Hendricks Home Furnishings

We have been going to Hendricks for many years. Their sales staff is knowledgable and friendly. Their furniture is displayed beautifully so one can visualize how it will look in their own home. There are lots of fabrics samples available if one wants to have furniture custom made.
I highly recommend this store!

We have bought a dozen pieces of furniture and bedding here since the early 90’s. our most recent purchase was in 2013. Jim Hendrick, the owner, took great care of us. He asked several questions to verify what we were asking to see was really what we wanted.
The prices are not cheap, but neither are their products. The first three times we bought there I did comparison pricing for the same items at other furniture stores and the Hendrick’s price was always the lowest.
Never had a bad experience. They offer a decorating service but we’ve never used it. I’ve never felt pressured to buy or decide on the spot. We often floor shop other stores but always end up buying at Hendrick’s.

I had heard the Springfield, IL commercials about Hendrick’s furniture on TV, so my husband and I drove over one Saturday early afternoon.
If you are not from this area, it isn’t very clear where to enter their building. The side entrance to the parking lot is the «main» entrance.
Upon entry there is no sales person to greet you, to tell you where things are, what you are looking for, or what sales they may or may not be having…
You have to navigate around yourself. We did see a counter with 2 woman standing discussing their weekends. They were friendly, said hello and went about their conversation.
First impression on this walk through: Outdated. They did put a few leather pieces up at the «main entrance» to fool you, but as you get further in, you recognize that some of the pieces look as if they are just blended w/​older ones.
A few pet peeves:
–We saw a total of 7 sales persons. 1 of them was with a couple, showing them carpet, and not any of the other 6 approached us, or bothered to ask if they could help. (2 ladies at one counter…2 guys at the other counter…2 on the floor)
–Hendrick’s wrote on several tags «SOLD», and left the furniture sitting on the floor. If I noticed it, it was numerous pieces. Does this mean I can not buy it? Then get it off of the sales floor!!! How annoying! It either showed lack of delivery on their part, or that the locals were taking advantage of storage.
–If you’re looking for a recliner, you might just find one here. They had more recliners than anything else. Recliners, upon recliners, upon recliners. Did I mention they had some recliners? :-)
–Outrageous prices for what was on the sales floor.
Hendrick’s needs to update their staff, purchasing, and building. It’s not working anymore. It’s a shame, because I prefer to buy local. :-/
