This place has gotten some bad reviews lately, so I decided it was time to update my review after we went there for our Valentine’s date on Friday night.(We had to go then because they told us they wouldn’t be open on Valentine’s Day itself, which we thought was kind of odd.) Overall, this is still a very nice place to eat, but I feel like things have slipped somewhat since the first time we visited four years ago, and it’s getting harder to justify the cost. The difference for me is in the service level rather than food quality. For instance, both the appetizer and the entrée I ordered the first time were out, and they told me about each separately after taking my order, so I twice had to get the menu back and figure out what else I wanted. I ended up with the baked oysters and the hawaiian shrimp. The baked oysters were a sort of variation on oysters rockefeller, and they had a really nice presentation in the shells with lots of big chunks of rock salt on the plate. The hawaiian shrimp was served in a pineapple boat. I don’t usually order an entrée that flamboyant, but it was actually pretty fun and tasted good. Meanwhile, my husband had the kobe beef meatballs and the angus steak special. He thought both were excellent. When he’d asked the waitress how much the special cost, she said she thought it was $ 38, but when we got the bill, it was actually $ 45. Not a huge deal, but it’s better when the wait staff gets that kind of detail right. As I said, this is still a nice place to eat, but so are Spats and Buckley House, and since those places are a little bit less expensive, we might be choosing them more often in the future.

Where to begin… DONTEATHERE! This may be fine dining if you haven’t eaten anywhere other than your garage. Our waitress quit before taking our orders and no one at the establishment informed us! After waiting 45 minutes with only drink refills I approached the owner who told us of situation and that an additional worker was coming in, owner refused to take our orders said it wasn’t her JOB!!! Dinner then took over an hour to be prepared and several of the entrees had ran out. The owner didn’t inform us that they were no longer available until some of our courses were being served. Half the group ate while the rest waited. Add to this that there«World Famous» sauces come from GFS and you would be doing yourself a favor by avoiding whole experience. To ensure that they got a terrible review the owner then refused to adjust bill for 3 hour meal time, disappearing staff and missing entrees. Bill was over $ 1000 and not even a single apology. HORRENDOUS! I am reporting this establishment to the Better Business Bureau. I wish zero stars were an option…

Still bad service and management is still keeping the servers tips which is completely not ethical at all no wonder they can’t keep any staff there.

Lui lui is one of the pricier places to eat in town but it certainly has the best quality and service to back it up. We love going for special occasions. The steak with chocolate sauce is the best!

We have been there twice and both times the food was excellent and the service outstanding. We always like to sample and split dishes to try more. Have not had anything bad yet. A half price wine night may get more people in on week nights. This is a gem
