There’s almost nothing to recommend this supermarket over others in the area, unless maybe you leave really close by or you’re in that shopping plaza for something else and you need to pick up some groceries. The prices are high, and the design is odd. They have a ginormous area dedicated to fresh foods and produce(yet somehow their fresh foods and produce aren’t particularly special), and then the rest of the place has narrow little aisles(almost as narrow as a CVS) with not much of a selection. As another reviewer said, I almost always leave having not been able to find something I came in for. Um… the people who work there are nice. That’s about it.

The deli is slow slow slow. No sense of urgency. But, my reason for two stars is because I typically bring my own bags to carry my own groceries. Yesterday, 4÷6÷14 around 4:30pm, I had paid and was bagging what I’d bought. There was a woman behind me, clearly annoyed I wasn’t going fast enough. The checker turned to me and said«ummm, do you need help?» As if to imply that I wasn’t going fast enough. And instead of helping me bag, just started forcing my food out of the way as he started check the annoyed woman out. Not cool guys.

Kings is a gourmet food market that has many locations in NJ. You’ll usually find them in pricier suburban areas. This Verona location has been here for years, and it’s just been renovated. The revised space is open, easy to maneuver, and will satisfy all of your shopping needs. THEPROS. Attentive and polite service always! Usually not overcrowded. Freshly made soups and chili daily. Meat/Poultry and fish departments are top notch. Solid bakery goods. Well-stocked cheese display. Salad bar and olive bar. Amazingly well-run deli counter with very fresh prepared foods. Beautiful fresh flower section. Fruits and vegetables very fresh. Half-sized shopping carts are a great idea. Clean, very clean. THECON. It’s pricey. To get all of the above, you do pay a bit of a premium. Unless you’re willing to fork over three bucks for a grapefruit, you may not want to buy all of your groceries here. But if I was having a barbecue and I wanted to get the best steaks, seafood, etc., I would certainly go to Kings first. The quality and service make this market a recommended visit.

stay away from the bakery department. I found a long black hair baked into chocolate pastry when I got home.

Kings has the freshest produce and meats around. They are a regular supermarket, but they tend to have limited generic brand options, but a prevalence higher end options. You can get simple foods like Cheerios, but when looking for something like tomato sauce, your regular brand options at 1.99 per jar are limited. Instead, you have a huge selection of gourmet sauces that cost about 8.00 a jar. They also have less sale items than a shop rite or Stop and Shop BUT I go here because their staff is so great. They are helpful and friendly. The cashier lines, even on a day prior to a blizzard or hurricane are organized and move quickly. you still get someone at the end of your cashier lane to bag your groceries. Now that is something you don’t see alot anymore…

When you’ve suffered through Key Food in Brooklyn, all supermarkets should look like the drugstore in Natural Born Killers. Unfortunately, even in a drug-induced haze, this particular Kings would not knock your socks off. Actually, it probably wouldn’t even brush your socks. It is not that this Kings is terrible, it is just woefully average for a large supermarket. The product selection is very average at best for a supermarket of this size and the layout of the aisles is a little strange and tight in areas. The organic section is somewhat forced into a couple rows, but is fairly slim in the potential options. Of course that is what Whole Foods is for, but it would be nice if one did not have to go to both to fulfill a full supermarket visit. You can definitely do your shopping here and I don’t find it to be too overpriced, but I also think you will always leave this Kings with one thing you couldn’t find or couldn’t get there and this is why it will remain just a bit below average.

Overpriced and the worst check out! 90 year old woman at the register(Kudos to her) but she’s the only one while the check out line during lunch hour is busy. Can’t they hire more person to help check out? EEEEEEK!
