I am Vegan and they have a number of unique Vegan option like a Mushroom Fajita, eatable flowers and cord mushroom that is very unique and I was told is brought to them fresh from Mexico. The service is terrific and very friendly. Great place to eat in during a crazy day in the downtown area. They are asking more vegetarian options and I have been a regular for the past couple of months.

I had lunch at La Villa Basque Takeria in Vernon, CA on 9÷29÷2015. Yes, Takeria — it’s now a Mexican restaurant(and has been for about two months now). It was my 1st time there. My fajitas cost $ 12.95 and my Jamaica cost $ 2.49. Andrew, our serve, did a fine job. Plus, I took photos.

If you work in Vernon and happen to want to have lunch locally stay away from this place ! Horrible food, we got a flyer delivered at my work advertising prices and dishes yet nothing matched once I arrived to the restaurant . Epic fail !!!

Yet another landmark falls prey to Persian«tastes». This place WAS incredible, but just as has happened in Glendale’s old theaters, it got an injection of hideous. How sad, so unnecessary and done despite the pleadings of the LA Conservancy who tried to tell them to leave it alone. But no, these people know best and now the charm and class is in the dumpster. SHAME. If someone from another culture wants to buy a public business with loads of history behind it, why not LISTEN to the people who love and appreciate it ASIS? This kind of sacrilege is happening all over this county. Get an education BEFORE ruining our historical locations.

Worst fucking place ever… How are you guys even open with the worst location the worst manager and most disrespectful security crew. There was a fight going on next to me and how do I get attacked by one of the security for no reason. Yeah I could understand you got the wrong person. I was not even in that fight I was just waiting for the restroom. When I told you guys I’m didn’t do anything and trying to walk away 5 more security grab me saying I have to leave. And have the nerve to tell my friend to «shut the fuck up and leave too». She’s a female just asking you guys what we did wrong. So please lower your standards and make sure you guys get the right guys next time! We asked for the managers name and they just told us too leave. We were glad we left. Will never step a foot there again. And I will never recommend this place to anyone. No one deserves to over pay for this place and drinks. And get harass by security.

What is this place?! It’s horrific. There was 4 people at the bar and they asked for a ten dollar cover. No music just lights and a rude woman. Used the facilities on my way out and the toilet and wall was sprayed with feces to which hadn’t been cleaned in at least a week. Just awful. I felt assaulted by just being there. Never ever go here.

We used to love going to this restaurant 4 years ago. This was one of the very few restaurants that the Mrs. has been to near my place of work. Not anymore. The last three times we have been to this restaurant has been a disaster for the following reasons. 1) Service is very slow. On every occasion only 2 or 3 tables were occupied. So, it was puzzling that our water, soda etc. were not refilled on time. 2) Food options are on one A4 sheet of paper. Absolutely no variety for this fancy sit in restaurant. 3) My chicken was undercooked during my last visit. My boss’s bacon was cold and felt uncooked during a visit. He sent his sandwich back for the bacon to be cooked correctly. 4) Very pricey for the kind of food they serve. I will not be returning to this restaurant as I feel like I have given many chances for service/food to improve.

I ve been to this place once with my lesbian friends the place n im taking about the lounge its nice but I think its a lil pricy $ 10 to get in to dance for four hrs I think thats too much plus the drinks are $ 10 too so they are ripping people off cuz even thou they claim its a fancy place I can tell u that it aint fancy its like any other club in L.A. even bahia is more fancy than this place Villa Basque and Bahia opens up until 3 or 4 a. m for the same price. in my personal opinion I think this Villa Basque should stay open a lil later at least until 3 a.m. come on now if u go to a club its to dance not to stay hanging!!! :(

This review is strictly for their lounge on Saturdays. Came here for a friend’s birthday this past Saturday. Located in a random part of town surrounded by warehouses and old buildings, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the place! Looks nice from the outside as well as the inside. Huge parking lot to accommodate everyone. $ 5 for general and $ 10 for preferred. There are two main rooms, one is hip hop and the other is salsa and that kind of music. There is also a random area outside with a dj playing top 40’s with a bunch of couches you can sit on or dance in between if it gets too hot inside, which it will. We got one table for like 12 people. The table wasn’t big enough for everyone but considering that we were dancing for most of the night, it was just fine. We only got one bottle for the entire night. I appreciated that they didn’t hassle us to buy more bottles since we had so many people at our table. Drinks including shots are $ 10 each, which is pricey for this kind of place. I’m not sure how much cover was since we were on the guest list, but I highly suggest getting a table if you have more than like 3 or 4 people because it is not too expensive and you’ll want to sit throughout the night. The place is made for bottle service, so your kind of shit out of luck otherwise. The only two downfalls to this place are how hot the Hispanic music room gets, since I’m sure they have no fans or A/C(whereas the hip hop room is really cool and refreshing) and the creepy location of the club. Tip: There are cops in the parking lot making sure everyone is safe and that no one is driving drunk so be careful.

Don’t let the adorable sign on the outside fool you. You will be sorely disappointed if you take your partner on a surprise vintage adventure. It’s been remodeled and it’s awful. Food, ambience and etc. though if you look through the layers of time, you can see the glory it once was. I think it’s a dance club some nights but don’t quote me.

Vile, thy name is La Villa Barf. I work in Vernon. There are no restaurants in the city proper except for this one. It has been horrible for the 24 years that I have worked in the area. I had lunch here recently(not by choice) and can’t believe it’s now worse than ever. I called to make a reservation for 10, explaining that it was a business luncheon. When we showed up, they tried to cram all 10 of us into two separate booths in the bar area. No. So they pulled a rectangular table out of storage, slapped a tablecloth on it and shoved it perpendicular into a booth table within the bar. Better than nothing. They turned up the music so loud that we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. I requested that they turn it down. The front door was left open so the traffic noise permeated the restaurant. I requested that they close the front door. Jesus, people, are you as deaf as you are devoid of taste buds? The majority of the party ordered ice tea. When it was served, they asked the waiter for sugar/equal/sweetnlow/whatever. When it wasn’t brought to the table, one of our guests walked to another table and brought it over(fortunately, by the END of the meal, the waiter remembered that we had requested it and finally brought us some. Good job). The menu is… interesting. There certainly isn’t anything Basque on it. I am guessing that the new owners might be of Persian descent by the number of kebabs and lamb dishes offered, and the endless supply of pita bread served before the meal. I select something called Chicken Barg, which consists of chunks of overcooked chicken breast served over rice with one tomato and sliced onions. Well, the rice was edible. One of the guest’s orders was forgotten. One had requested no mayo on her sandwich, but contained mayo. Did I mention that the place was EMPTY? On a FRIDAY? At NOON? This place is bad. The food is bad. The service is bad. The décor is bad. The cleanliness is bad. Unless you just want to get drunk at the bar, do yourself a favor and stay away. I read that they had filmed a scene from Mad Men here, but it must have been previous to the recent remodel. There is nothing retro from the ‘60s here any longer. It’s a bipolar décor disaster. As an aside, the strangest thing is that if you look at their website, they do not have their address listed, except under past events. Maybe they’re as ashamed as I am that a place like this is allowed to exist.

I just wanted the business owners to know that I think the remodel of this restaurant is an absolute tragedy. I was so excited to visit after reading about your place on this site: It was this amazingly well kept 60s time capsule. I was bursting at the seams with excitement to visit. But then I see in the photos that you’ve totally ruined everything. All of that painstaking work someone must have done to keep the place in its original state has been wasted. Thank god the counter seating area seems mostly intact. But it’s still been spoiled. Business owners need to learn that the entire appeal of places like this is to see the amazing midcentury architecture(it’s really popular right now. haven’t you noticed?) & design elements. It’s not for the mediocre food & cheap half assed remodel job.

What does this place have going for it? 1) Proximity to my office. 2) Decently priced happy hour beer specials.($ 7 for a liter of Stella) Other than that, it is usually pretty empty and the music is way too loud(and bad). They are somewhat accommodating and will turn down the music outside if you’re the only people out there. The décor is interesting — it has a 1940’s-1950’s lounge thing going on — but it looks and feels out of place in Vernon(which isn’t exactly the best area and is composed primarily of industrial buildings). The oddness is only further emphasized by how empty it is. I haven’t had much in the way of food there but the salsa is bland, which is always a bummer for me. That said, it serves its purpose as a place to grab a quick beer or two after work!

Terrible. Horrible. Very bad. No good. So this place is in Vernon, apparently it is historical and has been there for ages. It’s on a random ass street corner in Vernon between a few meat packing plants. We walk in, middle of the week at about noon. The place is like half empty(depending on the way you look at the place) so we figure it should be no problem to fit in an hour lunch. Well, when it took 15 minutes for us to get menus, I knew I was wrong about that. On top of that, after I ordered my 14 dollar Greek Salad(WTF, srsly) off of the cracked out menu that had everything from French Onion Soup to fish tacos, it took another 15 minutes to get a bread basket and water on the table. We continued to wait. And Wait. But funny thing is no one waited on US. The waitress did not even LOOK our way. As we all nervously looked at our watches, knowing that those glorious 60 minutes were all but gone now, we flagged the waitress down. We asked if we could have the food to go and she just stared at us blankly like«did we do something wrong?» or more like«how dare you ask that». She blurbed something about the rice taking a long time to cook and then darted away. Disgusted that she did not even apologize or explain 30 minutes ago that the order was going to be delayed, we all came to the consensus that we were going to leave. This decision was solidified when the waitress dropped off the check on the corner of the table, didn’t look at us, and walked away. Oh hell no!!! So, before our food arrived at the table we got up and walked out. Ridiculous and disappointing. GODAWFULSERVICE, I highly recommend avoiding this place and trying out one of Vernon’s many other culinary delights at your lunch hour…

The food here is really not that great. The staff doesn’t seem to be well educated on their wines or their food either. When we asked for recommendations on what is good all we were told was the salmon and the pasta. Never which kind of salmon or which kind of pasta. When we asked what kind of wines there were that were available, we weren’t provided with a wine menu just what they could remember or retrieve from the bar. Mediocre really. I had a pasta dish which was a bit mushy, no special flavors — nothing really stand out.

They’ve remodeled this place recently so I’m giving it a 2nd chance. I had the Ahi tuna with fettucini, mannnnnn it was horrible. The pasta burned, the tuna was like biting Big League Chew and the sauce had a hint of can and something was wrong with the 7up, it just tasted funny. Happy hour is the only thing this place has going for it, sitting at the bar has an old school gangster feel which is pretty cool. Beers are a decent $ 4 and Margaritas $ 5. On a positive note the waitress/bartender is really nice and attentive.
