A hip little homemade ice cream shop in old downtown Vernon, TX with great flavors and great personality. My wife and I stopped on a road trip from Dallas to Palo Duro Canyon – definitely worth the side adventure. I had salted caramel (awesome!) and coffee. Both flavors were rich and tasty. My wife had cinnamon and thought it was fantastic. They offered lots of mix ins on a marble stone, al a Amy’s, but we went traditional because the flavors were so good all by themselves. Awesome ice cream at a super affordable price – plus a really nice staff. We’ll be back on the drive home… and any time we’re in the neighborhood from now on.

Coming back to Vernon for holidays after being away is a depressing experience. Literally right when you pass by that «Vernon, Texas» welcome sign, you’re greeted to rows and rows of empty buildings, reminding you of the fact that Vernon is a shell of what once was a thriving little town. However, amidst all the dreariness, a little ice cream shop recently opened called The Scoop. I just went there yesterday, and it reminded me of Amy’s Ice Creams in Austin (perhaps even better). It’s cheap, clean, and they even offer foods other than just ice cream. I think they sell pies also. Anyway, there aren’t any reviews for this place yet, so I wanted to leave one. Thank you for bringing some life back to Vernon. Hopefully more businesses will follow your example.
