Thought I would check this place out after reading some good reviews. I am of Italian descent and know very good Pizza. Fred { owner} is a great guy and we spoke in depth about REAL Italian Pizza and the difference in what people think is Italian Pizza. It is all in the ingredients ! and of course the oven. This place has it all,; fantastic fresh ingredients, great dough and the imported oven from Italy. Excellent Pizza. Must try it if you want authentic !! John Alfieri

Since this place has opened I have heard mixed to negative reviews on this place. So randomly I chose today to test out the place for myself. The negative comments I have heard about his place are not because the food is super bad. It is the fact that the general concept of the restaurant is NOT geared toward ensuring the paying customer is satisfied with the food that is ordered. Being told flat out NO I cant add or switch out a topping for another due to the fact of its«just not an option,» is absolutely absurd to hear. There are so many other great pizza places that not only offer customized pizza for the busy lunch business crowd, there is NO reason to waste ones hard earned money here. Taco bell is a few doors down, I would rather eat there(taking into account the questionable meat served there too) if it came down to a choice between the two. There are a TON of other food options in the Tysons Corner area and I will surely choose somewhere, anywhere, else to eat.

This place is all about quality! I use the quattro formaggi(4 cheese pizza) as a litmus test for pizzerias and this place did not disappoint. The quality of the ingredients were outstanding and the flavors on the pizza were perfectly balanced. I did find that the fresh mozzarella still had a bit too much liquid because extra liquid came out when cutting with a fork and over time, the dough got a little soft in the middle. This isn’t uncommon when using fresh mozzarella however, but something I did want to pass along to them. The serving size was quite large and made it very competitively priced in my opinion. I could only eat half of the personal pizza. I did also appreciate the«happy hour» pricing(3.00 off any pizza from 3 – 6). Oh, and I was absolutely shocked that I did not have to ask for any salt for the crust. This is a huge huge huge compliment to them. I am very particular about my food being well-seasoned and breads and crusts are some of the worst offenders for not being properly seasoned in restaurants. Well done chef, well done.

Finally made it here after a buddy recommended it. In short. Boom! Finally a true Italian restaurant. No frills, no spills just good food. You walk up and order your meal and it is out in minutes. Staff is super friendly and the food is Italian casual food with a very sophisticated twist. The spinach and fennel salad is truly amazing and the Margarita pizza is something to behold. What we are scared of is that the food might be too Italian for some folks but for those who like it as true to Italian as possible then look no further. We love this place! Congrats Crust on an affordable modern true Italian spot for us to enjoy.

My head said gym but my heart said margarita pizza! All i have to say is this place is the best Napoletana pizzeria, tried different places to find decent margarita pizza but nothing compare to the margarita pizza this place makes. best service friendly staff and spotless pizzeria i have visited in this area… if your taste buds are used to thick rubbery pizza then i suggest you should not try Crust! because not everyone has good taste.

I have been here twice now. I really, really want to like this and hope it’s as good as Pupatella. But I just couldn’t. First time I ordered the Margherita and the second time I got Diavola. The pizza size is definitely much bigger than Pupatella. The crust is a little bit thicker also. The ingredients are fresh. I think the sauce is where Crust is lacking. The place is nice and has few large TVs for viewing. Even though it’s much nearer to my house, I will still venture down to Arlington for Pupatella.

Paid $ 13 with a 10% early bird discount for a Margherita pizza. I didn’t finish it because of how much plain, tasteless dough there was. I wasn’t impressed with the amount of non-dough food or the taste. The cheese tasted fresh, but the sauce was quite bland and runny. Even if it’s authentic Italian-style, it’s not worth the money to me. I’d rather go to Joe’s in Vienna for pizza.

I can’t believe I waited so long to try Crust. I brought a group with me last night. We have all lived in Naples and every one of us was impressed. I felt like I was back. My pizza had melanzane and parmigiana which was delightful. The location was great, and parking was easy. I didn’t even have to pay a Euro for some vigilante to watch my car. We will definitely be back. Complimenti!

This place is my favorite pizza place in northern Virginia. Forget Pupatella and their long lines, this place is just as good if not better. I’ve tried a few of their different pizza types and I love them. Fresh ingredients, not too light or tough baked crust, and just the right amount of heat from the oven that bakes the cheese and toppings perfectly. In addition, there is the Crust pizza which is a half margherita pizza and half ham calzone. The calzone has a good mixture of cheese and ham so that neither overpowers the calzone. And there’s an arugula salad that comes with the dish that compliments the both the calzone and pizza nicely. I typically it add to the pizza and eat it as a stand alone dish. The service here is also super fast. I typically can crank out a pizza in 5 to 7 minutes after ordering it even during high traffic times.

Forget about Washingtonian magazine’s favorite(wood oven) Neapolitan pizza restaurants Pupatella(Arlington, VA) and Pizza Orzo(Falls Church, VA). Both those places can’t hold a candle to Crust. Crust has the best genuine Neapolitan pizza in the area. The chef is from Italy and he makes a mighty fine pizza. The owner(Fred) is very nice and very friendly(and is usually working behind the counter) and he knows how to provide great customer service. My two favorite pizzas are the Margherita Classica and the Capricciosa. The tiramisu and dark chocolate mousse are my two favorite deserts. My prediction is once the word gets around about Crust, it will be listed as the #1 Neopolitian pizza in Washingtonian magazine. Can’t go wrong with this place.

I am not a huge pizza fan when it comes to American styled pizza… but I love a wood-fired oven pizza, and Crust has given me a passion for quality Neapolitan pizza. The restaurant itself is very open, spacious, and trendy… but still down to earth and laid back in feel. The staff is jovial and very friendly/helpful. The menu ranges from basic pizza to lesser known Neapolitan styles eats. Pizza phenomenal in quality and the sauce is perfectly balanced in sweet and tang and salt. The seafood salad and arancino are on point! Well worth the very affordable cost. The wine and beer is also delicious with much of it sourced from Italy.

The pizza here is pretty good! Crust offers thinner pizzas, and there is a decent variety of vegetarian and meat options. There are also some appetizers and desserts available. When you walk in, you’ll see several tables for individual parties as well as a communal table. There are a few TVs on the wall to watch the news or sports, and there are sweet portraits of famous Italians. You walk toward the back to the counter and order there. The people working here are nice and friendly! You can look at the menu at the counter as well as specials for the day. I like the margherita and the bruschetta. The bruschetta has awesome tomatoes on top. The pizzas, every time I’ve had them, were cooked well and super filling. I’ve even had a slice or two to take home; they do keep pretty well to the next day for snacking. Overall, the place is large and clean. You can sit and relax for a while, eat some pizza, and get a drink. I’ve tried the tiramisu — I’d say it’s a pass because it was too powdery on top with cocoa powder. It was hard to eat. I see some people’s reviews mention the pizza is pricey. If you’re coming for lunch, spending $ 15 may be high for some, but I think the area makes the cost alright. On the other hand, if you come for dinner, $ 15 may seem cheap. They also have happy hour! I was also surprised to see panuozzo on the menu. That’s a traditional Italian dish, but it is HUGE. I also thought it should have been called panzerotti instead — panuozzo are more like a sandwich, whereas panzerotti are basically calzones but fried. Bottom line: if you’re in the mood for simple and traditional Italian favorites, this is a good pizza place to try out. It’s casual, and you’re bound to find something to enjoy!

So my family is from Abruzzo and my co-worker is actually from Naples. Crust is a good option if you are feeling semi-authentica. It isn’t exactly like Napolitano pizza(I would suggest 2 Amy’s or Pupatella) but it is similar. They do make the sauce from scratch but sometimes they do overload the pizza with sauce. The dough and crust is pretty good, but obviously due to the firewood burning oven. I also think they overcharge a bit, and the salad is so expensive but you get nothing. I think it’s decent for pizza I the Tysons area but I’d drive the extra 20 minutes to Arlington to eat at Pupatella.

I found these guys whenever I was at the Sheraton for the weekend for a convention. I didn’t have a lot of time and was absolutely starving! So of course he shows me your normal cardboard pizza places and that just wasn’t good enough. So whenever I saw this i was like Yum so I give them a call and they tell me that pizza can be ready in 3 to 5 minutes! I got the margherita and the Quattro Formaggi with garlic, onions and meatballs all I can say is it the entire time I was driving back to the hotel my mouth was watering LOL! The crust was absolutely phenomenal had that nice break I’ve been lacking flavor but it’s not Bert, it cooks nice and fast and it’s crispy but it still soft inside and it just melts in your mouth and the cheese is so soft stringy and gooey and just makes you feel like you’re in heaven! When actually you should be in the gym haha! My only complaint is that there quite a bit far for me living in Springfield but if I’m ever at the mall doing any binge shopping which I never do wink wink I can see myself driving that on my way home for the family! LOVEIT!!!

Most others in the comments are raving about this pizza but it wasn’t that good to me. Maybe it could be that I like New York style pizza more and that I don’t like much sauce on my pizza. The toppings were not uniform on the pizza and the middle seemed as though it was undercooked. The price was good for the size of pizza I got but it could get expensive if more toppings are added.

Three years ago we lived for several months in Italy, and developed a taste for real pizza, especially Neapolitan pizza. It’s such a treat find the real thing here in the Tyson’s area: the chef is himself from Naples, he uses the proper 00 flour and San Marzano tomatoes, and makes a right tasty pizza! We will be regulars here — Auguri!

So my best friend/roommate is from Venice, Italy. We are always looking for good pizza which is hard to find. She told me she met some Southern Italian guys who work at a pizzeria and we should go. Turns out it is this place! Of which I have had my eye on for a while. Crust is literally a mile from where me and her moved to. I was tad hesitant because there are some bad reviews here but the people writing those reviews sounded like they didn’t know anything about pizza. I have no idea why there is even one bad review. This place is so delicious!!! We went today and had a margarita, Italia, croquettes, and tiramisu. People say it is expensive, it isn’t! Okay maybe compared to Papa Johns but seriously really??? Go eat papa johns and more Crust for me. I can’t wait to bring more people here! My Italian friend obviously loved it here so there you have it, not New York Italian which isn’t the same thing FYI! If they serve Alfredo it isn’t Italian… eat at crust and learn a few things about Italy!

It’s always great seeing another neapolitan place near DC, especially clustered around Tysons Corner where we’re starting to(finally) see more indie food spots. I had the Quattro Formaggi, which is something I almost always order at any pizza place just to have a consistent standard for comparison. The pizza pricing was on par with neighboring(ish) Pazzo Pomodoro, but without the sit-down service, which means Crust caters to a slightly different and arguably much more casual crowd. The cheeses were all fresh, and the décor was simple and understated. Service was prompt… I honestly have no complaints about any of it. I was about to dock a star for not having a fountain, but apparently Crust’s policy is to give a free bottled soda with any pizza ordered, so I can’t really complain about that either. Five stars for food.

If ever there was pizza that tasted like boogers and c*m, this is it! If you are going to be called Crust, then your crust should be THE best. I can say this was THEWORST crust ever! The sauce tasted like a can of tomatoes was dumped on it without being drained. Soggy crust, wet sauce, rubbery pepperoni puts this pizza below the bottom of my list! I don’t know how anyone could be happy when the toppings just slide off your pizza. THEWORST! On top of the worst pizza ever, the service was terrible and seemingly inconvenienced by everything! One star, no stars, who cares? I can’t imagine how this place even survived its first day open.

5 stars for pizza and service. Pizza was delicious with good texture and flavor. The calzone was undercooked and cool on the inside, but the manager checked in with us shortly after the food was provided and offered to correct it. Calzones can be tough to time, so I won’t hold that against them. Unfortunately, we were in a bit of a rush, so instead he was kind enough to provide us some cannoli, which were excellent. Also, the cappuccino was fluffy and delicious.

Pizza was great, but service was lame. I walked up to the counter twice to ask for something and the guy ignored me. I don’t mind $ 50 for two small pizzas and one glass of wine for my wife and I, but I expect that I’d get some service along with that. You order up at the counter and pay the tab right away… I don’t like to have to tip someone before I’m served, I gave them a generous tip anyhow, and then someone who didn’t speak english placed the pizza on our table and left. sigh. I had such high hopes. That being said, the pizza was really good. best pizza I’ve had since I was in CT this summer. I’ll go back to see if they fix the service, but I’ll leave the tip on the table after I eat. My advice is hire some waiters and earn your 20% tip.

Had a friend visiting from out of town for the NYE weekend so I wanted to take her someplace great and local. This restaurant popped up on Unilocal as it was not too far from where I live. I was excited to try this place out as it promised fresh, authentic pizzas. After ordering the Margherita Classica($ 13) and a custom one(I think it was just pepperoni or pepperoni and sausage, ~$ 14 – 15), I was sorely disappointed. All the toppings slid right off the dough as soon as there was any movement. I had to place all the toppings — cheese included — back on my pizza after trying to carefully transfer it from the pan to my plate. This little annoyance aside, both pizzas tasted super undercooked, from both the dough and toppings. You may have fresh ingredients, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be cooked as they are intended to be. Flavors were mediocre, nothing special. I’m pretty sure this is not what«authentic Neapolitan pizza» should taste like and was very disappointed in my visit. Definitely would not recommend.

I was actually the first person to eat here by complete accident. It was their grand opening day and I had no idea, so when I walked into this new restaurant at 11:15am that day and asked«When did this place open?», I was surprised to hear them say«Today!» But anyway, nobody else cares about my life. The important thing is that the pizza here is absolutely delicious. Maybe the best I’ve ever had, including when I was in Italy this summer. The pizza chefs were brought straight over from Naples and barely speak English, so you know they make some authentic stuff. I haven’t tried the other foods or desserts, but I’ve tried about seven different flavors of pizza here, and they were all flawless. As an additional benefit, each pizza only takes a minute or two to make using their enormous oven. Highly recommended.

Coming off the heals of my naples pizza experience, I was scared to try this place. But, just because I was having an eat, pray, love moment, I decided to give Crust a try. I’m so happy I stopped. The pizza is likely as close as I’ll ever get to my naples Margherita! It was yummy! They are almost there with the perfect Napoli crust! Sevice was great too! I’m almost certain to return… the only issue is that it’s pretty expensive. But, I won’t let that get in the way of my next escape to Napoli! Give it a chance if you’re in tysons.

The crust is perfect. I could just eat the crust all day. I don’t even need toppings. I haven’t had pizza this good in months and I’m not even a fan of Neapolitan pizza. If you like pizza and you’re in the Tysons area you gotta try it. Worse case, you don’t like you go to Alborz next door and get some delicious Persian kabob. Win-win. I should also mention the Nutella pizza which will give you diabetes but it’s a great dessert to share with a party of +4.

Some seriously good Neapolitan pizza(: 10⁄10 would recommend! Came in with my dad the other day, and we shared a pizza Margherita — pizza made with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, basil, and olive oil. The dough of the pizza was just right — soft and tender and not too chewy. All the ingredients tasted extremely fresh and made the pizza really flavorful. I liked how the pizza didn’t taste or get soggy, which I encountered with a few other Neapolitan pizza’s at other restaurants. The pizza was warm, delectable, and just enough to share for two, and we also ordered tiramisu for dessert. Their desserts are homemade as well — and the tiramisu was very light and tasty. Overall, the staff was extremely nice and accommodating, and the pizza was delicious! Definitely will be back to try their other pizzas!

I tried the pizza here as soon as the establishment opened up for business. Inside it’s spacious with plenty of seating. There is very limited parking in front, but plenty of parking behind the building. As the name suggests the eats are more consistent with Neapolitan-style pizza that one might be familiar with. The pizzas are offered in a variety of ways with standard toppings, but I always ask for a pizza margherita with pepperoni, sausage and basil. While the sauce and toppings stand on their own, it’s the crust that makes this pizza rather outstanding. I think the owner might be Persian and so perhaps the crust is influenced by his heritage. The crust reminds me of the bread you might encounter in a kabobs establishment. The pizzas come in one size and might be shared by two people, but I’m usually ravenous by the time I get there so I have one all to myself! I’ve read other Unilocalers complain about price, but I find good value for the money here since they started including a free bottle of soda with each pizza. It’s conveniently located near my office so I try to frequent as much as I can. I’ve had team luncheons there and everyone has had positive comments about the pizza. The staff are very friendly and service is really efficient with pizzas on your table within 10 minutes of ordering. I wish they would open a location near my digs, but until then I’ll keep visiting this location.

I can’t complain about the food. The pizzas were exactly what I’d expect from a neapolitan-style pie; soft and doughy crust and fresh toppings. The arancino zafferano con raju was cooked just right. The tomato sauce was very flavorful and the risotto balls were just the right texture with a good taste. This was my first time trying neapolitan pizza, so I can’t speak to the authenticity. Pricing was kind of high. They don’t have a soda fountain, and $ 2.75 for a 20oz bottle of soda is highway robbery. The menu doesn’t have a list of toppings, and when I subbed one vegetable for another(so no actual addition of toppings), I got charged $ 1 extra.
