Enroute back home to Albany NY, Dropped by this place for a healthy victory dinner after a gruelsome Burlington Vermont City Marathon. Drawn by its positive reviews, simplicity, and supposed low-cost, I am impressed by 3 Squares Café’s cozy environment and friendly-staff. Ordered the Mesclun Salad with marinated grilled chicken — light fare that is delicious with a mix of hearty greens and natural flavors. Self-service dining. Only complaint: pricey at $ 12 salad for a small portion.

Chicken cobb sandwich was terrific! Fresh and full of flavor. And whatever they are dressing the greens with(maple vinaigrette??) is out of this world! I’d you’re in the neighborhood don’t miss this spot!

This is pure Vermont. If some hippies decided to open up a lunch counter this would be the place. The food is healthy fresh imaginative and the seasonings and accompaniments Are surprising. My home fries were seasoned with Cumin and Cayanne, who would’ve thought of that? There are thermoses of coffee and you can help yourself to all four varieties. The décor is eclectic and the food matches it. If you were in this area and you miss this place you have missed a real treat.

Excellent food! Wow! Would definitely stop in again. One of the best burgers my boys have tasted:). I had the Cobb Chicken sandwich which was outstanding! Wonderful customer service with cheerful smiles. Only downside, not enough room. Tables were crowded, and it’s seat yourself. If noise and crowds bother you, keep driving:).

Stopped for dinner on our way back to Burlington – quick, helpful service; nicely quiet on a cold Thursday night. The local-beef burger was a good – the blue cheese really made it. And for a bit more, they subbed in the spinach salad with delicious roasted yellow beets. My Dominican braised chicken was delicious but too salty, and the rice and beans that came with it contained some really hard, dry rice, which really kinda detracted from the experience… But I’m willing to give them a second try just ’cause the prices are so good. I’ll keep you updated.

This place was recommended to me by the hotel I was at and thank them for the recommendation! I travel a lot and love finding little«gems» in some of these small towns and this is one. Food was GREAT and I love that thy asked me how crispy I wanted my bacon! Cool little building and the people were great. Highly recommend this place if you are traveling near Vergennes, VT.

The best breakfast in all my travels. I had the huevos caribe. Traveled all through Canada and on the way back thru the parks on motorcycle. Coffee was awesome

Very nice place the food was tasty .I loved the English muffin the sausage home fries and eggs over easy. Even though it was my second choice no American cheese ??? Is this America? I liked that it was a serve yourself coffee bar although selection was limited. All in all not a bad place I would go back and recommend it.

Busy restaurant in a cute town. Stopped for a bite on my way home from dropping off my son at UVM. It was recommended & although the food was good it was a long wait. Definitely fresh ingredients but not the friendliest staff. Surprising that there were no gluten free bread options.

Its a small town… so be aware that for a regular coffee to go it will take about almost 20 minutes.

This is the best place in Addison or Chittenden Counties for breakfast! We live in South Burlington, and come here for their awesome french toast — absolutely delicious! Food is always fresh, and well prepared. Creative menus. Great Boyden Farm burgers for lunch. Don’t overlook this small town gem!

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday as we were passing through town. It was the only place open in town so it was undoubtedly busy. They warned us that it would be a 30 min wait for our order, but we sat down and did some people watching in the meanwhile. It is very vintage meets hipster. Old original wood floors, mismatched wood tables and chairs of various sizes. Their is a limited amount of outdoor seating but you’ll have to keep an eye out because they are few and coveted. It’s charming, though I could do with a few less flies but now I’m just being picky. The breakfast menu looked delicious, the French toast that I saw other people order looked appetizing. We ordered the turkey, bacon, and Swiss panino and the pulled pork burrito. The turkey was incredible. Served on a crispy focaccia, with what I think was a garlic mayo. The bacon and Swiss cheese melted together for a delicious flavor. The burrito was quite respectable. Stuffed with Spanish rice and beans with a side of salsa that was spicy. The pork was tender and not too salty. The even the burrito wrap was good, not soggy, but hot and a little crispy almost. I’d stop through again in the future, especially if I could hit them up for their breakfast menu.

I use to live in Vergennes and during my time living in town, I happily walked down the street to grab a meal here. Three square meals here are reliable, high quality, and tasty. The atmosphere is bright and the staff are helpful. I enjoy catching up with owner/chef Matt Birong and sous chef Eric. I have never been disappointed with the food, coffee or desserts. My husband and I love driving 30-minutes south when Matt does his Restaurant Week menu. It is always a special three course meal, especially when he integrates the cocoa he brings back from an organic chocolate cooperative in the Dominican Republic(Kirschner Chocolates). The prices are reasonable and its a great place to bring family.

Cute and comfortable spot. Everything was perfect and fresh. The chef was extremely nice as was the cashier. My turkey bacon Swiss panini was super yummy. Turkey was very fresh(not cold cuts) and lots of it for a sandwich! Definitely would go back if I am in the area.

this is down to earth farm to table café that serves breakfast until 3 pm! they also do a great burger out of local meat. You order your food at the counter, you pay for it & you are given a unique wooden toy. You sit down at a table. When your order is ready they bring it to you and take away the toy!

After being frustrated twice at Vergennes Laundry — odd hours, $ 10 card minimum — I went by 3Squares to vent and buy a coffee, and the owner was so amused by it that I got the coffee and a muffin on the house. Good crew here, and a cool ambiance. Can’t do better in Vergennes or clear to Middlebury.

3 Squares is probably my favorite place to go in Vergennes other than Daily Chocolate and Vergennes Laundry. Vergennes is a cute little town about 40 minutes south of Burlington. I love to go there for lunch and a change of scenery. Lovely spring though fall. Hiking at Snake Mountain near by. Cute little shops, and considering the size of the town, nice food choices. 3 Squares has a laid back homey feel. It can be quite noisy when it’s crowded which is usually brunch and lunch. The sandwiches are good, the specials interesting and comforting. It serves breakfast all day, and I believe is even open for dinner. There is always a mixed crowd of people there. Some you know live close by and others that are visiting. The only drawback, really, other than the acoustics, is that if you want to sit outside. large commercial trucks go by every 60 seconds or so and are very loud, so unless you go off hours, noise is a problem inside or out. The dessert there is just so-so, so I go to Vergennes Laundry or Daily Chocolate if I want sweets. But for a homey, cozy relaxed spot in a quaint Vermont town, 3 Squares is hard to beat.
