East Gate Chinese and Japanese Restaurant

Good food but horrible service!!! First off they were late, it said they open at 11am and they came 20 minutes late and the staff aren’t very welcoming. Me and my husband were the only ones there and they still messed up our order and even forgot. They took forever with the food and then didn’t even ask how our meal was or if we needed anything. This was the second time we tried it here bc the first time we went with a group of people, they forgot my brother in laws meal until everyone was done eating and we had to ask numerous times for it. We decided to give it a try bc it was really busy last time we went so we get it, things happen but when there are only 2 people in the restaurant, how do you still manage to forget an order. There were about 5 or 6 workers on the floor just worried about themselves eating and watching tv. Terrible experience the 2^nd time around. So do yourself a favor and find someplace else, either that or get delivery. I know get why there was nobody else there and it was lunch time on a weekend, poor service pretty sad cause the food was pretty good.

We love it here. Great take out! The sushi is delish & my husband likes the teriyaki. BYOB when we eat in — I love bringing saki & they are great about heating it up on a cold night.

This place is great for all you can eat sushi. The quality is decent, the food tastes good, and the AYCE offers plenty of variety. Is it the best sushi ever on par which restaurants like Sushi Yasuda or Sushi of Gari in NYC, no, but you get a good bang for your buck. Most AYCE places only include sushi and basic rolls, here you also get sashimi and a number of appetizer options. There are some issues though. First off, you never seem to get all the items you order. Went out with a few people and when we ordered a lot of one item, were always short a few pieces. This happened a few times. Also, not sure why, but the sashimi isn’t cut into proper slices, but rather random and oddly shaped chunks. Of course, since it is AYCE, you take what you can get.

Worst food poisoning of my life. Used to order and eat here all the time. Usually good although it’s hit or miss when you order anything made with brown rice (got a blob of it on everything delivered once). You always take a chance when eating anything raw — I’m guessing maybe it was the mayo in the spicy tuna that did it.

I think everything has been said in other reviews but I just wanted to give East Gate 5 stars since I’ve enjoyed myself both times coming here. I love the all you can eat option and definitely get my (boyfriend’s) moneys worth. We both get the spicy seaweed salad to start– my boyfriend even gets heartburn and he says it’s worth it. My favorite roll (by far) is the Pink Lady which is crab, avocado, tempura flakes and spicy salmon on top. I’ve sampled every flavor ice cream here besides chocolate and can say that the red bean ice cream is the best. The vanilla is a close second. I will take another poll when I return. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are in the area.

BIG SIZE rolls but cheap fish with lots of mayo and their EAYCE is for hungrymen, and you better finish it all, so start with one dish at a time. Friendly atmosphere.,

Love this place great price for an all you can eat Sushi bar. Good quality and friendly staff. Byob is another great part of this place.

We love coming to East Gate but on this trip the wait for all you can eat sushi was longer than expected. Which resulted in us not getting our bang for the buck. The sushi is tasty but the rice does not stick together well. All in all, it is a decent experience.

I’ve been to tons of Chinese restaurants in my life but I’ve never been to one that has refused to make us a dish without the vegetables. My husband does not eat greens and they told us they couldn’t do it because the quantity of the dish would be significantly reduced. So, right there that tells me you’re giving me vegetables so you don’t have to put that much (in our case) chicken in the dish… I asked them to double the amount of chicken and their response was «but then it’s an extra charge.» Which I’m very aware of… I asked her to go ahead and do that and she gave me a poor response. What’s the problem? Needless to say, we left. We won’t be returning.

The all you can eat sushi here is amazing! It’s my third time here and I always leave here satisfied. There are a lot of choice to choose from. I recommend the Godzilla Roll, it’s different and tasty. Definitely would come back here again.

Based on a recommendation from a few friends, I decided to give this place a try and I was really glad I did. ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI! WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE? It’s a little hole in the wall in a small strip mall and if not for my friends, I’d probably just have driven on by without a second thought. Despite the fact that it was Christmas day, the place was packed and I soon understood why.
The waiter brought a few pieces of paper, listing all the different menu items and a pen. All we had to do is mark off what we wanted and how much. I started with the seaweed salad, the barbecue squid and the Miso Soup. All three were extremely delicious. It was my first time having barbecue squid and I enjoyed every bite.
Our party consisted of 4 ppl so we decided to order a bunch of different sushi rolls and share. We had the Mango Avocado roll, the Pumpkin Tempura roll, the Sweet Potato Tempura roll, the Spicy Crab roll, the Dragon roll and the Shrimp Tempura roll. We actually managed to eat it all and the food coma was more than worth it. Everything was fresh and really, really good.
And the best part was that despite ordering all that food, it came out to only $ 20 per person! Do yourself a favor and give this place a try as soon as you get the chance.

Come here pretty often for takeouts since I live like 5 minutes away. I have never tried their «All you can eat». This is your «typical» sushi place. I don’t find the sushi amazing, but it isn’t bad. If you want something that is quick, «normal» and somewhat affordable, then this is the place for you.
I feel like the price for takeout is a bit too high for the quality and quantity. A typical fried calamari (roughly 8 – 10 pieces) is just under 10 bucks. Sushi price is on par with other sushi places around the area, however, other places (Which I will not mention) definitely has fresher and higher quality sushi.
To sum it up, you can definitely get better and more sushi for you money if you are willing to drive an extra 5 to 10 minutes around the area.
Overall, this is an alright place and I will continue to come here since I am too lazy to drive the extra miles.

One of the best places to get sushi in the area! The only issue is, when they get used to you going often, then they start putting more rice and less seafood. You’d think that when you go almost once every week or two and they know you by name, then they’d be better with you. Sadly, they’re usually the opposite. And I feel like I cannot eat for two seconds without the workers staring at me making sure I do not give a piece of my unlimited sushi to a friend who is not eating. They watch you like hawks. I just feel like the service could be better. Best guy there is Steve! Waiter who wears glasses with black frame. He is great with people.

i came here on a Thursday night at 5pm before any kind of dinner rush. The restaurant was empty except for my boyfriend and I. We were here for the all you can eat since there were good reviews on Unilocal about it. The reviews werent wrong, the sushi was good and satisfying. There werent as much sushi to choose from as I thought there might be. But it has more to choose from in the kitchen menu compare to other places I have been to that had AYCE. The service was good since we were the only ones at the restaurant. The waiter kept refilling our water and sushi came extremely fast. I walked out the restaurant way too full and in pain. I cant wait to go back soon for more fullness and pain.

HD the angry lobster roll recently and it was extremely good. It was a tiny bit spicy, but just enough that if you are not a fan of spicy food you would still enjoy it. I also ordered a California roll to go with crunch and that wAs excellent as well. I will be returning to try some additional
Specialty rolls. I really enjoyed the angry lobster roll!

One of the best sushi places ever ! All you can eat option available. Sushi is fresh and great variety. Staff is also very nice and it is BYOB. Will def be coming back.

The bestie and I had a nice time here. We ordered the seaweed and Kani salad. 2 pieces of gyoza, and grilled squid for apps.
The rolls were pretty good. The dragon roll could’ve used a little more eel though. We finished with green tea ice cream. I thought it was a good deal for what we could get.
I’d def come back again. And we were careful not to over order as we didn’t want to have to pay for the wasted sushi :)

Kani salad and bbq squid are a MUST every time! So is the Edison roll.
Don’t bother with the «fruit» in the dessert section… It’s just an orange. I opt for a scoop of green tea ice cream with a scoop of read bean.
BYOB as well!!!

This place is pretty good! I came here with a few friends a month ago and we had a great time. The service is very attentive and the atmosphere is relaxing and casual. My friends got the sushi buffet and they loved it (lots of yummy sounds). I got the teriyaki chicken and it was really tasty and nicely prepared. It’s a BYOB place so plan accordingly and you’ll have a good time here!
