This is my first Hastings visit and let me say this place carries so much stuff! They have tons of merchandise of all kinds! I saw video games, movies, toys, books, records, pop culture novelties, manga, animé paraphernalia, arts and crafts, electronics, posters, gifts of all kinds and plenty more! You could spend hours looking at everything. I will admit some things are over priced or equal to retail value. However, if you dig you can find some things discounted like books, movies and other clearance items from different sections. They do have a rental section, however since I am from out of town I didn’t give it to much attention. but it’s there offering access to Movies and Video Games! There is also a small café titled«Hardback Coffee Café» attached to the store which served coffee, tea, and assorted pastries! It’s a neat hang out spot to get a pick me up or just take a break from looking at all the goods! I really recommend Hastings if you are looking for gifts, or merchandise pertaining to a certain hobby. They have stuff for every age range and many different interests!

Bookstores and hard copy physical books are a dying art and this store isn’t as awesome as it was when I was a kid in the early 2000’s. This place carries tons of books, movies, games, and is the closest store to Spencer’s Victoria, TX has as far as various gags and little gifts. You can rent or buy movies/music. They also have a little café called Hardback which is decent. They use to cater to the community by having spoken word/poetry slam type events. Overall Hastings is one of the better book chains still clinging to survival. Good place to kill time in Victoria.

3 out of 5 stars. They have a great selection of music, movies and video games. But the staff members are unwilling to help you… they get annoyed when you ask them for help. I understand that there are some idiotic, rude and annoying customers. I do my very best not to get under any persons skin but when you get ignored and treated like crap it’s hard not to get a little angry. Being that I live in Austin I was not going to make a big fuss because I was only in Victoria visiting my friend. But even still Customer Service should be EVERY retailers top priority because without Customers you ain’t got no money! and no business! and then you lose both when you treat them badly!

Fun place to go no matter what your in to. I really enjoy going to rent a movie here and end up coming out with something else. Some things are overpriced but overall great place.

I have to give this place a median rating because they are pretty vital to the area. Sadly, it is also caused a lot of local movie rental places to close along with the introduction of Redbox. It’s a nice place to walk around, discover things, and kill time. I’m I have pretty odd movie interests so I usually have to ask for help to find things and usually have to end up ordering it because they don’t have whatever I want in stock. Same thing with books too, but like I said I have odd tastes. Every time, literally EVERYTIME, I go there, I have to seek out help. There is never anyone around and there is usually only one(two if your lucky) registers open making checkout long but this provides a good bonding experience with the other complainers in line. The people are usually nice, the young people anyways, but they just never seem to be in their designated area. I still come here often though but I steer clear of the café. I have a grudge against them after they forced a very talented barista friend of mine to leave her management position. But really if your looking for a specific movie or book in town, this is basically your only option, but it’s not too bad.

Don’t care for the fact you can find children’s stuff and dirty magazines in the same store but they have a nice variety at descent prices. Watch out though the same product can be priced differently in the same shelf!

Like others have said, it’s the only choice in town. Their selection isn’t terrible, but their organization is. Many times I’ve asked a clerk is they have something in stock and they’ll check and say«yes, it’s in the video/book/game section.» To which I reply, I’ve already looked there. Their answer? It must be out of place so you’ll have to search all the shelves. I don’t expect them to help me scour the store, but they should at least periodically attempt to put things where they belong. I also dislike that their prices online are much cheaper than in-store, but they don’t honor the online prices. Speaking of prices, when they have sales it’s rare that the items will ring up at the sale prices and getting them to honor the sale price is always a hassle. Having said all of that, it’s still a fun place to browse and waste an hour or so.

Well, I think they are the only game in town and because there is no real competition, it shows. The place is functional and if they have what you are looking for, you can find it. It is too bad they don’t make an effort, the place is large and does have potential.

2012 Review #305: The first Hastings store I ever went to was this one, on trips to Texas to visit family. I think it’s hilarious this is pretty much one of the only bigbox media stores in Victoria. Then I moved to Greeley, and realized that Greeley CO and Victoria are super similar. For anyone that ever went to a Media Play, that’s what Hastings reminds me of, or Entertainmart. Basically it feels kind of like a Barnes and Noble meets a flea market. It’s hard to find a book priced at over $ 15, a lot of CD’s(who they’re selling those to I don’t know) and DVD’s priced under $ 5. It’s a great place to find a lot of «whoa I haven’t seen that in 5 years» stuff. There’s also this selection of off-brand merchandise that looks like some weird Chinese knockoffs that you’d buy on Ebay. That, and Hot Topic clearance items. There’s just a weird mix of stuff that’s all just a little bit off enough that it all works smushed together. It’s a good place to come with kids if you need to get them a gift or distracting item for under $ 10, or something for a long car ride. Or, a really good white elephant gift.

Hastings is the only ‘big box’ bookstore in Victoria. They have a nice selection of books as well as software, CDs and music supplies, and games and consoles. They also sell and rent DVDs. The store is set up well — there are plenty of comfy chairs to lounge in with a good book, and there’s a coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating. The bathrooms are never clean, though. Still, they have a big kids’ section, so we take our family here for reward nights. :)

Only bookstore located in Victoria, Texas. They were originally located across the street in a older building but they moved about 2 years ago. Hastings has a large selection of not only books, but also movies, games and CDs. They offer affordable prices on used books. There is a lot of lounge chairs throughout the store if you just want to sit back and read a book or magazine. There’a also a coffee located inside the store.
