Great authentic Puerto Rican food and the frituras were amazing. Enjoyed eating there with my family and the owners were very nice! Thank you papi!

This place is off the hook! I work in vineland a few days a week and always make sure to skip breakfast so I can come hungry to penalverts. As others have pointed out, the pastellilos are fantastic, with the buffalo chicken and cheesesteak being my favorites — I always get 2 with my meal, and have even bought them by the tray to take to parties(always a hit). But that’s not the best part… The homemade specials in the hot case are the big draw, where the pernil(pork — like carnitas) is to die for. Get yourself a medium over yellow rice and your day just got better. I’ve also had the chicken stew and spicy steak, both are also favorites… I usually just alternate as I’m there so much I rarely miss a special. There’s also traditional Puerto rican street foods available to go if your not in the mood for a meal. Another big plus — they accept credit/debit cards, ensuring you a meal regardless of what’s in your wallet. Don’t miss this place… I heard about it by word of mouth now its my turn to spread the love.

Yes what you have heard is true! This is def a hidden gem in Vineland. I have only discovered this place a few years ago but it has been here for quite sometime. The pastillios are beyond words and I have had a few in my day. Always fresh, crispy flaky crust and juciy inside. Everything Ive had here has been muy muy bien. Pernil, chicken, steak, whatever, its all good and never had any complaints. The staff is always the same obviously bc they are a family and always pleasant. The best part is, it’s very affordable. Today I got a small baked chic w/rice, a «real» mexican taco w/cheese and 2 pastillios for only $ 7.45! Try the cheesesteak pastillios, but you’d better buy two or you’ll be right back.

OMG, how I miss their cheesesteak pastillios. I used to buy 2 and eat them in the car so i didn’t have to share with my kids… does that make me a bad mother? I don’t think so, look at all those calories I saved my kids from eating! It’s a 50 miles drive now, but I’m jonesing for the beef and potatoes over rice and those addicting pastillios. Let’s not forget the rice and beans! I’ll never be albe to sleep tonight for thinking of that flaky crust, the tender meat, the delicious melted cheese, the grease running down my arm… Mmmmm!

i agree with this place it is a really good place to make a quick stop for some good food. however the only reason as a local i don’t go is because they are a little more expensive than the other places. they have been there since i was around 8 years old and it will always be a icon of vineland. just wish i didn’t have to dig into my pocket for quarters. lol… hey if your passing pay and have a little hunger and they are open stop by you wont regret it… just make sure you are carrying change. lol

This is an awesome little Spanish food place. You can get a decent sized box of rice for a dollar, and for a couple more dollars you can get an even bigger box full of stuff I can’t pronounce, let alone spell. Penalverts is a very tiny takeout only place. Since it’s a mom and pop(probably grandmom and grandpop too!) shop, the food is totally homemade and so great. I’m a white girl that loves me some homemade spanish rice and this place hits the spot every time.
