Food was lacking flavor. The rice and noodles had no taste. Meat was chuey and the staff was rude. I will not eat there again. I visit my kids that live in Hesperia once a month and try different places, this will be the last time there.

We order a couple item which weren’t so good best dish we got was the rice it was very good but other items didn’t have much flavor. I doubt I would go back and try new items.

Delicious food. Great for delivery. They actually give you a decent amount of food. Quite a bit actually. The ONLY reason I’m not giving 5 stars, is because I wish the orange chicken was more crispy. That said, awesome food and service!

Best sweet and sour soup and combination fried rice in town! Can’t really speak for anything else On the menu because that’s all I ever order from there.

Ok I do love the food here. Some days may be better than others just as anywhere else, but House of Joy is by far one of the best Chinese food restaurants up in the HD.

Definitely not the worst, but just not quite right. In really wanted to like this place, because it’s so close to my home, but it just didn’t make an impression on me. I got my Orange Chicken served on top of shredded lettuce… I thought that was really weird. It served no real purpose other than to become a hot, soggy mess. I believe its purpose was supposed to be garnishment. I think they would have achieved a better result had they used a vegetable, maybe broccoli. Also, the Orange Chicken was a little too vinegar-y, and garlic-y. Not much, but noticeable. What I did like about House of Joy, was how they expeditiously served tea and chow mein crisps as soon as we arrived to the table, and their service was awesome. Finally, their price point is the best in town. I paid $ 6.75 for the lunch special.

Great experience. We were seated immediately and drinks arrived quickly! The waitress was patient waiting for us to decide on our order. It’s quite and relaxing. Great options for food ranging from light options to hearty plates. Regardless of who your server is, if staff notices your cup is empty they fill it. Amazing service!

This is my go-to spot when in the High Desert. A real hidden gem! It’s a bit off the freeway, almost in the middle of nowhere. But they serve up some serious cooking here. some of the best sushi rolls, Americanized Chinese food and authentic Korean that I’ve had. Their sushi rolls are massive and stuffed with flavor, and at reasonable prices. Their Peking and HOJ chickens are so rich and flavorful, every bite makes taste buds siiiing. HOJ beef is amazing too. Sweet and sour pork and orange chicken are great here as well. From their authentic Korean menu, their spicy beef noodle soup is delicious. From the street, you’d look at the building and think no way. But inside décor is updated, warm and comfortable, a great place for families. Service is a lot better than some say. Every time I’ve visited, their family went out of their way to make sure we have a great meal. Seriously, if you enjoy your Chinese food sweet, spicy and oh so flavorful, House of Joy is a must try. 4.5 stars.

Great food, great service and each order was enough to feed at least 2 – 3 people! We will be back!

Best chinese food in the area, though their brown sauce can be a bit heavy. This is where I get my veggie hit out here. Their lunch specials are more than reasonable. I have asked for lighter sauce before on their brown sauce items. They are very accommodating! Dont miss out on their Korean menu! I always get something from this menu.

Service is pretty speedy. Sushi is great and not a long wait for it to be made. A small bowl of soup can feed a couple people for sure. The food was fast and tempid hot. Only complaint was the use of A LOT of garlic and we love garlic. Took over the taste of the dish and made it hard to enjoy any other flavor besides garlic.

If you are looking for real Chinese food, this is not the place. Food was covered in gloppy sauces and the flavors(bland) are distinctly Korean. As a Chinese aficionado, I would rather stop at the Panda Express than come back here.

I have to laugh at some reviews on Unilocal when they will say«not bad for a restaurant in the High Desert.» What does that mean? You would think that we are all dining on rattle snake stew or something. Get over yourselves people. The House of Joy hit the spot. First time here I had food delivered and it was packaged nicely, brought to my door hot by a well dressed delivery guy. Food was quite tasty and delivered in their own delivery cartons. Chicken was well flavored with Bak Choi and green onion and the white rice was fresh and the portions were good size. I’ll order again and my next visit I’ll pay a visit to dine in. Not bad for the High Desert, What ever that means. LOL

Was craving«real» Chinese food… Not panda. Called in an order, friendly service. It was ready & waiting on my arrival. Ordered mu shu, bbq pork fried rice, sweet & sour pork, chow mein, orange chicken. Loved it all with the exception of the orange chicken-tiny chewy pieces not chunks of chicken. I would definitely recommend this place & I will be back. As a side note — I didn’t eat in the dining room, but it seemed terribly bright! Not a relaxing type of dining room.

5 stars because House of Joy is the most improved restaurant in the high desert. They upgraded and got new menus-the thick black binder kind that feels like leather, which may not mean much, but if you consider 90% of restaurants in the HD area use homemade laminated paper menus that have sticky soda stains on them, then comparatively, the menus here are fancy and high class. And it’s nice to open a thick heavy binder menu, because it makes you feel like you’re in a real restaurant, like how it normally is «down the hill.» There’s 2 different menus: big one for Chinese food; narrow one for Korean food, like sulungtang etc. You may need to specify you want the Korean menu, if that’s what you want. Food has also improved. Korean style Chinese items like jajangmyun and jampong tastes much better now. They also thinly slice the meat in sulungtang so it looks like how it supposed to look. The Korean side of the menu has much improved so we end up coming here more often. The Chinese side of the menu is still a little bit sugary and sweet for our taste, which is typical for the HD area, but it’s not as bad as before. A year ago, the Mongolian beef(chungpa sogogi) was basically pure sugar, but they seem to have cut back on the sugar, so now it tastes like what it supposed to taste like. But overall, you’re going to find Asian food in the high desert a lot more sugar-sweet and less ethnic/authentic than restaurants«down the hill» in Los Angeles and Orange County. Service is okay but it’s very slow. They usually have 2 people in front. One acts as cashier/hostess/waitress, and the other is sushi chef/cashier/host/waiter. This means if somebody orders sushi, it becomes one server for the whole restaurant, because the other one is making sushi. Why they still bother with sushi, I don’t know, because it’s terrible here. But if you like Korean style Chinese food, like tang-sook-yook(Mandarine style clear sauce sweet and sour beef) and Korean hot pot soups, House of Joy is the only option in the Victor Valley High Desert area, which is way better than having no option at all.
