We’d go back if we get a serious craving for barbecue. The pulled pork and the spicy garlic BBQ sauce were both delicious. But the bun was greasy, the bottom of the bun was grilled black, the entire plate was covered with grease. The fresh-cut fries were very good… but about a third of the fries were really skins with very little else to them. But having said all that, the pulled pork was as good as any I’ve ever had.

My family and I love coming here! The pulled pork dinner with Mac and cheese and a side of sweet potato hash is always a must. Its a very family friendly place which is a plus.

Very good pulled pork, love the sauces too! It’s also a good bargain at $ 9.99 for a pulled pork dinner with two sides.

A large group of us went for dinner at 5 pm and only 2 people were able to order ribs as they were out. Very odd!!! I had the pulled pork sandwich with a baked potato. The pork was tender and I chose the sweet and tangy sauce which was good. Sandwich was large and all in all a good choice. My husband had the BBQ chicken which was a bad choice. The chicken was dry and there was hardly any on the bones to begin with. His Mac and cheese was good. Everyone had a clean plate so they must have liked their meals. Prices are decent, atmosphere is simple, but worth a second try.

Favorite place to eat in vermilion. The brisket is the best. Along with Mac and cheese, sweet potato hash, pretty much anything you order.

Have been here several times in the last 2 months with large groups. Ordered the family dinner each time and everything on the plate was awesome. Pulled pork, ribs, wings, sausage and the best brisket I have ever had. Sides of choice have been the beans and the sweet potato hash. I could eat those everyday. If your lucky they will have the blueberry bread pudding with whiskey butter sauce. Excellent bbq sauces to choose from.

Great food, great service. Worth the drive if you’re not local. The décor is not fancy, but the food is delicious. Recommended: the beef brisket au jus sandwich.

Another restaurant that failed to live up to the hype. pulled pork was more like pulled shoeleather. this place is just plain old filthy. they must only wipe the tables on sundays. Dont waste your money!

First of all… seriously first of all what kind is butt sniffer goes to a BBQ joint and expects«atmosphere» you sirs are clowns… Literally my travels have taken me all over the country… Rule 1 the dirtier and more run down a BBQ joint is the better the ribs are… end of story… The best BBQ I have ever was either in a burned up shack in tx that never pass an Ohio health inspection… Or out of a barrel BBQ on the hood… So atmosphere? Really?.. I would prefer the place had a leaky tin roof, a mess of hound dogs and was decorated with old pieces of barns and shotguns… but I digress… Anyway… I am a dirty dirty wizard when it comes to BBQ I was taught at a very young age by the late great Calvin Morton owner of Mortons BBQ hut a south Lorain staple in the 80’s and 90’s. So needles to say if I wanna mess’a’ribs I usually do it myself… However on the Rare occasion I don’t feel like spending all day at the bathing in homemade sauce and worshiping at the pork alter… I go to the pit. Not quaker steak, not bubba q… The pit… or drive to the hood until I see someone selling ribs on the side of the road… That is all you need to know. I ain’t ever gonna make you ribs. Cal Morton God rest his soul is no longer on this earth… So he ain’t gonna make you ribs either… So unless you got a river boat ticket to the Mississippi delta for blues and BBQ… or you know a REAL good voodoo curse to bring back Cal… and you want a plate of BBQ you better get down to Pit and get yo’ hog on… Or I am gonna point and laugh and Cal might just haunt your dreams…

Wanted to love this place, today I settled for liked. The pulled pork dinner consisted of very tender pork, with a subtle smoked flavor. The sweet — spicy«award winning» sauce was an odd glob and actually took away from the pork. The sweet potato hash was very good, mashed potatoes OK and roll stale. I’ll definitely give them another chance, this visit was on a Sunday and maybe(I hope) just an off day.

Vermilion seriously needs drastically less unhealthy, boring, fried, fattening food. I’ve only been here once or twice, but was just not impressed. The menu needs a major makeover, as do the ingredients! Please, put something fresh and not loaded with GMO’s on the menu! #monsantocity

The Louisiana ribs I ordered for lunch were the worst ribs I have ever tasted. There was about a teaspoon of sauce on them which wouldn’t have been a problem if the meat wasn’t so bland. They tasted like fat. Our server was completely uninterested in us and didn’t refill beverages. We waited for 15 mins to flag her down and get our check. For the price of the meal we could have had a superior experience at a chain restaurant. I like to support small businesses when possible but we will not be returning to the Pit.

Big disappointment. The reviews made us think this was a hidden gem in Vermillion. We left after 3 bites of subpar food. After a 20 minute wait to be seated, we were set down at a sopping wet table with no napkins or silverware. The server was«huffy» when we asked her to dry the table. We ordered cherry Pepsi, only to learn its regular Pepsi with cherry syrup added. We asked for regular Pepsi instead and the server literally slammed the new glass on the table and walked away without a word. I ordered a half rack of ribs and my husband ordered half a chicken. After a 30 minute wait, they brought out two plates of chicken. The waitress said she misheard the order. At this point, we still had no silverware and had to go request it. The«half» chicken was really only a quarter and it was not cooked through. The sauce was watered down. The potatoes had a dry film where they had sat too long. This place was not worth the wait or money.

Don’t go here for ambiance, because there is none. Go here if you truly love great, slowly, and perfectly cooked barbecue. The pulled pork(seven different choices of BBQ sauce — the traditional hickory and Carolina are outstanding), homemade mashed potatoes and onion gravy, AND if you’re lucky and they have French Onion Soup, order all of the above and you’ll be hooked for life!!! Check out the fresh chopped hickory wood smoker in the back. It’s the real deal.
