Went there last night(Sunday evening) and they were closed at 8PM? They need to stick to their posted hours. But they do have great food.

We had a fantastic experience at Athens tonight and we are excited to have such an awesome little place so close to our new home. To start, they sat us quickly at a clean table and got our drinks going right away. Our Server, MELISSA was fantastic. She was friendly, hit all the details on the head, and even clarified if we wanted our salads and pita to come out before our main dishes. Our daughters loved their food… Our 8-year-old ordered the chicken tenders and French fries, enjoyed them and finished her food. Our 12-year-old got the spaghetti(regular, not kids size) and loved it, thoroughly enjoying the garlic toast that came along side. My husband ordered the gyro dinner plate. It was awesome. It’s basically a gyro deconstructed, plus you get a spanakopita, and a grape leaf wrap in addition. An awesome sampler of their standard Greek fare. I went with the gyro sandwich — frankly, because o had been craving one all day — and also a small Greek salad(which is not tiny by any means). All of our food was awesome and came second only to the service. Melissa did a great job of keeping our drinks full(and not refilling our daughter’s a third time after we explained they only get one refill on soda). We will be back, and we will ask for Melissa as our server. I’m VERY much looking forward to trying their pizza!!!

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on Sunday because I was hungry for pizza. I remembered this place from driving by but neither had eaten here. It was 2:30pm so they weren’t too busy which was fine because we sat right down. We were quickly greeted by a very nice girl who would be our server.(Wish I remembered her name!) We ordered the spanakopita. My BF had never had it before. When it arrived she also brought out a little dish of Tzatziki sauce and said a lot of customers like to dip it and think it goes well together. Man was she right! I had never tried it like that before! YUM! We also ordered the Greek Pizza which was really good! I personally don’t care for black olives but he loves them. I just picked them off. No biggy. Overall everything was wonderful and we’ll definitely go back. Sorry, but I forgot to take pictures of the spanakopita.

Just had a take out for lunch today. I tried the Gyro and my husband tried the steak & cheese sub. Not very good. There’s signs advertising best gyro in town. Definitely not true. The steak had several flavors on it maybe because of not scrapping the grill after cooking or heating different meats. While my husband was waiting for our food there was a very unhappy customer due to having a tip automatically added in her bill. Sad part they didn’t have good service. They only had 2 people on the ticket.

The calamari was perfect and the gyros were delicious. Theee stars only because my husband got extremely sick from the steak sub, possibly norovirus :(

Popped in for take out for lunch for the family on a sunday. the dining room was packed with after church crowd. that got my attention. I gave my take out order to I think the owner who wasn’t overly happy to be there or so it seemed. 2 Gyros, 2 Chicken Gyros, 2 Fries and a Greek salad. It was ok. The service was ok, atmosphere was ok. Food was ok. Not a place I yearn to go back to but decent. Try it out! For Each their OWN!

In my opinion Athens has great food with below average service. The food never disappoints, but be prepared to wait a long time for your order and do not expect the owner to lift a finger to help out. My family and I have been going to Athens since it was located in Fairfield Shopping Center back in the 1980s. This place makes one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted. Their lasagna, grape leaves appetizer, and Greek salad are to die for. Recently, I went to Athens with my wife and the food was delicious. After eating, we went up to the counter to pay and the owner sat on a bar stool with his arms crossed no more than 5 feet away from the register. He glared at us and didn’t bother to stand up and ring us up… instead, he waited a couple minutes for his wife(who was in the back working her ass off) to come up front and check us out. I want to love Athens and support a local eatery with a good review, but I cannot do that when the owner is lazy and shows no appreciation for good paying/returning customers.

Food was ok, at least it was cheap. Server introduced herself to us twice, and when I said no we don’t need more time on the menu she walked away anyways. Really not a big deal, we all have those kind of days. But when she brings me a thin of used crayons for my kids and my son finds a pill in it? Kind of a big deal. She shrugged it off and said she’d figure it out. Didn’t do anything, went to pay and the manager asked how it all was and I told him about it and he had no clue what I was talking about. Pretty lousy

I’ve only been here a handle full of times and it’s not terrible my real issue is with the location it’s not very easy to get to in my opinion nor is it inviting from the street. Staff is nice and the food is decent it’s not a bad pizza place just inconvenient at the most.

I really needed a gyro the other day so I pulled out Unilocal and found my nearest greek restaurant. Well it was ok, the gyro came with nothing which was new to me, it was good I ate it but it was nothing special. I’m rating this place on gyros only really because it looked to be a nice pizza place but I couldn’t tell you how good there pizza is. I wouldn’t come in again but only cause I’m a gyro junkie and it doesn’t nothing special for me.

We decided to try this place out since it has been here for quite a long time. I figured that any restaurant that can stand its ground for such a long period of time is worth a try. I must say that I was not impressed at all! The food was not good at all! Eggplant and chicken parmesan was bland. Italian sub was overly salty and the pizza was just ok. The crust of the pizza was delicious however and I have not had one like it before. The only bright spot about this place is their homemade sauce. It’s something like a mix of ranch and caesar dressing but it is very good. I basically ate it with everything: pizza, sub, even the garlic bread. I very much doubt I will be coming here again.

Popped in here for a takeout pizza. We chose a half-and-half — veggie and Greek. It was good. Not great, but good. I don’t know if it was worth three times the price of a hot-and-ready from Little Caesar’s. Next time, I’ll try the gyro and eat in rather than take out.

Great small family business! Gyro Sandwich and Gyro Dinner were fresh and tasty and very affordable. Kids meals $ 3.25 — great. $ 3.25 Baklava and carrot cake were big enough for two to share. Great service as well. Will return.

Greek salad small: generous portion and excellent dressing. Pita chip appetizer was a big hit and the sauce has a nice little kick. Beef gyros are amazing. These are a must try, you won’t be disappointed. My 12 month old even loved the meat. Restaurant was pretty slow for dine in but busy with take out orders. Great service. Definitely will be back.

We love this neighborhood Greek eatery. Good service, friendly staff. Large Greek salad enough for our family of four. The tzatziki sauce is addicting. The beef gyros were filled with warm meat and the pitas were warmed perfectly. So satisfying, loved it. We will have to go back for the pizza soon, it’s been awhile.

Service was horrible, food was blan and boring, they defiantly need to dust and clean the restroom. I will never go back and would never recommend this to anyone I liked.

Athens is decent. The food won’t knock your socks off, but it’s good enough that, you’d want to stop by there again. In my handful of visits to this establishment, I can safely say that the Greek salad is a sure bet. Go with a couple of friends and share — they are pretty generous with the large portion. The house dressing is good — you can even use it on your pizza crust, if you wish. Which brings me to the pizza… they don’t call it Athens Pizza Restaurant for nothing. Get the pizza. I like the ½ Athens, ½ Greek pizza(because I’m fancy like that). You can find out what kind of toppings are available on their menu. I’ve also had their spaghetti(big generous portions — eat ½ there, and have the rest for lunch at work the next day) and I’ve also sampled a couple of calamari from a friend’s appetizer(fresh and out of the fryer). The only time I wasn’t satisfied with an order was the time I ordered a gyro. To my dismay, the meat was very dry. Even the tzatziki sauce couldn’t mask its dryness. And it was a beef gyro — not lamb(sigh). If they start using lamb in their gyros, maybe I’ll give them another star. Until then…

Meh. Limited menu. No hummus? We ordered the chicken gyro dinner and it was a lot of chicken, not enough pita bread to make a sandwich with. We asked for a few more and were charged an extra $ 2.50. They seem to upsell a lot of extras, like feta or olives, which seems silly. Add it to the dinner platter, don’t nickle and dime. Service was okay. Don’t think we’ll come back unless it’s as a last resort, as our experience wasn’t really memorable.

The food at Athens is ok. Based on past dining experiences here, I would have given the place just 2 stars. But based on today’s experience, their new and improved menu, and their great lunch deals, I give Athens 3 stars. My mom & I started our lunch off with the classic pita & tzatziki app. She had the chicken gyro wrap(tastes ok. The main negative is that all their gyro meat isn’t cooked on a spit, so it never tastes authentic to me.) My lunch, however, was a great deal — for $ 5.05, I had a personal sized Pita Pizza with feta cheese, mushrooms, & gyro meat! The base price for the lunch deal pizza is $ 3.75. Feta topping is 60 cents. Any other additional topping is 35 cents each. [See my pic.] I don’t LOVE pizza in general, but this one was tasty and a super good deal. I wouldn’t come here for dinner, but would definitely come back for their lunch specials! & I do also love the columns outside of the building. It gives the place a nice«Greece-y» ;) feeling.

My feelings on this is probably more like meh but I will go with an A-OK because I want places like this to do well. It just didn’t do it for us. We stopped in recently and had some pizza and a meatball sub and I doubt we’ll be back. The pizza was just not our thing. As another reviewer said, maybe the cheese is sharper or something. But, we didn’t care for it. The meatball sub was odd, as well. The meatball was more like sliced meatloaf rather than an actual meatball. It was decent but nothing that stood out. The only thing that was really good was our server. I wish I remembered her name but she was very friendly, good with the kids, and attentive to all of our needs. So, the service is probably what bumps our experience up a star. Overall, as I said, we won’t be back because there are too many other pizza places that we like better but maybe you will like it.
