Di Mare Vero Beach

Di Mare is always a superb experience. We visit Di Mare every time we are in Vero Beach. Excellent service, welcoming host, cooked to perfection food. Menu offers nice selection of appetizers, salads, main courses and daily specials. Terrific selection of wines and cocktails. Highly recommend.

Sometimes I think that when a restaurant has an over all good reputation they don’t take criticism very well. When you are served undercooked shrimp and point it out to the server in a very nice way, after we were asked how everything was, and then get back overcooked shrimp tells me that is a kitchen with an attitude. Mind you, a haft eaten undercooked shrimp came back overcooked as well. We’re talking dried up. Then the owner defends the chef who she says is French and knows how to properly cook shrimp. My mom who ordered the meal had stomach issues the next day from the one undercooked shrimp that she ate. Usually this place is good but obviously inconsistent. The previous time eating here I ordered the steak off the early bird menu it was overcooked, I ordered medium rare but came out medium well and covered with gravy to hide the mistake. The meat was tough as well. With all the other restaurants in Vero that show a caring kitchen and consistency it’s unlikely I’d go back or recommend this place to a friend. The owner dropped the ball and she should adjust her way of handling a complaint which was delivered in a proper manner

I am not sure this place is real! Totally amazing food, super service, reasonable pricing. Starting with the bar our night out was wonderful. Great drinks, normal sizes, awesome service. We had dinner with friends, 4 very different meals, all served timely, unrushed, quality, scrumptious, and beautifully garnished. You can safely dine here with your boss, family or friends and really have fun and enjoy wonderful meals.

As a graduate of the Culinary Arts Institute, I am very aware what good food should be… More times I am disappointed, but this evening I was blessed with one of the best meals I have ever had. Bar none… We started with bruschetta that had perfect favors, temperatures, and textures like I’ve never experienced before. I had escargots while my sister had scallops for our appetizers. Both we an absolute triumph. For our main entrees I had the Seafood Di Mare, a rich cream, cheese, and wine sauce that was loaded with jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, clams and mussels on a bed of risotto. Every bite brought sounds of orgasmic pleasure. My sis enjoyed a blacken salmon that crisp, yet not over cooked with a great lemon sauce. Clearly she enjoyed her meal equally as I did. The service was friendly, responsive, and cheerful… making this the best meal I have ever experienced. Please find your way to This establishment so you will agree that this truly is well worth every penny. Thanks Billy for making our meal so memorable.

Fresh shrimp, tasty scallops, excellent clams and delicious mussels on top of a bed of creamy risotto with this terrific cream sauce. Top notch taste and a great sized serving. The Dulce de Leche bread pudding is so good, its just wrong! Great staff, fun atmosphere and a good time all around.

Had two amazing meals here with my boyfriend. The service was exceptional (thank you Billy and company) and the food was as well. Great ambiance, especially if you can sit on the patio. Fantastic gem in Vero Beach!

Went here for dinner on our honeymoon, fantastic food and wine! Had the filet and the jumbo shrimp both sauces were to die for. Great little place near the beach.

Based on our one and only visit — everything was right!
My wife and I went here after trying to go across the street to Havana Club for tapas and cocktails — since we’d already been sipping some drinks. It was about 8:40pm on a Sunday night and Havana Club was closed and since we’d noticed Di Mare’s sign across the street said they closed at 9pm we decided to give them a quick call to see if we could go in — they kindly said if we were right outside then of course, they would seat and serve us. Good start.
It was very nice inside with dim but not dark lighting, white table linen and candles. They had only a couple of other tables and they were both close to finishing their meal but our waiter still would not rush us. We ordered wine, Mozzarella and Tomatoes (aka. caprese), they brought out bread, and we went through the specials. My wife ordered one of the specials which was a cowboy veal chop which came with potatoes and vegetables, and I had the Salmon. Both of our dishes were excellent and service was prompt.
While we were between dishes our waiter brought us a «complimentary» lemoncello which was nicely chilled, mild, and added to my growing and appreciative buzz. As I’d said, our entrees were excellent and by the time our experience was complete I was wondering how soon and if we could afford to return. Our wine was around $ 42 and the total bill before tip was $ 128, so I’m guessing the cowboy veal chop special was around $ 45 (ouch). We didn’t ask when we ordered because we didn’t much care at the time. Even for the money the overall experience was really enjoyable.

The WORST dining experience of all time for both my wife and I. With a dining history consisting of many countries, cites, and rural settings, this was the worst in 40 – 50 years. In fairness to the chef, it was the service or complete lack thereof that made our evening difficult to believe. At first, our waiter was a buffoon, forgetting our order for a bottle of wine. The wine’s vintage ended up being one NOT on the menu so who knows if this was intentional or not because when the Maitre d’ (Chef’s Wife) explained that «older was obviously better» and that she had no control over what the wine distributor delivered (and no apparent knowledge of wine). There was even a red typed caveat about this printed in the menu. But then it got worse… the waiter disappeared!!! For 20 – 30 minutes there was no wait staff who visited the table to remove a plate, water, pour wine, etc. I finally got up and walked to the reception area and asked the hostess where our waiter could be. She replied «he was fired»! So when was he fired? Not sure, but no one felt it was important enough to visit the tables assigned to the fired waiter. Then it got worse. The Chef’s wife (Maitre d’) came to our table and arrogantly attempted to explain how we should be more understanding of these problems. I assume she was referring to being ignored for 20 – 30 minutes. This woman is capable of ruining any fine dining experience. She belongs in the DMV where ignorance, arrogance, and rudeness are expected. NOT in the restaurant business!!. The wine was good, the entrée was good. We paid full price sans tip for the fired waiter. The Maitre d’ offered to comp a Side Salad that never arrived, and later a piece of Key Lime pie. I was curious if she would offer to comp the wine or an entrée but that never occurred to her. At this point it was time to leave and end the experience. Which we did. We will never return. Oh, and I’ve been kind in writing this.

This restaurant is exceptional! We went to Vero for Marty Fish’s tennis event and had dinner before going. From the moment we arrived until leaving… just great! Billy, our server was wonderful. Very knowledgable of wines & menu. First, they bring to the table complimentary bruschetta. Then he brought a sampling of their homemade Pasta Fagioli… so good. We shared an appetizer of Coquilles St. Jacques. It was absolutely delicious and very light. We each had a special that evening. I had the black grouper and my girlfriend had the veal chop. OMG… both fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a wonderful relaxing evening and some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. We live in Stuart, Florida and cannot wait to go back for dinner. Thanks again Billy for taking such good care of us!!!

Food was very good, I had the pompano special, my wife had crabcakes. The di Mare salad is a bit overpriced but excellent and definitely recommended. Side items were good, especially the rice polenta. Service was fantastic and this is an overall excellent choice, but be prepared to spend quite a bit of money (near $ 100 for two), especially if wine is involved.

EXCELLENT food! Everything is always delicious! Some of our favorites are the osso bucco, mussels, crab cakes, etc… you really can’t go wrong! Their salad with house dressing is delish! I’m going to ruin the ‘surprise’, but they give you a complimentary taste of limoncello and bowl of soup. The service is always wonderful and the owners are so nice! Live music on the weekends. Definitely one of the best restaurants on the island, and not touristy at all!

Wonderful restaurant with great music on the weekend. Food is terrific and the wine list is endless. The owners meet you at the door, and behind the bar. There isn’t anything they won’t do for you.
You feel like you’re part of the family. Wait staff is very attentive and very nice.
