it. We felt like we made friends with everyone and enjoyed the breakfast every morning. The room was clean and the bathroom was AMAZING… we loved the shower!!! The breakfast both mornings. YUMMY! We will be back.

This place was wonderful! I recently stayed here for three nights and the room was clean, beautiful, spacious and had an incredible shower. The outdoor hot tub and amazing breakfasts made the stay. The inkeepers were friendly, helpful, and all around wonderful. I will stay here again. Oh, and blocks from the beach. Don’t forget to visit the state park.

My husband and I stayed here in July 2012 to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. I was a little apprehensive as I’ve never stayed at a B&B so I didn’t have a point of reference. Getting to the B&B was an experience. My husband was late getting home from work so we were blazing down 95 trying to make it in time for our dinner reservation at the Terrapin(that’s a whole other review for you right there). When we realized there was no way we were going to make the reservation, we called Sharon(the innkeeper) back and asked her to move our dinner reservation. She was able to score a 9pm reservation for us. That meant we could check-in, shower and relax a bit before heading to a late dinner. We finally arrive and I have to admit when we pulled up we were a bit weary. Mind you neither of us had stayed in a B&B so I was still expecting a «hotel» type building. My husband admitted after the fact that he was like, «Did we really leave home to sleep here?» LOL. Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised when we entered. Everything was immaculate and the old-world charm and modern renovations were impressive. The bed and breakfast was two blocks from the beach so we didn’t have to move our car. The facility was impeccably clean, everything was fresh and we were surprised to find a bottle of champagne, a dozen roses and a personalized happy anniversary card waiting for us when we arrived. The beds… ugh, they were the worst. Felt like I was sleeping outside on the concrete. I woke up several times throughout the night, whining because of it. So yea, I was pretty grumpy in the morning. BUT then there was breakfast. MMMMMMMM Goooooodt! Yes, I had to throw a «t» on the end. First morning we had baked grapefruit. I don’t eat grapefruit, at least I didn’t until then. Bacon/Egg Frittata and pastries. The next morning we had orange zest french toast and I literally begged my husband to let us to Rick and Sharon home with us. Well, Rick really since he was the cook! THEBAD: Well I mentioned the beds already. I simply can NOT abide a hard bed. So, after day two of our three night stay, I’d had enough. That’s right, we flew the coup. Left so fast I forgot my eyeglasses. Now we paid over $ 1,200 for our three night stay, you’d think mailing my eyeglasses, especially since we basically gave them a free night on us, would be free. NOT. Sharon emailed me that there would be a small fee for my glasses. Ha, small my eye! The postage stamp on the package read $ 3.49 but she charged my credit card $ 15!!! So yea, all the warm fuzzy feelings I had about my stay at the Beach Spa Bed and Breakfast were erased. Then, to add insult to injury, I never received a receipt(she said she’d mail) and when I tried to leave a review on their website, they literally badgered me for a couple weeks to show a receipt to prove I stayed. So while initially my stay was nice, I will NOT be visiting again.

We had a wonderful time staying here! The shower is pretty cool! It takes a little instruction, but Rich took a lot of time explaining it to us. The hot tub is lovely — there is a «massaging waterfall» that is lots of fun. The breakfast was delicious and the bed was really comfy. All in all what else could you want?

I’m struggling with this review, if it weren’t for one thing we probably would have had an excellent stay, but a third degree burn from the shower is a pretty big thing, especially since it happened the first night. The inn keeper was nice, breakfasts were good, room was clean, location was fine but… yeah. If you go, beware of 2 things, 1. The shower, stay away from anything that isn’t the overhead thing, there is some serious steam going on, and 2. The first floor is NOT sound proof, like i was told, we could definitely hear people walking above us. I will always remember this trip when I see the scar on my finger.

Husband and I got a gift certificate from our friends for our wedding last year and we never got around to redeeming it until now. Husband was browsing on the website and saw this place and he got so excited. We decided to go for a two night stay before Labor Day weekend. This was our first stay at a B&B, so we didn’t really know what to expect. We were pleased with our stay to say the least. Pros: — lovely fresh, clean and contemporary décor and design of the building and rooms, but it still had country charm — our room had a great steam shower with a rain showerhead — delicious breakfasts courtesy of Danny(chorizo and pepper frittata on day one, and asparagus crêpe with crab mornay sauce on day two) — spa hot tub(although the water was kind of cold when we used it) — two blocks away from the beach — yummy oatmeal raisin cookies — on site parking Cons: — umm… my mind’s blank I would totally recommend this place to friends who need a weekend getaway!

We stayed here about a year ago to celebrate our anniversary. I absolutely love this place. It’s nice without being too pretentious. It’s convenient to the beach without being to busy or crowded. The owners are friendly and kind. The breakfasts were great. They were very accommodating to my husband’s aversion to eggs and dairy. It is the perfect place to go to relax. Would not recommend it for children — there were kids staying there but really it’s better for couples. We wanted to get a massage but never got around to it– and didn’t need to because we were so darn relaxed! We stayed in the Princess Anne which was like having the place all to ourselves. I can’t wait until we get the chance to come back!

We stayed at this BnB for President’s day weekend and got a great off-season rate of $ 110 per night. We were supposed to stay in The Breakers room, but the existing guests wanted to extend their stay in that room so the owners moved us to the Albermarle room. The room was really clean and immaculate, and the beds very comfortable. Ruth was the innkeeper and made us feel very welcome, in the mornings she made such delicious breakfasts. The first morning we started off with fresh warm banana-nut muffins and sliced mangos in a berry sauce. We then finished with potato latkes and smoked salmon. For the 2nd morning we started with warm fresh-made orange apple muffins and sliced oranges. We finished that meal with a breakfast crêpe with eggs and asparagus in a cheese sauce. What a treat! The BnB also has a nice outdoor spa, it was a little cold for us but we could imagine using it in the warmer-weather months. I also liked their eco-friendly approach, you can read more about it on their website. The only downside to this place is that they only had one hair dryer available for the whole BnB. It was available for everyone to use but you had to go to the main floor to use it. I didn’t find it to be too bothersome but if you like to dry your hair in the privacy of your own room you should probably bring your own. Oh I forgot to also mention, not sure if this is a regular offering but at 5:30pm they hold a wine hour where you can enjoy a complimentary glass with some grapes. One last thing, the invoice you receive upon check out can be confusing. It took some time to get the details right, just fyi there is a 13% VA Beach Resort Tax on hotels.
