Authentic Indian food at tremendously affordable prices. The veg combo platter is excellent. Good portion sizes. Mutton biryani was aromatic and flavorful. Best Indian fare in the Chicagoland area.

New owners… very friendly staff, food was good. Hard to find fast/casual Indian food around the area and this is a good option. We had the vegetarian combo platter, came with rice and choice of 3 sides plus naan bread for only $ 7.95 each, portions were generous and atmosphere was nice. Will be back again

The management is changed now. the food was awesome at reasonable cost compared with other Indian restaurants around. As this is fast food restaurant the service was really quick… Must visit place guys

Lady said place was closed, even though the open sign was on and apparently it closed after I waited inside for a few minutes behind a couple that had just ordered. A girl from next door even came in after me to place an order… ehhhh will never be going back to even try as a first time customer.

This used to be good place to eat a months back. The quality of food and service has notably fallen since the new management took over. The only item on the menu that still tastes good and has not gone down the quality curve is ‘aloo paratha’. I have stopped buying other items on the menu. its a pity as I used to visit this place more often a few months back…

Very good for a quick Indian meal. Try the Chana Bhatura for sure. It is a must have here. A great place for catering as well. I order food by the trays here for family get togetherness. Always works out great

Went here on a Sunday eve, had the Samosa and Calcutta style Egg Roll. The Samosa came with a side of mint /sweet chutney and the rolls with mint chutney & home style fries. Everything was good taste wise and nice value for money. So why just the 2 stars? For starters it took them 15mins to take our order since they had started cleaning the kitchen a good 45mins before closing. On the same note they rushed the closing… Putting off the lights, Turning over the adjoining tables etc while we were still eating! The tables were so sticky and dirty, I wonder when they cleaned them last. The place is self service but dirty tables are no excuse. Maybe I will have a take out next time… Decent food but the overall experience was a dampener.

The food was great, and the service was exceptional! It was really surprising for a place that looks like a hole in the wall.

I was highly impressed by the owner contacting me on Unilocal himself and telling me about the improvements. He also offered me a coupon to come and try food. Unfortunately he did not inform about this to his employees and the cashier refused to accept the coupon I had on my Unilocal message — so I left. I hope to try the new food soon.

This place used to be much better. It truly used to be a go-to place. I’m not sure if the owner changed, but they’ve gotten much stingier with portions, and the food is a bit worse in my opinion. With the new portions, it simply makes lunch not a very good deal. Especially with 2 pretty decent Indian buffets just a little East of Spicy Bites.

I had heard about this place from a friend so was really excited about visiting it accompanied by my husband. We ordered Indian coffee and Mirchi Pakoda which were really good. I tried aloo tikki chat and my husband tried gobi paratha, which were really ok. But the biggest disappointment came with Calcutta style egg and paneer roll. Being born and raised in Calcutta, India I know that this is nothing remotely close to egg/paneer roll — one of the most famous street food of Calcutta. The egg roll was egg paratha with no stuffing!!! and the paneer roll was just unseasoned paneer inside paratha!!!(I mean seriously guys!!!) I am tempted to give this place a 2* right away, but the only reason I am giving them a 3* is with the benefit of doubt that maybe they do a better job with the other items on their menu and also their ambiance/décor is better compared to other Indian places that I know of.

Food — no good at all. I don’t know how come it rates 4 stars. We ordered 3 things — pav bhaji(Ice cold), sev batats puri chat(for some reason i was told they serve it without sev — u serious?), samosa chat(ice cold)… Never going there again. I know what india food is and this is not how its suppose to be. I usually hate to give low rating to small place because i always want them to grow but this place is special.

Recent management changes have caused this place to go down big time! First, no one answers the phone no matter what day or time you call. In fact we could not even confirm a catering order in the day of pick-up. Second, once we got the dish, it was terrible. The ingredients had no sauce, spice as before. I’ve ordered chaat for parties under old management and worth every penny. Now it’s more expensive AND lower quality food. Too bad…

This is a go-to place for my girlfriend and me. Seriously. Don’t let the strip mall location fool you — this place cranks out the best Indian food around. Tasty, and without the grease and heaviness of other places. Great service and wonderful ownership. Chili chicken, chickpeas, eggplant. Amazing, fresh naan… If you like Indian, get here sooner rather than later!

Me and my boyfriend eat at this restaurant every week, and we absolutely LOVEIT. The flavors are unbelievable, the atmosphere is chic and pleasant, and the staff is warm and hilarious. We always leave with great joy due to the incredible dishes and fantastic workers. It’s definitely a low-key place, great for a quick lunch or casual date night out(all the food is served on disposable dishes — think more carry-outish). We heartily recommend any lover of ethnic food to go here immediately!

Great indian food around this area — First time ordered and the price and portions are absolutely great! The flavor is amazing and it is my new favorite place to go whenever I get cravings. Update** The spicyness level is HIGH. I couldn’t finish my lamb because it was waaay too spicy. The powder stuff they put on the french fries makes it almost inedible(unless you can deal with super spicy). Just remember to ask them to go easy on the spice! Other than that, the food is great!

This place is decent. They have some delicious food WHEN they are not out of things! And it’s a small, fast food joint, so you get your meal fairly fast. I’ve been on multiple occasions when I’m home visiting my parents. So, I’ve tried a variety of things. My favorite is probably their Paneer Kathi Roll. They do a wonderful job with it and the rolls are very flavorful and spicy. They give you some yogurt with it so you can cut the spiciness a bit if you want to. And, the rolls come with fries, which are decent — just taste like frozen ones they flash fry — but I don’t really expect indian places to make their own fresh fries. My parents are in LOVE with their biriyani and I agree! It’s SUPER tasty and pretty darn spicy. I always need a glass of water to chase it with, but it’s GOOD so I can’t stop eating. This dish is also served with yogurt to cut the spiciness a bit. Other than those two faves, I’ve tried samosa chaat and bhel puri which were both okay/decent. They have big things of vegetable curries and rice so you can create a meal(two curries + rice/three curries + rice). The thing that sucks is they run out of things — all the time. I’ve heard people get shot down on things they wanted all the time while I’ve sat their and eaten my meal. One particular time, my stepdad and I went to pick up some food, and literally everything I asked for, they were out of. — I’ll have the Samosa Chaat. + oh ok…, wait we don’t have samosas — Ok then I’ll try the Pav Bhaji + sorry, we’re out — OK what about the chole batura + out of Chole — can you please just tell me what you DO have? The food is reasonably priced, too. Since it’s essentially indian fast food, everything is pretty much under 10 dollars which is great. Overall, the food I’ve been able to taste has been pretty tasty. The owner opened Urban Tandoor which is a nicer, sit-down restaurant, in Long grove and I love that place. This place is AOK and if my parents want to come here when I’m in town, I probably would not object :)

I often drove by Spicy Bites not really knowing what it was. One day, there was a groupon now deal and I jumped on it. We ordered the paneer wrap and the chicken tikki wrap. Both were very spicy a little too spicy for my liking. I prefer the typical Indian food because I like soaking up the sauces with naan. The wraps seemed a bit dry to me. I also thought that the inclusion of fries was a bit strange. I called ahead for the wraps and it took me about 15 minutes to get there. When I arrived, I was told it was going to be another 10 minutes for the wraps.
