This Amish restaurant is just okay. The chicken and desserts are the best part. Other food choices are just so so. I agree with others that the food is NOT fresh. Were from Ohio Amish area. Our neighbors are Amish. This is just home cooking and far from Amish/Mennonite cooking. With fresh produce in the area this restaurant has gotten or is just lazy. The food was almost cold and the service was not attentive at all. Had to find the waitress 3 times to refill drinks. Its just okay. Its a one time visit for us.

Came just after Saturday lunch rush, immediate seating. Burgers hand — pressed — Double cheeseburger w/bacon had 2 big strips of bacon on each patty, ridiculously overlapping. With veggies on it, truly needed to «hunch» to handle. Great. Single burger, also good. Open faced roast beef, half order was a full platter. Pity da foo’ that gets a full order! Pot roast tender beef, good mash & gravy. Quick, & fed 3 heartily for under $ 20. Bacon was obviously precooked & not that hot, onion rings hand battered, but tasted like fish from the deep fryer. Buffet looked ok, but like most buffets, food looked dry & tired. That takes away one star, but still — HIGHLY recommend.

If you go — go for breakfast. Especially stay away from their buffet during lunch and dinner hours.

If you find yourself in or around Versailles and want a place to eat that isn’t a fast food chain, this is your best bet. The décor is nonexistent but what it lacks in charm it makes up for in the quality of the food. We aren’t talking about anything too fancy, but it isn’t just heated Sysco garbage — this food is actually made by humans. The onion rings are amazing, the fried okra is fresh, and the baked goods are wonderful. Add to that some very prompt and friendly service. Everyone in our group really enjoyed their meal.

Just stopped for lunch on our way to Osage Beach, MO. Cost our family of 5 $ 37 for 3 menu meals and 2 buffets. And super quick service. The tenderloin sandwich was great! The double cheese burger– yum! And the BLT on homemade bread was fresh and perfect. From the buffet– all home cooking; fried chicken was super moist, Lima beans done perfectly, home made noodles… fresh bread. definitely will stop here again!

Great hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy! The half order with a piece of pie is perfect!

My grandfather was Mennonite and I know how those women can cook! I was looking forward to a trip down Memory Lane… what I got was a big disappointment. Our dinner options were the full buffet for $ 8.50 with iced tea $ 1.55 extra, soup and salad from the buffet, or a hot roast beef sandwich. We opted for the full buffet. Any choice would have been the wrong choice. I started my dinner with a cup of chicken noodle soup. The noodles were mushy and the soup lacked a good rich broth. They had roast pork sitting in broth, overly salty beef and chicken gravy(no pork gravy), mashed potatoes, green beans, frozen peas, fried chicken, overly breaded shrimp, fish sticks, baked beans with no flavor, beets that were good, rolls that did not appear homemade, and a couple items that I can’t remember. I did not try the salad bar because it didn’t look worthy. There was a dessert bar that looked promising. WRONG. The pie crust was worse than any pie from a grocery store and the filling in the berry pie was mostly sweet goop with minimal berries. The other dessert offerings were lacking in taste and/or moisture. We were in an area surrounded by farm markets with gloriously fresh produce. Nothing on this buffet was fresh. What a disappointment!

The people are super nice, the food was good(I got the lunch buffet with fried chicken) but the homemade donuts are a blessing from baby jesus. They are seriously the best donuts I’ve ever eaten. I’m glad I don’t live close because I would get really fat.

I was at Lehman’s the other day and they now accept debit and credit cards. They also have the best cherry pie.

From the not too sweet frosting on the cinnamon rolls to just sweet enough house salad dressing, the Mennonite Café, Lehman’s, will make your tongue, stomach wallet and maybe even your soul smile. The service comes from a genuinely friendly waitress who happily, and quickly, takes your order and brings the food. Every item I got on the menu screamed slow cooked home style goodness. Mashed potatoes were outstanding as was the beef and I ended up eating way more than I should have. The prices were more than reasonable and if I lived closer to this fine establishment I could see even my skinny ass gaining a few pounds. 100% recommend Lehman’s to everyone.

What a place! If you’ve got the time I’d recommend making the drive. It’s a bit off the beaten path but the locals keep it a popping place. Arrived just before the lunch rush, and it was quite a rush. By 12:10 people were sitting at tables that had just been left by the previous customers. At first I was turned off by the seat yourself and wait(no one approached us for about 5 – 7 minutes after we had been seated) I went up to the counter and grabbed 2 menus and after I had just begun to look over it a young woman modestly dressed came over to the table to get our drink orders and ask for our lunch orders. I was debating over the fried chicken sandwich(which I had seen a few gentlemen order a few tables over) that looked and sounded delish, or the buffet. Now coming from Chicago and associating buffets with things like OCB(old country buffet) or a China Buffet I began leaning towards the sandwich. I decided when in Rome… asked a table close how the buffet was and after they said it was their choice and were enjoying it I got up and went over to the buffet to «scope it out». I saw a small salad bar and a small entrée bar. It all looked and smelled very good but in the back of my mind I have these lingering thoughts of what buffets are. Taking my head out of it and my stomach into it I grabbed a plate and began building my own salad… good thing I did! Tasty, crispy lettuce with my choice of toppings like mushrooms, carrots, cucumbers, roasted sunflower seeds, shredded cheddar cheese, and the house dressing(a thicker translucent honey type) squeezed in some home made cottage cheese, and this AMAZING pasta potato salad. For the entrees I tried the chicken with rice(yummmm!), green beans, mashed potatoes w/gravy(brown and light), sliced ham, spaghetti with a meatball mushroom marinara, and greens(mustard, collards, and spinach.) For dessert I had the cinnamon bread with icing and omg! I was stuffed but I still managed to devour 3 pieces… and even took a loaf home! All in all it’s a great little find! Everything is made from scratch daily and cooked fresh to order… no heat lamps here. This is traditional Mennonite cooking at its finest. For two to dine buffet and a small pie and loaf of bread it was 26.00 with tip. Slow Down, Sit Down, and EAT!
