Heard great things about this place but it didn’t really live up to expectations. The setting is great — off the beaten path, pretty grounds. But our room was a little tired and could have used an update. The tv also didn’t work when we first arrived and it was tough to find a working outlet to charge our phones. The pool was constantly covered with some sort of vegetation(possibly pollen?) and we got booted out on a sunny day because it had been rented out for a party. We originally signed up for two dinners but ended up cancelling the second. The service was good and the food was fine but not worthy of the prices. I had the filet mignon which was overcooked and a baby green salad with a below average dressing. My friend had the salmon and mussel soup which were okay but not special. Tab before tax/tip with 4 glasses o wine was $ 137. The owners are very nice and staff are pleasant. I just think the place needs a reboot to bring it up to its potential.

I recently went to Lamberts Cove with my girlfriend this summer for dinner. I got a filet, and she got a lobster. We also got some apps which I don’t remember because they weren’t anything to remember. I went to this place about 7 years ago and it was outstanding. This go around was a disaster. My steak was ok, but for $ 40 it was terrible, sides were cold and not even really done right. The real disaster was the lobster, it was so overcooked and rubbery that it was probably the worst I’ve ever had. We had had lobsters a few days before steamed at the local fish market that were very good for $ 15.95. The Lobster at lamberts cove with a couple of again, cold sides, was $ 45. We were so hungry by the time the food arrived, we just ate it, because we had a babysitter watching the kids. Was supposed to be a nice dinner out, and it was just an expensive, dispappointing dinner out. The property is beautiful, but way off the beaten path. We commented on our disappointment for the lobster and the owner comped us a few deserts, which I got a crème brûlée and she got a chocolate cake. Both were terrible. The crème brûlée was clumped inside because they torched the top so thick that the top shell glaze was about a quarter inch thick. The cake seemed as if it was brought from a Sysco truck, maybe a higher end Sysco product. At the end of the day the place was a real disappointment, and probably will never go back again.

I really cannot say enough good things about this B&B. The house is beautifully decorated and the staff are warm and welcoming. The Inn is set far off the road, completely surrounded by nature so the setting could not be more peaceful. There is a beautiful pool area with spa, and there are gardens and farm animals. The on site restaurant is equally impeccable and was the culinary highlight of our vacation. There was even a piano player that completed the romantic setting. The owners Kell and Scott went out of their way to welcome us and attended to every detail. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a romantic get away this place is for you.

I terribly wanted to love this place after all the great things I read, and was hoping to find true farm to table food and a «foodie» experience. Sadly, not the case. We had to take a cab from the Marina in Edgartown as we were staying on a boat. I’d give it 4 stars for ambience, charm and the traditional antique romantic décor. The food was«meh». Nothing special, not served hot and honestly quite disappointing. Where was the flavor? Where was a manager checking on the dinner guests? I could have cooked a better dinner. Service was not spot on & we had to flag the severs down multiple times. They also don’t serve hard liquor. We often had to pour our own wine and water, and we had to request for dishes to be cleared multiple times. My appetizer was delivered and it was the wrong dish. Two of our guests ordered a Caesar salad to start and those not only lacked flavor, but the insanely over salted out of a can anchovies were inedible. Entrees were only so-so. Silverware wasn’t replaced, and when purchasing a second bottle of wine we weren’t offered new glasses which would have been the correct thing to do. So much for our grand foodie adventure. Sad to depart this jasmine scented evening wishing we ate somewhere else.

Leave your worries far behind you and wander down this long, meandering road deep into the woods of West Tisbury. You’ll be all set for your relaxing experience at the Lambert’s Cove Inn. This is one of the most beautiful inns we have ever been to on the East Coast. The fact that they offer one of the finest dining experiences on the Vineyard is an added plus for all island visitors. You do not need to stay here to appreciate the outstanding food at the inn’s gorgeous restaurant. The gardens and grounds are just beautiful, enhanced by the friendly goats and chickens.(Many islanders buy their eggs here at the inn.) Planning a wedding? They do it with flair and let’s just say that it really is picture perfect. Rooms have the best amenities including Wifi, ac and luxurious robes. Note that Wifi is not always easy to access on the island. You truly won’t need the ac except for a few muggy days in August. Vineyard air provides lovely sleeping opportunities, with its crisp, pollution-free cleanliness. Dinner here is amazing. Where do we go for special occasions, anniversaries and Valentine’s Day? We come to the Lambert’s Cove Inn. The menu changes with the seasons and features as much local produce as possible. The setting is charming and the service professional. This is a quiet place, and I recommend having a car for your visit as it is not in the middle of any type of town.(But now you can use Über on the island if you have no car… Very nice!) You can walk to Seth’s Pond or Lambert’s Cove Beach from the inn, but for other excursions a car helps. Note that the local public transportation system does drive by the inn’s driveway, but the schedule is pretty random on this route. The owners are super nice and make sure everyone has what they need. Love this place and so does my family.

The drive to this restaurant/inn is beautiful and part of the fun of going. We did not stay overnight, but just went to the restaurant and I was a little disappointed that the décor seemed like someone’s suburban home. The food is good and the wait staff is superb. Everyone was quite friendly and very attentive. I’m glad we went, but I’m not sure I would go back.

This is one of my favorite places on the entire island of Martha’s Vineyard. Actually in the whole world! Spend a long weekend here unwinding, visit their fine dining farm-to-table restaurant and walk the grounds. Meet the goats, Ava & Zsa Zsa, collect eggs for your own breakfast omelet and relax by the pool. Insider tip — walk to Ice House Pond and jump right in!

My husband and I recently spent a weekend with friends at Lambert’s Cove Inn. I can’t say enough about this place. The Inn and surrounding gardens were absolutely lovely. We were impressed with the attention to detail put into every aspect of the guest experience. The staff and owners were very friendly and gracious. We stayed in the Palm Beach Room and found it to be charming and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious(especially the warm scones). Ava and Zsa Zsa, the beautiful twin goats, were very sweet and entertaining. It was too cold for us to use the pool but the pool area was very serene and well maintained. I highly recommend Lambert’s Cove Inn.

Just a quick review of Lambert’s Cove in Restaurant. Three of us went to dine this past Saturday night(Aug 23)– we had called for reservations Friday but there was nothing available for Saturday eve but we asked them to call if a cancellation would open up a table for us and we got a call Saturday morning from the polite Jonathan saying indeed a reduction in one of their parties would allow for an extra table free for us. My friend Mark and I were divided between a hazelnut crusted Halibut on a bed of multicolored orzo with heirloom tomatoes from their own garden– or the pesto covered wild salmon with a potato pur’ee — so we decided to get both and splt them and each in its own way was excellent. I regret I forgot the name of the wine I ordered but it was I believe one of the super tuscany’s(a blend from local grapes in Tuscany– was also an excellent choice– a wine with enough body but smooth and considering we were eating fish — in some people’s minds a no no to not have a white– it was not too heavy a wine and both the salmon and halibut are a dense enough fish that for me it went perfectly fine– both dishes were prepared pleasing to look at and delicious to eat. I may have to edit this later as I can not recall what out third guest ordered at the moment but I remember so was pleased. We ordered a delicious scallop appetizer and I also got a wonderful fresh squash pureed soup and Mark got a pear bib salad that he thoroughly enjoyed. I will throw in my only small 1 of 2 complaints– the bread which I believe was a focaccia bread was pretty tasteless and reminded me of soda bread– no insult meant as this was the least important part of the meal and I love my bread but this was not a pleaser for me– I have to personalize it as I can not say it was made improperly– perhaps it was suppose to be just like that but for me the only unexceptional part of the meal. Lastly — I often skip deserts — I just do not usually find on the menu things that I am overly excited by and I already have a bit of a pot belly reminding me its ok to skip desert– but here at Lambert’s Cove I was tempted with several deserts including a delicious looking blueberry crumble that I think had a scoop of i-cream on top– I did not taste it but it looked scrumptious and a desert I very rarely order but gave into Saturday night was a delicious and perfectly prepared pecan pie– a wonderful crumbly crust and a luscious caramel like filling that hit the spot I wish the price had not been so high– we paid a «pretty penny» for dinner for 3 (over a 100/person with our wine) but everything was excellent — so if you are going to drop the big bucks-(admittedly a relative term here on the island– but for us it was high) at least at Lambert’s Cove in Restaurant you get an excellent meal all across the board. ITWASVERYVERYGOOD!

I have to say I was disappointed in our dinner here a few weeks ago. The atmosphere and ambiance is amazing, so I wanted to love it, but the food was just so-so and for the price, not nearly worth it. I got the fish(cod I think?) and it was so bland. My boyfriend got the chicken which was a bit better but not fantastic. The service was fine and the wine was too but it was all very overpriced. Too bad because the setting here is gorgeous!!!

This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, and this is coming from a Foodie who lives in the West Village of NYC. Before I get to the food I need to talk about the inn. Everything was just starting to bloom when I was there in early June. The landscape of the inn consisted of mostly fruit and vegetable plants. The owners, who were kind enough to give us a private tour of the grounds, explained their goal is to use the home grown produce in their recipes. They had a newly constructed chicken coup consisted of a few dozen chicken which provide the Inn with eggs for the restaurant’s breakfast dishes.(The owners even gave us a dozen eggs to take home after our meal!) There were also two baby goats that were only 4 weeks old, and they got along perfectly with Mavis, the resident miniature collie. The dining room for the Inn(as well as the Inn as a whole) is finely decorated, giving you a very at-home feel. Now for the meal I started out with the Baby Greens salad which I would absolutely recommend to all. It was very fresh and light tasting, the perfect salad for a summer menu. The others at my table all ordered the Caesar and let’s just say they were jealous of my decision. Our table also got an order of the scallops, which had great texture(not chewy) and definitely a safe bet. For the main course I shared the Baked Local Codfish and the Filet Mignon. Both the codfish and filet were delicious. But what really made the dishes were the accoutrements. The sautéed spaghetti squash that came with the codfish was so sweet and tasteful that I actually asked for some more on the side. That, along with the tomato relish, combined perfectly to give the dish a clean, healthy taste. The filet was cooked perfectly, and the port wine syrup was a great addition to give the filet a bolder taste. But my favorite part of this dish was the lyonnaise potatoes. They were charred just enough to give them some crunch and a hint of the burnt taste, yet not so much in that it still maintained the full potato taste. I wasn’t too impressed with the crème brûlée dessert. But everyone was happy to try that evenings special of apple pie and ice cream. We were told that the chef makes all pastries and desserts by hand(in addition to the ciabatta bread provided for all tables), and has constantly accepted the challenge of creating new items for the restaurant. All in all I was least impressed with the dessert. But that isn’t enough to take away a full star in my review. The service was great, the owners were so kind in taking the time to speak with us and show us around, and even to give us home crown eggs to leave with. I would absolutely recommend Lambert’s Cove.

Their 3 courses for $ 30 in the winter is a great deal! You get a lot of food, in a cosy romantic locations. Food was very good. Normal prices are a little high for my budget but alright for a special occasion. Note: West Tisbury Is NOLONGERDRY. You can buy wine(and can no longer bring your own as far as I know). Beautiful location.

Just lovely. I went with my family a few weeks ago. The hotel itself has lots of fun little knick knacks and things to play with — very designed. I had the duck with sausage and root vegetables. Very well done. The plating was excellent and the combination of succulent duck with spicy sausage and whole carrots that seemed to be organic was very good. My brother had the surf & turf, which was good and my sister in law had the truffle mac & cheese which was very rich and huge!

The seafood soup special wasn’t bad but was unremarkable. The surf and turf was mediocre at best. Perhaps because it was labor day weekend, and thus after the core season, they lost staff or something but the service was inexpert. Worse was the food. My, and everyone else at our table who ordered it, lobster came out somewhat cold and very, very dry. The steak was also dry and a bit cold. It wasn’t a great cut either but that is pretty much typical for the island for most places. I usually chalk up a bad a steak on the island to being a bar order, but that combined with the lobster was not acceptable. I thought this was all very strange given how empty the place was. You’d think they could execute at 35−40% capacity.

We really enjoyed our dinner here — the service was of a much higher standard than I was expecting, reminded me of some of the Michelin star restaurants we’ve eaten at. The food was pretty good, though the meats in our main entrees were tougher than I would have liked(I had surf and turf — steak and lobster, and my husband had the duck confit). I’d give the food 3.5, but service and overall experience 4.5, hence the overall 4 star rating. We also stayed at this B&B, which we DONOT recommend(see tripadvisor review).

This is for the restaurant only. I went for the first time this weekend as they were having a early season deal 3 courses for 30 so thought we would try it out. The atmosphere was wonderful. We sat in the room with the fire and it was so cozy and romantic. Service was great. I had a winter salad and my husband the butternut squash soup to start which both were superb. Cod wrapped in prosciutto was our main dish and it was good. The filet was a little on the small side but the risotto underneath was creamy and flavorful. Dessert was also perfect. It was a nice change. Not many restaurants are open yet and there was a great deal which my husband and I always like! Can’t beat food and atmosphere like that for that price!

What a wonderful evening! Recommended by fellow Unilocalers and our neighbor’s here in Chapel Hill. Had a wonderful Anniversary dinner. From the owner«Scott: and all support staff were, just perfect., a wonderful meal, ambiance and walk through the garden. My husband had the braised short ribs and I had the Karabuta Pork dish. both-perfectly served with a Napa Valley Pinot. Even better we took the local bus from Vineyard Haven, and walked the last ½ mile up the road to this beautiful little enclave in the woods. After the meal and desert, we were escorted to our waiting taxi we shared with another young couple from Boston. we were all so very sated and relaxed. Lambert’s is a beautiful little jewel with great ambiance and service.

This was absolutely the highlight of my dining experiences on Martha’s Vineyard! I count myself very fortunate to have met the young lady who suggested Lambert’s Cove Inn and Restaurant. The irony is that we met her while dining at another establishment and realizing my taste, she made this recommendation. Sometimes, going out on holiday weekends can be very tricky because venues know that they will be patronized no matter what. Often as a result, the care and quality is not the same. This was certainly not the case here. This was one of the best meals that I have ever had and with wonderful service. Everything was executed perfectly. To start, we had the Cauliflower Soup, garnished with House Purple Potato Chips, White Truffle Oil and Chive Blossoms. Absolutely devine. There was also a Spicy Tuna Roll that was offered as a special that evening that was also very memorable. For Entrée we had the Dry Rubbed Pork Tenderloin. This was served with Tasso Ham Pigeon Pea Ragout(a dream), White Bean Purée and Broccoli Rabe. The Pork Tenderloin was garnished with Wild Oregano and Roasted Pepper Butter. Absloutely Enchanting. We also had the Braised Beef Short Rib, with House Cut Pomme Frites, Sauteed Baby Spinach, Wild Mushoom Ragout, Pickled Ramps and Fried Fennel. Another superbly prepared and executed dish. Kudos to the Chef. I do hope our server extended our appreciation to him. This was absolutely worth getting off of the«beaten path» for. Frankly, with food like this I am surprised and thrilled that we were even able to get a reservation!

My wife and I stayed here over a weekend attending a friend’s wedding held there. So, the whole inn was taken over by the wedding guests, and we enjoyed perfect Fall weather during our October weekend stay. I read the other reviews and while this was my first time here and to MV, I have to say, we thought it was terrific. I don’t get all bent if the shampoo they provide isn’t ‘salon quality’ as a previous reviewer mentioned. The sheets and towels were fresh and fine. The place — inside and out, grounds, everywhere, is really first class. Good strong showers and plenty of hot water, by the way. Super clean and decorated like a magazine layout in every room I saw. To complain that’s it’s a dry town or far from town and nightlife is like, complaining that the ocean is salty. You didn’t know that before you went in??? This is a romantic hideaway, not a disco. Service was great, and this being a wedding, there was a bit of stress involved, yet the staff were very accommodating. Genuinely nice people. We had amazing appetizers after the wedding around the pool — amazing. Very lovely servers as well. Smoked oysters, salmon, trout… too many things to name really. Fantastic. The wedding had it’s own bar; as long as you BYOB it’s not a problem that they don’t serve. I’m told you can bring alcohol or wine to have with dinner and it’s not a problem for them to make drinks(but check on that). The formal wedding dinner was very good, but I’d had a few glasses of wine by then so I won’t pretend I was all that discriminating. But everyone seemed happy. Breakfasts were buffet, the usual eggs and stuff, all good. Didn’t check out the nearby beach, maybe next time. But it’s beautiful around there, towns and a variety of foods and amazing scenic fun little towns are only minutes away in several directions. We drove out to Menimsha(sp) for some authentic seafood in the little crab shacks out there, do it. Amazing food from such a tiny place(the indoor sit down place, not so memorable…). If you want a great escape weekend, quiet and privacy in a first class environment surrounded by nature at its finest, check it out.

I was a bit worried about this place being stuffy. I should have known that nothing on the Island seems to be that stuffy. We were seated in the Library. I loved, loved, loved eating there. There were so many interesting things hidden amongst the shelves. The books themselves were kind of a joke, Reader’s Digest and pulp novels along with the classics. There were small lamps interspersed on the shelves, adding some ambient light. My favorite lamp was a lamp of 3 monkeys, one covering his eyes, another his ears and the last covering his mouth. I don’t know why, but it just tickled me. There was a red plate on the wall, highlighted by a lamp with a red shade. It really glowed with irridescent color and seemed to have a glow about it. From my angle, it was beautiful. Our waitress was fantastic. She was honest about the food quality and was not afraid to offer recommendations. We ordered a scallop appetizer. It had truffled cauliflower purée and smoked chorizo on the scallops. The cauliflower was so light and fluffy it was almost custardy. The smoked chorizo really added a flavor punch to the scallops. We also ordered the stuffed zucchini flower appetizer. The blossoms were stuffed with cod and were served with some tempura battered miniature zucchini. They were good but the flavor I expected didn’t come through. The cod didn’t have much flavor. Some lemon or even a pesto would have brought out the sweetness of the dish. Deb ordered the bouillabaise(sp?). It had pieces of fish, some mussels, some clams, and shrimp. I had a mussel and it was delicious. The broth was delightfully light. There were two grilled breads that were served with the dish. They appeared to have a tomato spread on them. I didn’t try them, but they looked ok. She would dip them into the broth. Jeff took a chance on the veal cheeks. Yes, some poor baby cow gave his life so that Jeff could eat his cheeks. They were delicious! That cow did not die in vain! They were tender and fell apart with just a fork. The flavor was deep yet not greasy, though they did have a different mouth-feel than I had anticipated. It was served with a rice dish that had corn and a few other vegetables in it. I ordered the sea bass. It was served with a bamboo rice side. I have no idea what that means, but it was bright green and had a nice flavor. It reminded me a bit of risotto. There was a ginger carrot sauce surrounding the fish and the rice. It didn’t have much of any flavor, but it was pretty. The whole dish was super light and the flavors were subtle, maybe a bit too much. This would have been a better lunch entrée than dinner entrée. Even a bit more salt would have been good. The bread that was served was excellent. It had a light crust and a soft inside. The whipped butter was just a little too warm, so it didn’t hold its shape too much. We split a peach crisp for dinner. It had a vanilla bean ice cream that was rich in flavor. You could taste the fat in it, a sign of deliciousness for sure! The crisp part of the crisp was sweet and crunchy. A cup full of that and the ice cream would have been enough. Underneath all of this were fresh peaches. They were a bit too hard for Jeff, but I found them perfect, as they gave a different kind of crunch from the topping. If they had been softer, like a cobbler, they wouldn’t have stood out from the other accents of the dish. I could have just eaten this dessert and have been happy. I loved the lobby, especially the room that is red. It just struck me as homey and formal, at the same time. There was another room that was blue, but I didn’t feel nearly as comfortable in there. It reminded me of an office more than a den. The bathrooms were both tiny. They reminded me of airplane bathrooms, especially the strong smell from the reed diffusers. That much concentrated scent in a small space is overpowering. The main dining room is beautiful and offers a spectacular view. There was a piano player in the corner. I recognized some music from Billy Joel and the Beatles. He was playing perfectly, not too loud nor too soft. All in all, a wonderful experience. The atmosphere makes up for the general lack of any strong seasoning in the food. Our waitress also made our dinner easy. We had had some spotty service on the island, so it was refreshing that my last meal was this memorable. Explore the grounds, they are beautiful. The place is tucked away in the hills, so it can be a challenge to find.
