Their bagels are great-right size without being overwhelming. The jalapeño everything bagel has kick! Disappointed they only take cash and the interior is really run down and dirty. Staff is friendly and helpful.

This place has gone way down hill the last couple years. On the plus side I will say they still make good bagels and the guy who bakes them, I think he may be the owner, is a real nice guy. But on the downside the staff upfront are terrible. Most of them are high school kids who don’t care and are rude. Last time there I ordered two«breakfast» sandwiches where I wanted egg whites with a little turkey… the kid made and charged me for two«lunch» sandwiches made with a lot of turkey and a little egg whites. He charged me $ 15 for them and then when I tried to explain to him what I was looking for he just kept saying«dude, it’s 7 bucks for a turkey sandwich». Theres no manager or anybody in charge to go to so it was useless to keep talking to him. And being that there’s nobody in charge they’re real disorganized and the workers just kind of bang into each other so normally it takes a long time to get your order. Also the drink selection sucks… its basically only Coke, Diet Coke or iced tea. I’m not going back there anymore, I’ll drive the extra 10 or 15 minutes go to a couple better spots.

When I was younger I used to come here all the time. The place wasn’t too shabby. Now it’s completely fallen apart. The floors are dirty, ceiling tiles dirty and dusty, the employees are dirty and sloppy. They’re also rude, and when I put in my order today another employee interrupted us to give out tips from the morning rush. Come on. The shelves are empty in the beverage cooler, the bagel crates aren’t full, and the place is dirty. I can’t believe how dirty it is. This place went down in the dumps and if I had more money id buy it and renovate it. Worst part of all is the sandwich was pretty good. The bagels suck now though. They have to be toasted. I can’t wait for them to close. 2016 update. Tried them again, the bacon egg and cheese was close to $ 5.00 and had 1 strip of bacon… It was the thinnest breakfast sandwich ever. Also, still really dirty. Eat breakfast somewhere else before you eat the dirt at Lox!

This place gets very busy at times. It is cash only, so be prepared. This place has been around for awhile, and I have been going here for years. I think in years past, it was a little better than it is now. They still have decent breakfast sandwiches and it is a place to grab something quick if you are heading out on the road.

Solid bagels, good service, and tasty breakfast sandwiches. Cash only, so you’ve got to be aware of that, but that’s not uncommon for this sort of joint. They’ve got an ATM right there, so no great shakes. Whenever I’m up in Vernon on my way in(or out) on the weekends, I’ll always stop off here and grab a sandwich. It’s one of the better ones around. The owner also bakes their own rolls with various toppings(poppy, sesame, toasted garlic, and everything) if you’re looking for something a bit less dense and filling. I’ve had them a couple times — it’s worth a stop for sure.

I grew up in Vernon. In high school my friends and I used to get bagels and hang out here in the afternoons. They have some awesome bagels! I can’t figure out why NJ has such great bagels. Since I moved away 12 years ago I have not been able to find a good bagel place. So you can bet that when we were recently back in town I stopped and grabbed a dozen! My kids and husband scarfed them up faster than anything! They have some really neat flavors too. My favorite though are poppy seed and everything. Typical, I know. But oh so good! Chewy crust and soft innards, just the way a good bagel should be.

Cash only is the only drawback. They should offer it for larger, business type orders. Other than that it is a really good place. Fresh, high quality ingredients are used and are prepared quickly and efficiently. Very friendly people. Good location.

A bagel shop crowded on a Sunday morning is always a good sign. Lox of Bagels did not disappoint my expectations. The ordering/picking up process can be a bit confusing for non-regulars, but it seems like this place is mostly locals. You order, wait, pick it up(by assuming what is your order– no numbers or names), pay and then get to enjoy your bagel. It would make more sense to have separate areas that say“order here” and«pick up here». The identification system could also use some improvements. A friend of mine did not hear the worker call out her breakfast sandwich and he angrily threw it against the wall. A simple solution would be to call numbers or names for your order, no one is listening for the specifics. With the exception of that one rude worker, everyone else seemed to be friendly and it was nice that the workers know the regulars and their orders. The bagels were absolutely delicious, with lots of different flavors and toppings to chose from. Next time I am in Vernon I will be sure to check out Lox of Bagels again, but hopefully they will make some improvements.

Wouldn’t get my bagels at any other place! A great family run business that has been a town favorite for ever! The place is run with a friendly that is always welcoming! The everything bagel with veggie cream cheese is the best! They also have some of the best heroes and subs. If you are just passing through or a regular, lox of bagels is your place for breakfast or lunch!

While visiting friends in Highland Lakes, we wanted to stop for a bite to eat for breakfast. We had heard good things about the nearby Lox of Bagels, so decided to try it out. The place was pretty packed so after ordering, we stepped to the side to wait for our food to be done. When the order was ready, we didn’t hear the boy behind the counter call us up. He got very angry that we didn’t hear him, threw my breakfast sandwich up against the wall, and walked away! After finally getting my order, the sandwich(a bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel) was very good. Although the sandwich was good, Lox of bagels will never receive my business again after the rude service I received.

great breakfast pit stop on the way to Creek, plenty of bagel varieties, small seating area, food comes up quick, staff is mellow, not a great selection of bottled beverages & cash only are only downsides if you can even call them that

Usually the bagels are overcooked and stale. They can be a bit pricey as well. Honestly the only reason this place is flourishing is because it’s literally the only bagel shop in town. Somebody help us and open up a good one.

My wife(the native) confirms the«best in North Jersey» appellation, and that may well be the world as far as she’s concerned. Indeed, New York doesn’t even get a hearing. I won’t pretend to be a competent judge or to have a horse in this race, but the perfect crust and fresh, soft middle are like nothing you’ll find outside this bagel-blessed region.

The best of bagels in the tri-state area, period! They don’t come any better! I have had«famous» bagels in NYC and they were not as good as these. The service is as good as the quality.

I agree with Michael N. These are the best bagels in North Jersey. They crust is perfect, the inside toasts well, and Lox of Bagels’ cream cheeses are perfectly made. They also make great sandwiches in the afternoon. If you’re at the neighboring A&P, definitely consider stopping here for breakfast or lunch. It’s locally owned and it seems like the whole family and friends work to keep the business running.

The best bagels in North Jersey. Bar none. Nothing better than a toasted poppyseed from Lox of Bagels; I stop in there every Saturday morning when I’m home. Crowded, yeah, but for a good reason. No better breakfast place in Vernon.
