Went here for breakfast yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. By the outside, we weren’t sure what to expect, but once inside the setup is very homely and cute. I had the waffles and BLT wrap, and hubby had the potato skins and homemade chili. Both were excellent and the service was great. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend anyone staying at the Crystal Springs resorts to come eat here instead!

My husband and I love this place. We’ve been coming to the Mixing Bowl for breakfast/lunch for the past 8 years. The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious and very well priced. Some of our favorite dishes include the omelettes, cheeseburger wrap, and turkey melt. The pancakes are also delicious.

This is my 2nd time coming here. It’s a like a NYC dinner, the food is good–(how do mess up eggs?) BUT the service was awful!!! Our waitress was a pissed off overworked and underpay bitch. She was very passive aggressive and when we will ask her for something she would get annoyed and have an attitude. Half our table got the food 1st ten minutes later the other half. Her excuse was because we had 2 checks but she took the order at the same time. Very disappointed… Won’t be coming back.

Maybe it’s just me but i wasn’t impressed. The wait was long(it’s a small size restaurant), we were cramped at a small table and the food was mediocre. Our waitress was nice yet played disappearing acts throughout our entire time there. We had to keep flagging her down for refills, syrup, the check, etc. Also, they have weird hours(ex. closing a 2PM) and we just barely missed them before closing. Overall: I’ll stick to my Brooklyn/Queens/Long Island diners in the future.

Our absolute favorite breakfast place in the area! We’ve even enjoyed amazing lunches here! I love the waffles! They are large & fluffy, crispy on the outside while moist & tender on the inside! My fiancée almost always gets the chili omelette(it has an official name that I can’t recall). It’s filled to the brim with chili, cheese & lots of other things I can’t remember but taste amazing! The biscuits & gravy are authentic & yummy! Lunch time menu is packed to the brim with delicious choices from burgers to wraps to gyros to fried fish sandwiches! They even have great salads if that’s your thing! I’m a fry snob. I will admit it. I like my fries golden brown with soft tender potato inside. Just the right size & crisp. They excel at fries! My favorite part of the meal :). Guilty pleasure be damned! Please do expect to wait… especially on the weekend & especially in the winter. The secret is out but it’s worth the wait & your patience will be rewarded! What else can I say, the staff are amazing! Always friendly, you feel right at home! Seriously, don’t miss out the gem we call«The purple house» in my family! You won’t regret it!

The food is awesome, definitely my go to place for breakfast. Some of the waitresses can be friendlier but can’t beat the food and cozy atmosphere. And can’t beat the prices

We love to come here for late Sunday breakfast. Weekends are very busy with tourists from mountain creek/action park. Be prepared to wait for a table. To good is very good and at reasonable prices.

Awesome place. I call it the hidden gem. Great staff and very comfortable vibe. Great food too. The biscuits and gravy was out of this world.

Very good breakfast spot near Mountain Creek. Everything is fresh and well prepared. Service is efficient and cordial especially when you become a regular patron. Taylor ham egg and cheese sandwich, corned beef hash and eggs, and everything I tried I liked. They close early and do not serve dinner which is disappointing. Prices are very reasonable.

January 17th is ‘Ditch New Year’s Resolution Day’ which was all the more fitting for me to stop in and have a really unhealthy lunch filled with stuff I just swore off a few weeks back. The place is packed(everyone getting stuffed before they close at 3pm) and it’s just your typical stick-to-your-ribs-Jersey-diner-food. Meant to fill you up and keep going whether you’re headed towards Mt. Creek or just came back or if you’re a local doing some hard rural work.(Sure, there’s a ‘low-carb’ section but c’mon — that’s just for wimps!) Good pricing and friendly staff — all a bonus.

I so love it here. Despite only being open till 3, you can get breakfast anytime before then. Who doesn’t love breakfast at 1 in the afternoon? Staff is knowledgeable about the menu and the food is great. Prices are appropriate and it’s the cutest place. I highly recommend to anyone in the area.

One of my favorite places to eat! Usually packed, but the food is typically consistent. Bacon is always great, sausage is delicious, home fries are always on point Pancakes are some of the best in the area, and the French toast is always tasty. Lunch is just as delicious. Sometimes the staff can seem annoyed or tired which is a bit of a drag, but if you’re from the north east you’re used to it. Definitely try out the Lumberjack special, or the eggs Benedict. Good luck finding a parking spot on a Sunday around church time.

I just moved to the area and was excited to finally try this place. So about 3 weeks ago for the first time I had lunch here. The food is good. Usually pretty busy but service for the most part is quick. I typically order the same omelette or a chicken salad sandwich. Today I ordered my usual omelette with cheddar, bacon and broccoli. As a waitress myself I’m pretty understanding of how kitchens work and restaurants in general so… It pains me to say this but the omelette was completely inedible. There was literally what appeared to be an entire block of cheese in it. There was more cheese than egg. … It was impossible to chew or swallow without gagging. And they forgot to put the bacon in it … I was embarrassed to even ask for something else so I hestiently sent my food back… I mean it happens, sometimes a meal just comes out poorly… Well this particular waitress acted as if I just assaulted someone. Dirty looks, nasty attitude… I smiled at her and she looked me up and down and rolled her eyes!!! I was already having a pretty bad morning and didn’t appreciate being treated that way. I’ve been a regular customer since moving here and I have never sent food back… Anywhere. I apologized several times as if it was my fault? I wasn’t placing blame I just didn’t want to ingest globby handfuls of cheese. The waitress that was rude to me and my mother wasn’t even my waitress! I was told that next time I need to specify that I want less cheese? I’ve ordered the same thing multiple times and this is the first time it was inedible… They did however comp it off the bill which was appreciated. I will not be returning to this place though unfortunately. I wasn’t offered a refill on my coffee or water which I suppose was punishment for not liking my omelette. You attract more bees with honey than sh*t. Just saying.

It was very busy and we had to wait a little bit to be seated besides the fact that there were many open seats. When we were finally seated the waitress acted like she just woke up and needed her morning coffee. When the food came it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while and tasted more like dessert then breakfast foods. The prices were reasonable. The building was very well done i just wish they had put that much work into the food and service.

The Mixing Bowl is one of the gems of the restaurants in the area. It really is a local hangout but you can tell there is a lot of loyalty to the place from the number of repeat customers they get. We eat there at least once a week as the food is good and the prices are really reasonable. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. On the weekends it is usually packed until around 1pm but they do serve breakfast all day. I have some dietary restrictions and the staff has always been great in accommodating me. The only time I ever had issues with the service was when a large group ordered before us. At that time we did have to wait a while for the food. Usually though, even when it’s packed, we get our food within ten minutes of ordering. The staff has always been friendly to us but I can see them coming off as a bit brusque when it’s crowded as there are only usually three waitresses on.
