I went here for breakfast and for a pie Food(4⁄5): Waffle:(3⁄5) it was alright. The batter used was slightly sweet rather than savory. They didn’t give us butter, which took away from the dish. There is an option to add fresh fruit, which I really recommend or you’ll be getting an average waffle. Hash browns(4⁄5) These are in the shape of a McDonald’s hash brown, which gives you the feeling they just buy em and fry em. Nevertheless, I actually enjoyed these a lot. Strawberry Rhubarb Pie(5⁄5) I really don’t like pies, but this was really good! The crust was well made and had a nice balance of flavors with the insides. I would try this again! Service:(3.5÷5) Nothing special. I’m only rating it 3.5 because that’s around average. Environment:(5⁄5) A very cute cabin feel. This place gets really crowded sometimes and families seem to love it.

I got the Tug Boat and a cranberry juice for $ 13. Very expensive and the sandwich was very very small. The sandwich was fresh but the portions were way too small … I Would not rush back.

When I first went to the Black Dog Bakery, I assumed it would be a tourist trap with high prices and mediocre food. While this isn’t the best food in VH, it’s definitely really solid breakfast for a good price. My food came out quickly and piping hot, and for $ 6, my breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese was great. Will definitely be back a lot to this location.

I wanted to buy some cake to bring to work as a souvenir, and the lady at my hotel recommended this place and so I bought 4 mousse bombs. They were delicious and very popular!

This place was once very popular with my family. In the past year it has really gone down hill. It seems as though low quality ingredients are the rule now and no thought goes into each customer’s food. The service has become absolutely horrendous with rude staff taking orders. The tables are rarely cleaned off from previous customers and the bathrooms are unclean. The baked goods were once a highlight however now there are so many flies in the glass cases containing the baked goods that it’s a sure bet for food poisoning. When the fly population was pointed out to a manager she told the customer that the customer was just trying to start a fight! Low class, low standards, do your best to avoid this place that has lost its magic.

A 45 minute wait to get a lobster roll and a club sandwich to-go. I know you’re busy but that is a ridiculous wait for two very easy to make sandwiches. Never again.

For me these locations are too old school. Big unhealthy pastries, not really any GF or vegan items, no soy creamer, etc. But that’s ok as they cater to a different clientele. So if you aren’t in to new ways of eating and such, this place is great for you. They are all clean, cute and a Vineyard staple.

Went here just for a breakfast burrito, it wasn’t even busy but somehow took 30 minutes, worth it? I think not… If you like to wait for mediocre Sysco food than this place is for you!

We came here back in early May before the season really gets going. I have heard of the Black Dog and seen the shirts for many years. I wasn’t expecting anything special but they definitely seemed to be having some staffing issues the weekend we visited. The food was okay nothing great.

I flipped back and forth between 4 and 5 stars, but truth be told, the cookies alone are enough to give them 5 stars. We seriously came here 3 times in 2 days to get their cookies and once to have lunch. The clam chowder was really good as were the sweet potato fries. The chicken Caesar wrap was a bit too much Caesar and not enough lettuce, but the flavor was pretty good. If you just go there for their amazing cookies you will die content. So go now. You’re welcome.

Bland and under-toasted bagels for the breakfast sandwiches. Coffee is nothing special. Short Staff working on both occasions I’ve visited this week. And wifi doesn’t connect. At all. On either visit.

I am a seasonal islander since I was a child and now I am 50 this year. Going to the black dog has always been apart of our MV routine before getting on the ferry to go home. Today my family and I ordered our routine Woofer my son wanted his with ham but we were told that they didn’t have anymore, however we noticed sandwiches coming out with. Ok no problem 20 minutes later a unpleasant employee comes to us and say that they didn’t have the bread that we ordered with our woofer. Politely I stated that we had to catch the ferry and that if it would be much longer we would have to leave the unpleasant employee took our receipt crumbled it and rolled her eyes and walked to the back and proceeded to talk rudely about us. Which took another 10 minutes. By now we are asking for a refund. A very nice employee cam out and apologized for the wait and the attitudes and tried to give me a refund and the manager comes out worse than the first unhappy employee, never says one thing to us, never apologized for this unfortunate situation. When I asked if she could give us our cash and then they could figure out what was going on with the computer she rudely says«No» I let her know that I only had 15 minute before my boat would leave, she never looked up nor did she respond. Worst experience EVERRRR!!! But I’ll be back

This place is a homerun, and yet falls short for me in a few key areas. The baked goods — well, some like the dutch apple oatmeal pie is out of this world good. The donuts, eh, not so great. The lunch menu is decent with some good choices. The fish sandwich was very good, but I thought the fries were so-so, borderline not so great. The portions, though, were generous. Wait times can be long, too, depending on what you order and when you arrive. I couldn’t get Wifi to work on my phone, nor a great phone signal either. Nice café, and I like it overall. But it’s not«great»…

I ordered the Shenandoah Latte. Very good and delicious. It did require a packet of sugar but still yummy. I also ordered the egg, cheese and bacon bagel sandwich. Hot and full of flavor. The bakery is very busy so be prepared to wait in line and be patient. The staff is on it and gets everyone what they order in a timely manner. There is so much to choose from. Fresh baked bread, sandwiches, and amazing pastries. We will be back!

More like 3 ½ stars. Very popular café for both locals and visitors. We always stop by at least once whenever we visit the island. Limited seating so try and avoid peak dining hours. Good food although we were disappointed they ran out of their lobster roll special at 1:30pm on Memorial Day. Wait time for orders can be long, too(20+ minutes, especially if you order sweet potato fries which cost $ 1 extra). Baked goods are excellent.

If you are on the island and have a car and want to visit the Black Dog Bakery, either to grab one of their famous t-shirts OR because you have heard great things about the bakery AND you don’t want to deal with the craziness down by the ferry terminal, this is where you should be. The other great thing about this location, is that there is seating and they have some great options for breakfast or brunch and lunch. Although if it is the weekend and you are hoping to grab some lunch to take to the beach, you should still plan on heading over pretty early, as word has gotten out about their great soups, sandwiches and salads. Don’t forget to grab a cookie or brownie! It’s actually a spot that many locals hit(at least in the off season) because they DO make some great breads and treats, even if they wouldn’t be caught dead wearing one of the«tourist trap Ts» as my brother has called them.

This is my favorite black dog location. I like the baked goods and of course, the woofer egg sandwich. I look forward lazy breakfasts there reading the paper. It’s nice to not have as crazy a wait time for a table as exists at the other location.
